fragile, but very useful.  I dropped the parrot I had on the carpeted floor from about 2 feet off the floor and the door popped openand then broke off when it bounched and one of the battery covers popped off.

But, the concept was a solid one.

Hello Alan,
To temporarily slow down jaws speech press control + alt and hold them down
while pressing page down until jaws is speaking until the desired speed is
reached and if you want to speed jaws up just hold control + alt and press
page up and if you wish to make the changes permanent just hold down the
windows key with the other 2 HTH.

FS Focus 14 Connecting to various devices?

Vicky Vaughan

Hi List, My Freedom Scientific Focus 14 has the capability of pairing with my iPhone and my Kindle Fire Seventh generation tablet.

However, I am unclear what I need to do when it has last been paired with my iPhone and now, I want to use it with my tablet.

To add to the confusion, I also have a Blue tooth keyboard that is paired with my tablet.

So now, when I want to have my Braille display active with my tablet, do I need to tell my iPhone to forget this device, before I can re-pair it to the tablet?

The instructions only seem clear on making a first-time connection and then expect that to stay as the standard situation.  It’s the fluctuation that gets me confused.

Can anyone help me understand how to handle the changing situation?

Many and very sincere thanks in advance!

Vicky Vaughan

Displaying Pages in Word

Abbie Taylor

I’m using the latest version of Microsoft Office. Recently, when opening documents with more than one page, Word has been displaying two pages with the pages next to each other on the screen. I hope I’m making this clear enough.

I’ve figured out how to have it display one page at a time, but how do I make it stick? When I open the same document later, it goes back to the two-page per screen display. I’m not seeing any setting in the options to make the one-page display permanent. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to where it says all apps by typing the letter A and press enter using the #8 key on the keyboard.

Then type the letter S for settings and press the #8 key for enter and then navigate to where find backup/restore which should give you the option to do a reset however needs done like a full reset etc. So hope that helped?

Thanks.

Got this from Humanware's site.

enter Android settings by selecting All applications in the Main Menu, settings. Then go to Backup and reset, then select Factory data reset.
All your personal data will be erased, so make sure you made the necessary backups!

I have a fire tv and the sonos play base. I just plugged the optical cable in and it worked. I disabled the tv speakers in settings. You shouldn’t have to do anything to enable the optical output.

I’m really not sure, but I’ve heard of vocally. I’ve heard very mixed reviews about it, but maybe it is something to look into? And there are also phones that have voice dialing built in if you look on maxiaids.

Accessing Zoom Meetings Via computer

Abbie Taylor

I'm writing this in response to TeryLynne's query on the subject. I'm glad you were able to finally make it work, but  next time, now that the Zoom program has been downloaded, simply click on the link in the emil invitation. It'll open your browser and then Zoom, and if the host is there, you should automatically be joined into the meeting. I hope this helps.

Hi Ann,
So I did make it work. When I entered the download link, and ran Zoom, it
then asked for a code. It took me a while to figure out that they meant that
same http link which I had gone to in order to download Zoom. When I did
that, the whole thing worked.

Thanks so much for your help,

Hi all,

What do you mean you weren't given a web address. The web address is in the
invitation. The invitation should say "Join via computer."
followed by the web address. Did the invitation come with a phone number
too? If you can't join the Zoom meeting via computer, use the phone number
and access code. You probably won't be able to join the meeting till a host
has joined, so I'd wait and join closer to the meeting time.

Re: question about next door

Hi Shelley:

I have been signed up on ‘next door’ for about six months now.  I get email notifications when there is something of interest that has been posted in my neighborhood and a general daily post in the afternoon.

I find that the sight is a bit time-consuming to use, as you have to arrow down quite a bit to get to the pertinent info and also click on other links to see all the related posts to a particular subject, but I do like the fact that there are posts concerning my immediate area.

I have been able to post a few ads to sell things, although, it took some fooling around with things.

All in all, it could definitely use some better accessibility for blind users.

I have not used the Mobil app as yet.

I just tried Stamp ID3 tag editor and I can't make it tag and keep the information; also, when it plays a song, it brings up this screen where there are a bunch of unlabeled buttons. Still having trouble with properties and need a good, screen-reader accessible editor.
