Open Settings (Windows Key plus I), search sleep. Choose either "Power and sleep settings" or "Change when the PC sleeps." The same dialog opens in either case. Set "When plugged in, PC goes to sleep after" to "never".

Re: google chrome notifications on my task bar

Gene

That may be but if this is something new and its happening regularly and on web pages it hasn't happened before on, that implies that there may be another problem such as malware trying to get the browser to do something.  Don't answer yes assuming that a no answer will mean you can't use a page. You have no idea what you are answering yes to.  If the choices aren't read, see if you can get someone to read them to you when you go to some of these pages.  I generally wouldn't turn these notifications off unless you know that doing so won't compromise your security or do so in any way you care about or not cause actions you don't want caused without you being asked.

When you get such a notice, the best thing to do for now might be not to answer yes or no.  The best thing to do may be to use another browser for the site for now.

As worded, the original message sounds as though getting these notifications is occurring regularly and on pages that have been regularly used without such notifications before.  Is that correct?  Also, are these notifications really on the task bar or are you assuming they are?  Browsers I use don't show notifications on the task bar.  So the question is whether these are actually coming from the browser in the first place.

Hi Troy!

I have the answer to stop all of this!

On the settings page, press enter on Advanced settings.

Next, press enter on Content settings.

You have a list of notifications that are listed once, what they do, then the notification is listed again as a button.

Press enter on the button choice, to open up the choices for that notification.

Here is an example you will see on the content settings.

Location!

Ask if Chrome should use your location.

Notification.

Press enter on the second location.

Now, there will be a choice to press the spacebar on the choice, to not ask you if Chrome should use your location.

There are many of these where you will have to do the same thing, if you do not want Chrome asking you.

Some of these, though, you might want Chrome to ask you if it should use certain apps.

For example, there is another content setting that says:

Mike

Ask to use mike in Chrome

Mike

You have to press enter on mike, then choose the choice with the spacebar to not ask you in Chrome.

The thing is, I would not want Chrome to use my microphone without knowing it.

These are the notifications you are getting on web pages.

To go to settings, press the alt key,

Up-arrow to settings, and press enter.

A web like page will open where each setting category is a heading.

The last heading on the page is Advanced.

It is closed, so press enter on that to open all of these advanced settings.

Then, there is a heading called Content settings on the Advanced settings page.

That is what you want, so press enter on content settings.

Then, like I explained above, enter on the second time it says the notification; JAWS will say button, and decide if you want Chrome to ask you or not if it can do something.

Take care, Troy, and I really hope this helps.

Let me know how this works out for you!

Hi all,

I've been getting notifications popping up on my task bar the past few

Recently when I load a web page I'll get an allow button and a block

button, and I've been hitting the allow button thinking that if I didn't

the page might not load completely and show me what I want to read, and

I suspect that's what started these notifications but I'm not sure.

They are notifications of news headlines and things like that, some of

the same stuff that I might get on my phone.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Hello,

I'm using goldwave 5.68 on win10, the drive is a ntfs drive, and I'm

conversions go fine I then get an abbreviated error can not rename the

rest is truncated. Does that give anyone an idea as to what's up and
how I might fix this?

You don't run diskpart with the run dialog.  To run diskpat, you need admin permissions.  Type cmd on the windows search box, then press the context menu key  and arrow down to "run as administrator".  Then you can invoke diskpart.  Cheers!

- Quora

Try the following and hope that it fixes.

Check if there’s any BIOS update available related to battery for
your laptop model.Download and try to update

Where do I find this information?

model.Download and try to update but before updating perform
below
steps:-

list of 9 items
• Power off the system.
• Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers,
external hard
drives) from the computer.
• Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the battery from it.
• Press and hold the power button for 20 to 30 seconds to release
the residual charge from the laptop.
• Reconnect the battery and the AC Adapter.
• Once the system is powered on and booted properly, re-seat the
battery.
Check if you still get the error or not.
• Boot the system to BIOS, tapping the F2 key on the Dell logo
screen when you power on the system.
• Press F9 key to load BIOS defaults. Once done, press F10 key to
save and exit. System will restart. Check if the error is still there.
• Try and wiggle the AC Adapter cable and check if that makes a
difference.
list end

Alternatively, you could also try below steps:-

list of 7 items
• With above 20% battery left, unplug the power cord from both
laptop and wall outlet.
• Open the bottom cover and Remove the battery • Dry Wipe the
battery connectors with a clean cloth several times.
• Put the battery back in and cover, • Turn the laptop on with
battery only.
• Now plug power cord into side of laptop, then into wall outlet.
• Check if it returns to charging state.
list end
Still not getting any charge.
Battery is now at 0%.

Can we shoot for tomorrow around seven p>M.? Give me a call on my
cell phone at
614-271-1695 and I'll be happy to assist you further or if tomorrow
night isn't a good time give me a call and we'll be happy to work
around your schedule. During the day, you can reach me on my work
phone at 614-692-7124. I work in a secure area at defense supply
center Columbus in building 20 wo I have to keep my cell phone turned
off but certainly always feel welcome to give me a call at work during
the day and we can discuss when it will be best to get together and at
least get your dell laptop bios updated. That may not solve your
battery issue but at least we can eliminate one of the possible causes
of your battery charging problem. One other thing you can check is to
make sure that connection going into you’re a.c. adapter is tight as
well. Make sure that the plug is in that receptacle tightly as that
can cause problems charging as well. I'm using an hp zbook z17 laptop
and hp has a utility to check your battery and I'll be happy to see if
Dell has any similar utilities. Look forward to talking with you
tomorrow. Have a great day and I'm blessed to be able to have the
opportunity to assist you. BZ!

I'm using Windows 7.
Thank you for your help for I'm not that savvy when it comes to all
the technical things that come along with the comp.
Now as when you're able to assist me!
I go out during the day for at least 5 hours.
That will put me out until 3:00 PM.
I do have a phone.
let me know when it is best for you.
Again thanks for helping me with this problem...
"lol."
So until!.

Hi, Rhonda, Brian Zolo here in Gahanna, Ohio. You can go to
support.dell.com and go to the drivers and downloads page to check
for updates for your Dell. You're going to need your machine's
service tag to do this. The service tag can be found on the bottom of
your laptop but there's an easier way to get that information. What
version of windows are you using? You need to get to your command
line. You can do this by hitting your windows key plus the letter r
and then type in cmd and then hit enter. You then be placed at your
c:\users\whatever your user name directory is and then you will have
to type cd\ and then hit enter which will then take you to your root
directory. Then you will type wmic bios get serialnumber and then
press enter. That will get your laptop's serial number for you and
then you can put that serial number in on the support.dell.com web
page and it will then show you what updates are available for your
machine. If you need assistance doing this, don't hesitate to get in
touch with me and I'll be happy to assist you. Is there a phone
number that I can call you and I'll be happy to assist you. A bios
update certainly might fix this but you may have a problem with your
battery. Let me know if I can assist you further. Have a great day!

Help Needed Please
I have a Dell Laptop.
When I look in my system tray, the status of battery power is reading
0% available plugged-in not charging.
So my daughter did a search and got this on how to solve the problem.
How to fix the problem 'plugged in not charging' on my Dell Inspiron
laptop
- Quora

Try the following and hope that it fixes.

Check if there’s any BIOS update available related to battery for
your laptop model.Download and try to update

Where do I find this information?

model.Download and try to update but before updating perform below
steps:-

list of 9 items
• Power off the system.
• Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers,
external hard
drives) from the computer.
• Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the battery from it.
• Press and hold the power button for 20 to 30 seconds to release the
residual charge from the laptop.
• Reconnect the battery and the AC Adapter.
• Once the system is powered on and booted properly, re-seat the
battery.
Check if you still get the error or not.
• Boot the system to BIOS, tapping the F2 key on the Dell logo screen
when you power on the system.
• Press F9 key to load BIOS defaults. Once done, press F10 key to
save and exit. System will restart. Check if the error is still there.
• Try and wiggle the AC Adapter cable and check if that makes a
difference.
list end

Alternatively, you could also try below steps:-

list of 7 items
• With above 20% battery left, unplug the power cord from both laptop
and wall outlet.
• Open the bottom cover and Remove the battery • Dry Wipe the battery
connectors with a clean cloth several times.
• Put the battery back in and cover,
• Turn the laptop on with battery only.
• Now plug power cord into side of laptop, then into wall outlet.
• Check if it returns to charging state.
list end
Still not getting any charge.
Battery is now at 0%.
using on electric only.
