Hi, is it possible I can get some help with someone through face time, or Skype, to fix my Internet router? I am not seeing my default gateway, and I can't access my router. I really really really do need help with this if anyone can. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

In short yes. I contacted them about this and they said based on user feedback and preferences they’ve streamlined their content so as to better align with what apparently some customers wanted. So yes forecasts via email are no longer 7 day and they don’t come throughout the day. Accu weather has emails you can subscribe to for forecasts and I have them coming at 7:00 AM and 7:00 Pm for instance perhaps that’d be more to your liking. The Weather channel also has email subscriptions as well. I’ll still keep my wunderground for the severe weather alerts but am also disappointed in the change.  I hope that helps.

Well, Robin, have you checked the HP site for a Windows10 driver update?  On your wireless network, is the printer being detected?

I am using a Canon all-in-one Model Number MF8580CDW and I was able to get it going with no sighted help.  One caveat:  I am NOT RUNNING Windows10, so the opinion expressed here may be mooted.

But, try haunting down a driver on the HP site first before you give up on the printer.

Wireless laserjet printer question

Robin Frost

Hi Everybody,
I was just curious if anyone out there is using a wireless capable laserjet printer which you were able to set up out of the box without vision and if so which ones and are you using it under windows 10?
I ask because I purchased an HP wireless capable printer with my new windows 10 pc and thus far even with it hooked up via USB for now I can’t find a way to communicate with any web interface it might have for getting its wireless connectivity started using screen readers at all.  It might soon be returned which led me to wonder if anyone has had greater success with such devices and if so with which models.
Thanks for all light you could shed on this for me in advance.

Brailliant BI 40 issues after updating firmware

Cristóbal

Hello list,

So after reading the notice of a firmware update being available for Humanware’s Brailliant displays, I did the update on my system and now I am unable to input any characters. The refreshible cells and command buttons and thumb keys are working as normal, but I can’t enter in any text via the six cell keyboard nor can I execute any cord commands. Nothing has changed as far asBraille settings with Jaws. I’m running JFW 17 by the way. The display is connected via USB on a Windows 8.1 machine. I’ve ggot a Win 7 laptop I can try with, but am not currently at that one.

I’m wondering if I inadvertently toggled some setting or if this is something others are experiencing?

Thanks,

V-shape you have the iPhone confused with Android. You don't use the
V
shape to start Voice Over on the iPhone. You can do a triple click
home
or ask Siri or hook it to your computer and iTunes to turn VO (Voice
Over
) on!
Now as for as gestors go there is just so many no way we can give
all
them here and what they all do. Especially with this new 3d touch if
you
decide to keep it turn on. But there is a practice in the settings
of
the
iPhone.
You would go to settings general accessibility and then VO and after
you
click on Vo you will see it.

BTW: just a few gestor for iPhone: flick left or right flick up or
down
double tap double tap and hold three finger double tap to turn
speech
off
but leave Vo gestors in place three finger triple tap to turn screen
curtain on or off. Triple click the home key to turn voice over off
or
on
if triple click home is setup in settings.

Thanks,

Re: WIRELESS COMPUTER SPEAKERS REVISITED

Quentin Christensen

I have a Yamaha DLNA wireless speaker that I can stream music (or any audio) to from my PC, Android, pretty sure iOS etc. I've been using Jamcast which once setup works via a basic icon in the system tray of the PC, or app on my phone. I can't recall if it does or doesn't stream from my smart TV, or if I just haven't got to trying that yet... That might depend on the brand of smart TV...

Anyway, it works great and the sound is fantastic, the only thing to be aware of, is that it's a few seconds behind, so great for streaming internet radio through the house, (I've only got the one but I believe a lot of them now are setup to ensure that if you have multiple speakers they will synchronise with each other), but it woudn't be a solution for say sitting on the desk near your laptop and listening to your screen reader through it as you work (it could certainly do that, but that ~5 second delay would get pretty frustrating very quickly!)

Kind regards

Quentin.

Re: Notification of Windows Updates

Matt

It depends on how you have it set there is four ways to set windows updates. (1) automatic, (2) notify me when updates are available and let me download and install them, (3) Download them but let me decide to install them and (4) don’t check for updates. If you choose download but don’t install them then the icon will not popup in the tray till all updates are downloaded and ready to install. If you choose automic updates you might not get nothing but a bloom telling you the updates has been downloaded and installed. If you choose do nothing then you more than likely want get no kind of notification. If you choose tell me when updates is ready to download and install it will have an icon in the tray when updates are available.

So if you choose download them but don’t install them then they will autmaiticly download them to your system but will not install them. So if you have it set this way no you don’t have to go to the control panel to download them but you will to install them. Or you can just click on the icon in the system tray!
