IOS mailing list; was iOS 9.1
Chip Orange
Hi all,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I am new to my Iphone, and was wondering if there's a mailing list for IOS users. I've purchased two poor choice books for myself, but finally finding and purchasing the appropriate third one ("getting started with IOS 8" by Anna Dresner). It would help me a lot if I could talk with other IOS users about this stuff. I'm late to this party. Chip

Re: pop settings for charter
George McCoy <slr1bpz@...>
Very interesting.
Here’s the info I got from Charter.net when I set up my account back in
2011.
receiving email
pop3 = pop.charter.net
port = 110
pop pass = password for the mailbox you’re setting up
sending email
smtp.charter.net
port = 25
if pop and smtp don't work try mail.charter.net for both
set your email client to
use authentication = yes
Hth,
George

I guess the only way to find out for sure is to

Just think of a Wiki as a webpage where you can
post and share all kinds of information. Wikipedia is one
example of a Wiki.

Well the scheduled Emails would only be sent out
once or twice a month at most so I don't think that would seriously impact

I haven't looked, but does groups.io have a
downloads section for groups, similar to what Yahoo groups has? If so, that
could also be an option, where people could download the latest version from
time to time. Some Wikis also offer that on the page of the item in question,
that may be worth a look too. That way people can have it online, and also
offline if they choose.
One reason I'm not always in favor of the email
approach is that I'm sure it'll be hell for the Digest people to have to try and
deal with that on a regular basis if not interested. LOL!

If we’re taking votes here I vote for either sending it to the group
regularly or both. while it’s true that the group page might streamline things
think of it this way if it’s in the form of an email people could archive it for
offline reference a bit easier for later review when they might find themselves
in a situation where online access might temporarily not be available.
Just my two cents (smiles).
