Hi Shelly, Would you tell me about where I should be able to find the “Dictate” button?

Again thanks very much!

Vicky:

You are more than welcome.  I hope this helps you be able to use it more efficiently.  No, I have never had to log in again.  My settings are saved so when I open Uber, I can just start getting my trips scheduled.  I haven't heard of this before and I have no idea who you could contact.  The only thing I can suggest is getting someone who is sighted to check it out for you and maybe delete the App and then log in again and have them help you save everything.  You should be able to start getting rides as soon as you open it.  Let me know how the dictating feature works for you.  It's a great service but a bit expensive.  Take care and good luck.

Hi and thank you Shelly for your helpful information!  I will certainly try your dictating method!

Since you say that you also only use it on an infrequent basis, have you found that you must reauthenticate yourself with it every month? I know I have for at least November December and January.  This is a bit of a pain!

Thanks again!

Hi Vicky:

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with Uber.  I use it occasionally and it's been about a year.  I have had no trouble using it at all.  I had someone set it up for me and ever since then, it has worked perfectly.  What I do is open the app, and it will say where to and I hit dictate and say where I'm going and you basically have to say the address and the town it's in because there may be several streets with the same name and after that, you swipe over until it

says something like coming from and you can automatically put your home address in there and it will say home but sometimes, I have had to put other address in and it's the same format and then you swipe over and select Uber X or Xl and after that, you hit request Uber and it will say finding nearby drivers.  I hope this helps.  I have found that Lyft is more accessible because they have an easier format to contact their drivers.  I have trouble contacting Uber drivers.  Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Hi List, Has anyone here with no site, been able to work independently with Uber on their iPhone?

This is now the third month and each month I have to reauthenticate it.  However, when I try to do that, the voiceover stops and not even a clicking sound is audible.

If you have gotten this to work for you and you are dependent on Voiceover to use it, would you very kindly help me out?

Re: uninstalling drop box problem

Patrick Ford

Ok, Gene, I did the first suggestion you offered, to install over itself and this worked. I don’t know how to tell dropbox  not to start at boot up …how is this accomplished? Also, the reason I uninstalled it was because there must have been an update in the last few days because now I get a pop up page about different options with drop box and I could not get rid of this page. It was  annoying.

Thanks so much.

You could try installing it over itself and then try uninstalling it, or you can do what might be easier and faster and tell Drop Box not to run at boot up, in which case, it doesn't run unless you run it so that will be functionally equivalent.

Do you want to uninstall it to reinstall it to try to solve a problem or completely uninstall it?

Actually no. Check with Verizon on that. Verizon stopped activating 3G
phones like the Haven in the middle of last year. So if a Haven gets
deactivated for whatever reason you won't be able to reactivate it on
Verizon. Your alternative would be to activate it through Selectel,
TracFone, or Page Plus.

Thunderbird does not install a junk folder by default.  It is not the same as the trash folder which is equivalent to the Deleted Items folder in WLM.

Re: fixing firefox

Gene

By a complete uninstall, do you mean manually removing a folder left behind after you uninstall the program using programs and features?  Does it also entail any deletions from the registry to get rid of settings?

Here is a step-by-step description of how to find the feature.  Try this first.
New major steps start on new lines:
When Firefox is opened, press alt then release it and type t then o.
Wait two or three seconds.
Shift tab three times.
Press end, then up arrow once.
Now Shift tab twenty-one times.
Press the space bar.
You may immediately be able to tab or shift tab and hear information, which means the problem has been solved.  I'm not sure if you have to restart Firefox to have this setting take place; usually, you don't..

In Quantum versions of Firefox, it's in the Privacy and Security tab of settings, and it's a bit buried. It'll take much tabbing to get there. The entry that you want to make sure is unchecked is

Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser

The catch 22 is that, if it's checked, we can't read anything anyway, and either sighted help will be needed to uncheck it, or a complete uninstall, then reinstall of Firefox. Using, and backing up, a working portable installation is not a bad idea.

I'm not sure what happened but it sounds as though somehow, the allow accessibility is turned off.  I don't recall the exact name.  If someone doesn't tell you how to find it, I can check my Firefox.  This is a perfect example of why I say that people should use the portable version of Firefox.  it does everything the installed version does and you can keep a backup copy.  If something happens to the copy you are using, you can just copy and paste the backup copy to the location where you have the copy that you use.  You would delete the copy you are using, then place a copy of the backup version in the same location.

You won't have to worry about how to correct problems because you can just replace the problem version with a version that works correctly.

I am using Thunderbird with Win 7.  As far as I know, I don't have a junk mail folder.

Is a junk mail folder something you must make up, or is it just made when you use TB?

Where can I look to find the junk folder?

Thanks for your help!
