Re: Thunderbird's Codification. I REALLY NEED HELP WITH IT!

Hey Gene,
Never mind it.
I found out that this is a Yahoo thing.
So no matter what I could do, of course the problem would persist :)
You know what's the bad part? I spent almost 3 hours doing and undoing settings on Thunderbird, I really tried everything I could think of, obviously to no avail, since I found out right after I was too tired to keep trying that other people were having the same?? problem.
Hell! I should've read the emails before trying things. Ok, I've learned my lesson, at least!

But anyway, thanks for answering :)

Cheers,

Subject: [TechTalk] Thunderbird's Codification. I REALLY NEED HELP WITH IT!

Hi all,
My Thunderbird just decided that it would be a good idea to not show accented letters, and so it's doing.
And it's really driving me crazy, because whenever I send some Portuguese stuff, I need these accented letters. The problem is that, with this happy decision, it will put question marks in place of said letters, making them all show like ??????.
Oddly enough, it's only happening when I answer to some list I'm on. In other words, answering private emails the letters are printed out as they should.

Suggestions, please? I'm really about to go out screaming because of it!

Cheers,
Marcio AKA Starboy

Lance, what's your reason for wanting a tablet? For instance, why would a
tablet fit the bill for you instead of a phone running Android?

I believe that sharing such details will make it possible for you to get
some pretty cool advice and or suggestions!

Unfortunately not.

I have expressed according to the manual one can use the device to listen to podcasts and other on line content.

Why  you are replying to a query when you have no idea what I'm talking about?

I have been using a Plex Talk for quite a long time and I don’t believe it is capable of doing what you want. These players are still being manufactured but no updates for years for either the hardware or the software. They are primarily a book reader, recorder, text reader and even a daisy book editor. There is a way to get connected to an online radio stream, but I have never tried this feature. The instructions should be in the user manual.

I hope this is of some help.

Got a response from the Humanware tech support team in Canada.

Said it sounds like a hardware issue.  I'm to call them tomorrow and most likely will have to send the player to them for "repairs" or replacement.

Wonder how much this all is going to cost me.

I'm sure I'm showing my age, but things sure aren't made  to last anymore.

Thanks to all  who made suggestions on how to fix my issue.

Hi James,

They fixed this bug with that damn MWB window in Windows 7 but, not in Windows 10.  I've complained many times but, they tell me to uninstall and reinstall, which doesn't work!  Anyways theyknow about this Windows 10 issue and still haven't found a fix.

While we are on the MB subject, do you or any one know how to stop MB from coming up every time I restart the PC?  Its just another thing I have to alt tab past unless I alt F4 and make it go away.

Will getting rid of it stop Real Time protection?

Sorry for that last question,  If you do not know, I can Google around for that one too.

Hi James,

I purchased our licenses several years ago, so I don't know if lifetime licenses are even being sold anymore.  You would have to look at various websites that sell Malwarebytes like Amazon, Staples, New Egg.... to name a few.  I've done various searches from time to time and haven't found a lifetime license in quite a long time but, it doesn't hurt to check every once in awhile.

Hi All,

For those of you that run a licensed version and not a free version of the latest 3.7.1 Malwarebytes.  Are you getting the following offer / notification when you open the program and when you try to navigate the innerface?

Try Premium for 14 days free. No credit card required.Email
No thanks, I just want to scan Button

I get this message with all versions of Jaws and with NVDA.  I have a lifetime license and don't understand why this offer / notification pops up but, here's the weird thing, it's only read by screen reading programs!  It's not visible to sighted people!  I've sent a message to MWB support but, I want to make sure that others are experiencing the same thing so I can report to MWB what others say as well.  All input will be appreciated and very helpful.  Thanks much.

If you are using the plex talk pocket that should be easy to do.  Also it may help to read the built in user's guide.

I've been looking around and this is a very old plugin.  It may still work in new versions of Winamp, but I don't know.  I also don't know how easy it is to find.  I looked on two or three sites and the download links no longer worked.  But others may have it and may make it available.  It appears to have been a well liked plugin.

Winyl

Whilst listening to an episode of the "Mike's Tech Show" podcast, Mike Smith mentioned he'd found a new small-footprint media player he was just over the moon about. It's called Winyl, available from https://winyl-player.github.io/. Has anyone ever heard of it? I can't imagine replacing Winamp with anything, so before even trying it, I thought I'd ask this community what it knows about it.

You will probably find some things you will have to get used to, such as that the interface for working with settings and features is different.  Chrome uses one menu.  I would suggest trying it, perhaps going through a tutorial that a member has made available and probably will give the link for in this thread.  but for just plain browsing, you don't have to learn much of anything so you can try that right away.  One important thing to know is that control l is used if you want to type an address.  Control o doesn't take you to that place in the program.
