Re: How and where do I turn on my gps on my IPhone 6?

ratshtron <northstar1950@...>

on your first page, you should have maps on the top line third applet. double tap on that and that will open the google maps. you may need to turn tracking on but follow the prompts. i also had to find where to turn voice so i could hear turn by turn instrucions.

Hi Everyone,

Here are some email commands I got from the mod Gene.

I just keep these commands on my computer, and refer back to them as needed.

Here is a list of the available e-mail commands:

To receive message digests instead of individual messages send an email to:

TechTalk+digest@groups.io

To receive individual messages instead of digests, send an email to:

TechTalk+single@groups.io

To stop receiving messages via email (you may still read messages on the Web),send an email to:

TechTalk+nomail@groups.io

Contacting The Group Owner

To contact the owners of this group, send an email to:

TechTalk+owner@groups.io

Thank you Gene,

Hope this helps.

Well, lots of us it is a pain as most of us cannot remember their password and I think you have to log in? I know when I go no mail and have to go up there 99 percent of the time I don’t know my password and have to jump through all kind of loops . If I knew how to go no mail by sending an email from my mail client like you would do to unsubscribe or subscribe I would do it that way. But I don’t and when I do I have to go to the site and try to login and it starts all over. JST

Hi Carlos,

I like the way you are doing it now, sending the message on the list to
the group. If people do not want to see it, they can press the delete
key. Having said that, you could do both, putting the info up on the page
and sending it to the group.

Not really paying attention, I never noticed that groups.io has a
Wiki page for each group. I'm wondering if I should just use the Wiki to
post the list of resources and freeware instead of sending out scheduled
reminders to the group? Then I could just add a link to the Wiki in the
message footers as a reminder. Or would sending it directly to the group
be better? Any thoughts?

IOS mailing list; was iOS 9.1

Chip Orange

Hi all,

I am new to my Iphone, and was wondering if there's a mailing list for IOS users.

I've purchased two poor choice books for myself, but finally finding and purchasing the appropriate third one ("getting started with IOS 8" by Anna Dresner). It would help me a lot if I could talk with other IOS users about this stuff. I'm late to this party.

Blind people have to double tap while sighted people slide. If you
need sighted help with your device as I did, you need to have him/or

person is harder and when VO is on, a sighted person can't scroll.

Very interesting.

Here’s the info I got from Charter.net when I set up my account back in 2011.
receiving email
pop3 = pop.charter.net
port = 110
pop pass = password for the mailbox you’re setting up
sending email
smtp.charter.net

if pop and smtp don't work try mail.charter.net for both
set your email client to

Hi Christina,
Just think of a Wiki as a webpage where you can post and share all kinds of information.  Wikipedia is one example of a Wiki.

I was trying to vote but it told me to log in. I don’t know what wiki is and I am somewhat of a newborn computer user so I think I would vote to either do both or just post it to the list once a month or something like that. Whatever works for you Carlos.

A new poll has been created:

Polls are a beta feature of groups.io so this is a good way to test it.

1. Use the Wiki for this kind of information
2. Send the list directly to the group on a schedule
3. Do both
4. I have no opinion one way or the other

I added the addresses for the chat group to the footers myself as a reminder.  For some reason I assumed that the addresses for the main group were automatically included as well.  I thought I remembered seeing them at one point, but I could be wrong.

Hello,
Yes, it would be nice to have the main list, above or below the chat info. I know, some of us can modify the address, however, not everyone can.

JST

Unfortunately, this is my own fault for not initially thinking of the poll so everyone is catching up and responding to the original message.

Hello folks, I don't think all understand what Carlos has going on here we have a pole feature on this website, Which allows you to click a link and check the radio box and then hit the vote now button. So why don't we try to do that, instead of replying to all these messages and having a big fat discussion. If anybody needs help I am available for life phone calls that the information below.

I haven't looked, but does groups.io have a downloads section for groups, similar to what Yahoo groups has? If so, that could also be an option, where people could download the latest version from time to time. Some Wikis also offer that on the page of the item in question, that may be worth a look too. That way people can have it online, and also offline if they choose.
One reason I'm not always in favor of the email approach is that I'm sure it'll be hell for the Digest people to have to try and deal with that on a regular basis if not interested. LOL!

Hi,
If we’re taking votes here I vote for either sending it to the group regularly or both. while it’s true that the group page might streamline things think of it this way if it’s in the form of an email people could archive it for offline reference a bit easier for later review when they might find themselves in a situation where online access might temporarily not be available.
Just my two cents (smiles).

Not really paying attention, I never noticed that groups.io has a Wiki page for each group.  I'm wondering if I should just use the Wiki to post the list of resources and freeware instead of sending out scheduled reminders to the group?  Then I could just add a link to the Wiki in the message footers as a reminder.  Or would sending it directly to the group be better?  Any thoughts?

Well the scheduled Emails would only be sent out once or twice a month at most so I don't think that would seriously impact members who are configured to use digest.
