Re: What is your typing speed?
David Moore <jesusloves1966@...>
,Hi! I can type no more than 60 words per minute I type faster on a smaller keyboard than I do a regular size keyboard. I can't explain it, but on my little neck with a small keyboard I can type faster because the keys are closer together, and if the keys pressed down fast more easily I can't I pee and faster. If the keys are harder to press down that slows down my typing speed. What about 60 words per minute is about all I've been able to get too. Thanks a lot for asking this question it will be interesting to hear what people say. Have a great one everyone! David Moore

In the U.S., your local employment office can give you a test or make arrangements for the test to be given to you at a nearby rehabilitation office.

Subject: Re: [TechTalk] NLS Folder Question Hi Ann,
What you need to do for the NLS digital player is to make sure that each book you download from NLS and/or any Daisy formatted book is in its own folder. Then to play MP3 files--either music or books--you must create a separate folder called audio+podcast. You can create separate folders for MP3 type books within the audio+podcast folder, but you will have to keep track of them yourselves since only the MP3 audio itself will describe the book title and author.

Re: NLS Folder Question
Pamela Dominguez
You don’t need to create any kind of a folder for them. If you want
to put mp3s on a drive that has NLS books in the route of the drive, then, you
would have to create a folder for the mp3s. But for BARD books, you don’t
have to do anything except put them on the drive after you unzip them.
Pam.
I vaguely remember that I need to create an NLS
folder on my thumb drive if I wish to place NLS books on it to use with the NLS
player. What is that folder called?
Thank you.

There are some talking typing teacher programs around. We use one at work called Talking Typer, I believe we got it from APH. It will tell you your typing speed and level of accuracy.
I type at around 70 words a minute. Been typing for 41 years.

Dear Karim Lakhani & List:
The list has a couple of Humanware dealers on it, however almost all parts for the Stream are proprietary, it consists of the case, battery, motherboard and keypad. What parts are you seeking? Humanware does not do repairs to the headphone or microphone jacks, they appear to replace the entire Motherboard, either that or doing some micro-soldering is outrageously expensive! You may find a local electronics repair center will do headphone or mike jack repairs at a fraction of Humanware's charge. Brian K. I do not have a direct link to the program however I do know there is an App Store link and you can purchase the actual program through APH.

Hi Group,
To give my own typing speed test, I set a timer for 1 minute and then typed a standard typing test phrase such as: 'The quick red fox jumped over the lazy brown dogs' until I her the timer sound to end the 1 minute. Then I counted the number of words or set my word processor to do so and subtracted a word for each misspelled word and got my total for one minute.

Re: What is your typing speed?

Hi Group,
Before my health decline, I could type around 150 Words per minute. I am still about 75 word per minute now. As far as advice, the only way to get good at this or any other skill is to practice a lot. Before the days of talking computers, when I did everything by rote memorization, I was more cautious. I don't quite remember the speed--probably about 60 or 70 words per minute, but once I got speech with my computer, and I could hear each word and spell check, that's when my speed increased--until my neural motor conditions slowed me down.

Accessible price tracking extensions?
Cristóbal
Hello list, I’m in search of an accessible price tracking service/extension. I’ve tried CamelCamelCamel Keepa, Price Plus and Honey for example. For the usual sites, Amazon, NewEgg, BestBuy and so on, but all in all, they don’t really provide this info in an accessible format. They’re all pretty much graph/chart driven. There is sometimes some info that can be accessed. CamelCamelCamel can provide the highest/lowest price, but as far as more detailed info? Not really. Is anyone aware of a service/extension that can provide this sort of information in an accessible manner? I’m guessing most likely in a table format? To be clear, I’m not looking for a price tracker that can alert one when there’s a price drop. That I can get to work fine. It’s the historical price tracking stuff I’m interested in. My main screen reader is Jaws, but I can also use NVDA if that makes any sort of a difference. Thanks,

OT: request for participation in a study
enes sarıbaş
Hi all, As part of my MPhil degree in Theoretical and Applied linguistics at the University of Cambridge, I am conducting research on how blind and sighted adults understand and interpret language. I am looking for congenitally blind and early blind and sighted adults aged between 18 and 67, who do not have any additional disabilities, and who grew up in an English-speaking country. I am currently finalizing my survey and expect to complete it within a week. I expect it to take between 40-45 minutes when finished. Participants in the survey will be entered into a draw to win four £25.00 amazon.co.uk gift cards. Anyone who would like to participate in the survey please e-mail me at my academic address (es777@...), and I will send out the survey when it is completed. I apologize for the off topic post.
