Task Manager Alternatives
Bhavya shah
Dear all,
I use NVDA on a Windows 8.1 laptop, and require to monitor resource consumption - how much CPU and RAM certain apps and processes are taking up. I find Task Manager inadequate for this purpose, mostly for reasons such as a clunky and partly inaccessible/inconvenient interface, and significant resource consumption of its own. Hence, I am looking for an alternative program or software of this very nature. I would greatly appreciate any inputs or suggestions that are known to be accessible software for the above described purpose. Thanks. -- Best Regards Bhavya Shah Blogger at Hiking Across Horizons: https://bhavyashah125.wordpress.com/ E-mail Address: bhavya.shah125@gmail.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bhavyashah125/

Re: android accessibility
Kerryn,
does it have any mailing list for my subject line?Yes, there is a couple that I ever recommend in topics like this one. The first is the Eyes Free list. This was supposed to be the official list for all things related to Android and Google Accessibility, although every now and then topics that aren't in fact off topic are being flagged as this. Go figure... Not to mention that things there can get a bit hard sometimes with folks discussing whether Apple is better than Google etc etc. Anyway, should you want to join, send a blank email to eyes-free+subscribe@... Now, if you want a list to talk freely (that is, without moderation) about Android, with the plus of plenty of friendly folks, then you should give ANTAD a go. Nowadays when it comes to Android this is the best list I've ever seen. All kinds of discussion happens there as well, only that it's always in a very polite way and there's no disrespectful messages if you don't agree with something. So, should you want to join, send a blank email to antad+subscribe@... Cheers, Marcio AKA Starboy Sent from a galaxy far, far away. --Are you a Thunderbird user? Then join the Thunderbird mailing list to help and be helped with all Thunderbird things - questions, features, add-ons and much more!

Hi List, I am having a bit of trouble remembering how to create a new folder in my Gmail account, since it was set up so long ago.
Since Control plus N is for a new message, would Control plus Shift plus N do it and from where must I do that?
Thanks very much for any pointers!

similar issue using a dell laptop. This person reported that when a computer moniter was plugged into the laptop, everything worked fine, however, the actual laptop screen was dead. They used this laptop with an external monitor until they sent it off to a dell repair center. They ended up having to replace the whole screen. Anyway, you could try to plug in an external monitor if you have one on your laptop to see if this works for you. It's not a great solution, but if it works you could at least retrieve all of your data and software settings and such. HTH, Blaster

This sounds like a hardware problem. I don't
think it can be resolved except by a technician. I don't know enough about
such problems to know if the cost would be worth it. As I said in a
previous message, if you boot the machine, and see nothing while the machine is
booting up, before Windows is loaded, and that is true when you shine a bright
light on the screen such as a Flashlight, it sounds as though something has
failed in the hardware.
If that is the case and you want to verify my
diagnosis, I'm not a tech and I don't have enough knowledge to do more than make
a reasonable guess, you can ask about it on the site:
You would have to join the appropriate forum to ask
about this problem.
I'm trying to guard against you spending time and
money on something that may not be worth repairing.

yahoo fantasy sports help needed please
Troy Burnham
Hi all,
I've been playing fantasy sports on ESPN.com with a few friends for years but ESPN has made it much harder to do things lately so as the person who sets up the leagues I want to move to yahoo. Has anyone here set up a league on yahoo? If so I have a few questions. I'm currently playing fantasy baseball in a yahoo league but I wasn't the one who created the league. Btw I know that leagues can be created on the phone, but at least one of the friends I play with doesn't own a smart phone so I'm going to want to know how to do things on the computer so I can help this friend if needed. Thanks. Troy

So what is so great about this? I've installed software for years that goes out and downloads very specific year packages and versions without any interference from me. These softwares are still very much in use, so does this mean that they might not be able to find these older versions and editions when being installed?

Re: Looking for Blind Friendly Window Air Conditioner Suggestions
Gerald Levy
You might try calling Friedrich directly at 800-541-6645 to find out whether there are any authorized dealers near you where you can see their air conditioners in person.?? If you order one from Amazon, I think they offerthird party installation at additional cost. Unfortunately, the touchpad on my Friedrich air conditioner is completely flat with no way of distinguishing the buttons without adding tactile markers, which I haven't bothered to do because I find the remote, with its large, tactile buttons very convenient to use instead.?? Keep in mind that all window air conditioners with electronic controls have digital thermostat displays that require sighted help to set the desired temperature.?? In the old days, the thermostat could be?? easily set by a rotary knob or mechanical slide lever, but this blind-friendly feature is no longer offered on today's electronic units.
