Re: extremely upset
Gene
You may not need sighted assistance. I doubt
that changing the interface changes anything in the system tray.
The system tray dialog may not work efficiently
with NVDA since the update. But you can get to the menu people are used to
working with in the following way:
Move to the system tray with Windows key
b.
Find the DropBox icon.
Once there, press enter.
The context menu will open.
Find properties and press enter.
Try tabbing around. Do you see anything about
using the old interface? Since there is a button about trying the new
interface if you haven't switched, there is likely something about using the
original or old or however they word it interface.
I haven't played with this because I don't want to
change the interface as an experiment. Also, I find the user error
hypothesis to be unlikely. That would imply that you changed the setting
to cause the new interface to be displayed. Since doing so requires an
active change, going to the system tray and changing the setting, the program
may have changed the settings on its own. It may be that this shouldn't
happen, but unless you are a sleepwalker and use computers in your sleep, user
error, though possible, can't be assumed.
I believe I have the latest version of the
program. When it updated, nothing changed in my settings so your
experience may be an anomaly.

ccleaner accessibility
David Mehler
Hello,
Trying to use ccleaner it's v5.60 I believe and IMO accessibility has really gone downhill. How are people using it to clean their machines? I am wanting to individually select items in the list of items to be cleaned, but there is no indication of whether they're selected or not. Suggestions welcome. Thanks. Dave.

internet storage

I currently have a paid sendspace account. Are there cheaper alternatives for storage and sharing of files. If I cannot share files from the account as I can do with sendspace, I am not interested in the service. Currently it is almost 100 u s dollars a year for the paid s s account. I would like to find something less expensive but accessible. I would not need more than 100 gig of storage? Suggestions? Thanks, Monte

Josh Kennedy <joshknnd1982@...>
I emailed fonixTalk or whatever they are called now about using decTalk. would you believe they want a starting price of $9000.00 united states dollars for the old decTalk developer kit, sdk? I told them no, I'll just use the free decTalk stuff that is currently available around the internet for free. It's that old I don't think they really care because people for the most part have moved onto eloquence or Nuance vocalizer voices anyway. Is there anyone on here who still uses infovox230? the old from from telia promotor back in the late 1990s early 2000s?

Earlier in this thread, I asked what version of Drop Box you are using. I am using 76.4.126. I always let my Drop Box update automatically. Is this the latest version? If so, I am not having any interface issues. When I open the context menu or double left click on it. All the buttons/edit fields are accessible.

Gene and Ann,
Gene asked:
When you were automatically updated to the latest DropBox version, was the new inaccessible interface used automatically or did you get a message, even an inaccessible message where you could see a yes and no option?Well, as far as I know, my Dropbox is 100% up to date and so far I haven't gotten any question on this. And my Dropbox is still fully accessible *knocking on wood*. Gene wrote: Also, according to DropBox, you can set your preferences so DropBox will open using the old display. Can you get to preferences and work with them from the system tray as you could in earlier versions? If so, that may well solve your problem. It makes me wonder if my dropbox is indeed up to date. Because I don't see this option of old display and such. However, going to Preferences, I can see a button labeled "try the new Dropbox for Desktop" or something like that. Needless to say that I haven't clicked on this since who knows what kind of problems this could give me :) I know it doesn't help much, but this is just my two cents on the matter. Soe I said, screw this, and wound up installing Classic Shell, and now I have a working search box again. But he did manage to fix an annoying problem that cropped up after the update that other Windows 10 users have reported.?? Normally, the Windows Defender system tray icon reports, "no actions needed".?? But after the update, it changed to?? "recommended actions", even though Defender reported no threats detected.?? He found some obscure setting in Windows Defender that had been altered by the update, fixed it, and now the icon has been restored to the normal "no actions needed".
