(Laughing)  OK Ok,  the Jaws Short Cut question has been answered.

I choose to not have Jaws start up when the System is turned on because
others also use this system.

Or you can just start NVDA with speech until you get the new NVDA shortcut set up as you want it.  I would think that would be the easiest thing to do.  That will save you from going through any extra steps such as renaming things.

If you had JAWS automatically run at startup, you wouldn't have to put up
with the silence (for long, anyway).

Hello,

I posted my original question, just to see if others had experienced the
same deletion of the JAWS Short Cut.  Even though it had happened on
both of my Systems, Maybe it was a User Error, rather than some odd
Goofiness with the JAWS Install.

As for the Deleting of the Short Cut Command, on my Systems, it happens
every time there is a Slight Update, or a Major version change.

Since I am relatively new to Jaws, am still learning its quirks.   And
this was one that kept showing up, so thought I would ask about it on
this list.

Sounds like this problem has been around for a while, and I'll make sure
I rename the Jaws icon so I have access to at least the old version of
Jaws, until I can add the Short Cut Command to the newest Jaws Icon.

<Slight laugh>  I really dislike it when my System fails to speak.
Because if it doesn't speak, my options are quite limited.

Thank God for NVDA!    If it would read the screens of just one more
program I use all the time, I would probably stop using Jaws and use NVDA.

Hi, ,
Updating is when you update your JAWS with the latest patch, under the same main number, say, within JAWS2019 and then .a string of minor numbers, when there should be no change in the hshortcut key status.

*Upgrading* is when you upgrade (having purchased) a new version of JAWS, with a different main number than last version you had. It has no shortcut key, until you make one up. (It has never had a shortcut key.) (Your previous version of JAWS' SHORTCUT KEY WILL BRING UP THAT VERSION OF JAWS,.)

Hi, this has happened for as long as I can remember. I just make it a habit
when installing new versions of Jaws, I check the shortcut key as soon as it
has finished installing. I've been using Jaws for quite a few years and it
has always been the same. However, I think it is only on major releases like
from 2018 to 2019 but doesn't happen when you are just upgrading to a newer
version of the same number. I always have jaws start with the computer so
have little use for the shortcut key but I still check after every update to
make sure it is still there.

Hi:

It sounds like you know how to get to remove programs. I didn’t include instructions because I don’t know which version of Windows you are using. Down arrow to the app you want to remove and press enter. Next press the tab key. You will be in a menu and can press the up or down arrow keys till you get to uninstall. Press enter to uninstall. Hope this helps.

Hello guys,
So, subject says it all. I've installed an app, and now I'd like to remove it.
Trouble is, I'm not finding any single "uninstall" button, nowhere at all.
What should I do now?

I guess I should have called it the JAWS hot key, not the desktop shortcut icon.

Google blocking sign-ins from embedded app browsers to counter man-in-the-middle attacks

This is, in my view, a good and welcome change, after all, the whole purpose of it apparently is to take care of our safety.
What do you guys think about it?
Read the article: man-in-the-middle attacks. Google is now working to counter MITM attacks by blocking sign-ins from embedded browser frameworks.

Hi Dave,

You can have more than one version of JAWS on your computer at the same time.

Are you sure that you're giving JAWS enough time after the new update? (It may take longer to start up after the update, than it would normally.)

Another alternative, in the event of a JAWS startup shortcut keystroke not working, is to go into the Run dialogue and type your version of JAWS, and then press ENTER. Thus, Windows+r; JAWS2019; and then hit Enter. JAWS will come up talking after some seconds.

Hello,

Every time I receive an Update for JAWS. After the install is finished,
and the system has rebooted, I find the JAWS Short cut Commands have
been erased from the Desk top JAWS Icon. I then need to fire up NVDA,
to come to the Rescue of JAWS. Something that happens a lot!

I then bring up the Icon properties and put in the Short cut key stroak
that will Stgart Up JAWS.

this erasing of the Short Cut happens on all three of my Systems that
use JAWS.

Is there a reasonable explanation why JAWS needs to erase its own Start
Up Short Cut Command?

Thanks for any comments on this,

Grumpy Dave

P.S. NVDA ought to be given a Medal for as many times as it has allowed
me to gain speech on a system when the other screen reader has quit for
some reason. thumbs Up for NVDA.

In Thunderbird, setting a signature up is the easier thing in the world. I was just complicating the matter unnecessary with my questions. Sorry, sometimes my curiosity goes beyond the acceptable, so to speak. LOL

I haven’t used Thunderbird.
There appear to be at least two different ‘types’ of signature. One, such as the ‘sent from my iPhone’ type, is given as the default sig whenever you send an email  from your iPhone. (Some antivirus and anti-spam products also advertise themlves by displaying what they want their signatures to say(However, you can edit this iPhone signature if you want to, or indeed, erase it when you want to send your email.)

For most other email clients that I have used, in the options dialogue there’s a Signatures tab control – a dialogue that lets you create your signature, which you do by ttyping in the edit field, and saving, whatever you would like your signature to be. There’s a checkbox you would check, if you want to send your signature on all outgoing messages. However, if you prefer to choose when to send it or not, you leave it unchecked.

I have a signature followingg this message, which I will insert, using Windows Live Mail 2012. I have it optional.

Hello guys,
In some messages I read, I have noticed that some people have in their sigs things like
"Sent from Thunderbird"
"Sent from my iPhone"
And the one I really liked
"Sent from the Dark Side of the Moon".

Is there anything I need to/should do in order to have something like that in my sig or I just type it manually?
Also, I notice that some of these sigs come along with a link to said client, for example, "Sent from (link) Thunderbird". How is it done?

Thanks for any help and my apologies if it's a too silly question :)

From Mack Sharon, would you like to turn that notification off? if so, press alt t, arrow up to options, press it. go down to privacy and start tabbing and you'll find the option to uncheck that option to save info. very important when you tab over to the General heading and want to go down through the other choices, you must have browse mode turned off, or you can't cycle down through the different headings.

Hi Kerryn,

If you have your Yahoo and Gmail email addresses in separate identities you press, Alt + F, for the file menu, arrow up / down to, Switch Identities, or press the letter, S, which will put you in a list of your identities / email accounts and up / down arrow to the identity you want and press enter.  If you don't separate the 2 accounts into identities they will both share the same In-box and other default folders.

Hi David & Rick;
Would it be possible if 1 or both of you, or anyone else on the list would
please explain the differences between Accounts & Identities?  I for 1 and
know of many others who really have a hard time understanding the
differences.  It would be really nice if someone would break them down into
basic lamens terms so, at least for me anyway, my ears will stop glazing
over when I hear these terms.  For example:  How does a person have multiple
accounts under 1 identity or multiple identities under 1 account.  All help
/ explanations will be greatly appreciated by many.  Thanks much.  Take
care.
Mike
You may have multiple accounts in a single identity but not the other way
around. An account is your email address and you can have as many of them in
a single identity as you wish.

An identity is for example if you have children or even better you and your
spouse and you both wish to use the same computer but not the same email
account. Also for this example she likes different settings than you do, for
example she likes her contacts to be displayed and you don't. The way around
that is to setup an identity for her with the settings she likes. Then there
can be some semblance of household harmony because she isn't changing your
settings and you aren't changing hers. You like your preview pain turned on
and she doesn't ETC.

Let me know if I can be more clear on this subject as I am not sure how far
to take this scenario.

Yes the messages for both accounts would land in the same inbox. The only way you 2 could have your own settings would be to create an identity for each
person.
