Hi David,

Chances are it's a setting that's preventing you from sending emails.  Have you checked your server settings or maybe the server settings need to be updated.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go dodgers!

Hello all

Thunderbird is driving me to drink, and I'm not a drinker. What email
program is easy to use, and blind friendly? My desktop computer has
livemail, but it has a problem and won't send emails anymore, and this
laptop has thunderbird, and it's very entagginizing.

Any ideas from you folks would be most welcommed.

Re: I'm wanting to change email programs,

Dave

Hi David,

Well, I am not sure what Email program to Suggest, as all that I have
tried has given me one kind of problem or another.  And while it is
probably User Error, in most of these situations, my Ego still is not
ready to accept the Blame for being Incompetent.

If Outlook works, then there ya go.  I have purposely avoided it, since
it first came out way back in the Stone Age.    Not because it was a Bad
program, but mostly because it was a Microsoft program, and I just was
being a Brat about it.   I still miss Word Perfect, so you know where I
am coming from.

And I don't hate Microsoft either, but then again. . .

I've used Becky, and it worked, but I just never caught on to the design
of the program.  It just seemed like the program logic was something I
just never mastered.  So, I moved to Thunderbird, after trying it 6
years ago, and ditching it for Becky.

When Becky gave me Headaches, I figured to give Thunderbird another
try.    And almost everything works well for me, but I still can't add
email Addresses into the Address Book, which I figure is probably so
easy, that I'll die of shame once I figure it out.

And I have finally learned to use the Spell Checker, but I still find it
to be not as Strong as I wish it was.

And sometimes I have issues finding an Attached file    .  But this is
not become big enough to cause me to ditch the program.

What about Thunderbird is pushing you to Drink?

<Smile>  I once had employment where I thought an awful lot about doing
some Drinking.  Never did, But Thank God those days are over.

Good Luck finding a replacement program.

Grumpy Dave

Re: placing items in amazon shopping cart

In addition, if you place an item in your amazon wish list, the current
price at the time you look at the wish list will be displayed.
Hope this helps

Re: placing items in amazon shopping cart

Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.

Troy, if you save an item for a later purchase, the most current price for
the item saved will be displayed. The only caveat is, for how long will a
saved item be retained? Some carts may keep it for 30 days and then discard
it, others perhaps for a few hours. What's important is to be fully
apprised of amazon.com's policy on the subject matter. Hopefully, it does
have more than enough to read on its website.

Sincerely,

How to download amazon music

Kay Malmquist

Hi all,
If you can believe this, I have never downloaded any music from Amazon.  I have a few CD's that I have bought that apparently I can download as well.  I am using an old version of Firefox on an XP machine just to let you all know right up front.  I have found my purchased music but I can not for the life of me figure out how to download the albums.  If someone can help me I'd really appreciate it.  I have a couple of CD's I'd like to get but they are only available as a download.

placing items in amazon shopping cart

Troy Burnham

Hi all,

A friend of mine told me that if I add an item to my amazon shopping cart that I may want to buy in the future that it makes it easy to go back and see if the price on the item has dropped. If the price does drop though will the new price be shown if the item is on my saved list or does it have to be in the actual cart before the new price will show?

Thanks.

This link for the mobile site should work.  The link I gave yesterday may be a link that the site doesn't want you to enter as a way to reach it.  I just found it with Google and it worked when I tested it.

I don't follow the site closely enough to know if the main site is unreliable.  it seems to me to either be reliable or more reliable than the mobile site.  On the rather infrequent times I want to get weather on the Internet, I check the mobile page for my city first because I like the format of the forecasts and the way information is given, and if its down, I check the National Weather Service page for my city.

Gene,

So is it just wunderground.com, or is the word braille in there somewhere?

I saw times even last year during the hurricane season that I could get to the site at times and other times I couldn't, but it seemed like it was available when I wanted to track a storm so maybe it'll be the same this year. There's nothing out there right now.

Re: Why does fan come on high speed on certain websites?

Gene

That is very unlikely.  That sort of response occurs when something makes the processor work harder and produce more heat.  I don't know what may be occurring that might cause that but if you want to verify what I'm saying, you can check your processor use when the fan is slow compared to when it is fast.  You can do this in the task manager.  I don't know if your interface is the same as the Windows 7 interface so I won't describe how this is done now.  If you don't get a description, I'll give it for Windows 7 in a later message.

Subject: [TechTalk] Why does fan come on high speed on certain websites?

I have an older laptop that works well overall for surfing the net, I
have Windows 8.1, the latest JAWS update and use Internet Explorer and
sometimes Chrome.  I've noticed over the past few months that when
accessing certain websites, Youtube for example but certainly not
exclusively, the coolling fan kicks on to high speed and the webpage
takes a while to load.  This does not happen with my desktop computer,
a newer and faster system.  Still, the laptop is a quad core 2.1 with
16 GB RAM so I worry that something is slowly dying.

Any suggestions or opinions are greatfully accepted.

Thanks in advance!

Peter

Re: You Tube volume issue

Gene

You said the volume in the player is set at maximum.  I don't think the volume level in Windows will apply but you can try the following.

Start the video playing.  Then press and hold the Windows key and type r.
When the run dialog opens, type sndvol and press enter.
The Windows volume control will open.
Tab through the items and you will find a volume setting for Chrome or the player, I'm not sure what it will be.  Try setting that and see what happens.

Apparently, it gives you some kind of internal error, whatever that is.  And
people have said they don't intend to fix it, and that we should just use
the regular weather underground.  I've tried, and it's a lot more
complicated.  You have to go here and there to find what you could find
