I remember reading on a forum a few years ago about someone with a
similar issue using a dell laptop. This person reported that when a
computer moniter was plugged into the laptop, everything worked fine,
however, the actual laptop screen was dead. They used this laptop with
an external monitor until they sent it off to a dell repair center.
They ended up having to replace the whole screen. Anyway, you could
try to plug in an external monitor if you have one on your laptop to
see if this works for you. It's not a great solution, but if it works
you could at least retrieve all of your data and software settings and
such.

Jim, perhaps keep it simple;sorry sir, I can't really answer your question.
Here's what you could do:

Save the document as a Word document. Then, launch Documents, find the
saved document, copy it to the clipboard.

Launch the mail app, type the desired E-mail address in the "TO" Field, add
a subject header if desired, then maybe type a short something in the body
of the message, press Ctrl+C and the document on the Clipboard will be
attached, then press the Send button.

Hopefully I didn't make things too complicated; but now I can sit back and
let the gurus set me straight for screwing up, <LOL!>

This sounds like a hardware problem. I don't think it can be resolved
except by a technician. I don't know enough about such problems to know if
the cost would be worth it. As I said in a previous message, if you boot

So what is so great about this? I've installed software for years that goes out and downloads very specific year packages and versions without any interference from me. These softwares are still very much in use, so does this mean that they might not be able to find these older versions and editions when being installed?

My Frigidaire has a mostly flat panel, but the buttons are slightly raised, like little plastic bubbles.?? Is this what you mean, or do you mean a completely flat screen with no tactile surface?
