openbook help please

rex wisdom

I am using the latest version of Obenbook and JAWS.  I am using windows 10 home on a 17.4 HP laptop with all software up to date.

I installed the latest version of Openbook from the website with the pearl camera installed in the usp port.  Openbook will not recognize the pearl camera.  What did I do wrong, and how can I get Obenbook to find the pearl camera?

Thank you for your help.

.wav to .mp3 converter

George McCoy <slr1bpz@...>

I'm looking for a free, easy-to-use windows 10 app for converting .wav files to .mp3.  The person I am working with is not very tech savvy so I hesitate to recommend full-blown audio editors like Audacity.

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

George

Hi Stephen, here is a link that I found while researching this topic on the Internet. The most viable of all these options seems to contact the manufacturer for the device. Please go through this link and see if it helps:

I realized today that the problem with my headset with in-line microphone is that it only works with devices like my cell phone that only have one jack. My BrailleNote Touch Plus has two separate jacks for a headset and a microphone. I don't have a microphone.

I may try the Bluetooth headset again. What I meant to say about that is the sound quality isn't as sharp as that of the device's built-in mic, but it might be better than fluctuating volume. Thanks for all your help.

Polaris Mini File Transfers

Joe Orozco

Hello,

I recently purchased a Polaris Mini off someone. I’m having trouble
transferring data between the Polaris Mini and my PC. Even though the
cable seems to charge the Polaris, the PC is not recognizing the
device as an external hard drive; therefore, I am unable to transfer
files. He did not send me the original cable, but while I’ve heard of
some cables being unable to charge a device due to insufficient
wattage, I’ve never heard of one that will not, at the very least,
transfer data. Even the cheap ones should do that, and the cable he
provided is not a cheap one. Is there a setting in the Polaris I need
to toggle to be able to use it as a mass storage device?

Another annoying issue I’ve noticed is that when I attempt to put the
Polaris to sleep while connected to the PC, it says I cannot enter
into sleep mode. It goes to sleep anyway, but then, when turned back
on, it won’t allow me to use the left scroll buttons unless I
completely reboot the device.

Sorry, I’ve tried reading through the user manual, but HIMS does a
pretty terrible job about explaining such things. Any help would be
very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

Control k moves you to an edit field where you type the search.  When you press enter, the results page comes up.  But that isn't the page you want as your home page.  That is the page with the specific results of your search.

Go to the Google home page in the usual way.  I'll tell you what to do next later today, after I've looked at the procedure.  But you may decide you want another home page because you can type a search after the command control k.  So having Google as a home page would seem to be largely redundant.

I just wanted to thank you all for helping me with Fire Fox. It's
working great.  I had no trouble downloading and when I launched it, it
asked me if I wanted to make it my default browser and I clicked on it.
I didn't have to do all of the things that I needed to do for chrome.
It also reads Facebook just like IE. I'm thrilled about that.  I have
one more question, is there any settings that I need to know about?  I
am very simple.  I just enter web pages by typing in the addresses and I
don't use bookmarks.  I couldn't just hit Control L to search.  It
actually said where to search so I didn't have to type Control L.  Is
there any way I can get rid of that and I can just type it in as
normal?  I never had to set Chrome or IE so just wondered if this was
any different.  This is brand new to me.  Now for my final question,
what are the commands to make google my home page?  I tried the commands
in Chrome but it didn't work.  Thanks again for everything.

Can you highlight and copy the contents of that e-mail and paste it
into a new email and try to send it out to your list? The remote
server may not like forwarded messages, sending it out directly from
your email account may pass the spam filter.

Safe Mode and Start Options

Mike B.

Howdy All,

I'm wanting to get to, Startup options, on a Dell computer running Windows 10.  The computer had a snafoo while updating one of the 1903 versions and I want to find the start option using the last known good configuration.  I can get into safe mode tapping the, F2 key, while the computer is booting up, but my wife didn't see the start options.  Do I need to tap a different key or, are the start options in amongst the other safe mode options?  If anyone has other suggestions please let me know.  All help will be greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.  Thanks much.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go dodgers!

Re: Fluctuating Recording Volume

Since it isn’t a USB device, there wouldn’t be any settings to adjust for it.  You might want to call support for the Braille Note and see if they can tell you anything.  I don’t know how you might get support for the app.  Do you just have a microphone, such as you would use for a tape recorder to test with?

The headset microphone plugs into a headset jack. In the Sound Recorder Pro settings, when selecting a mic, it comes up as unprocessed. That could be part  of the problem. USB headsets don't work with  this device.

You said the sound is tinny.  But that isn’t the same as the severe volume attenuation you demonstrated in your sample.  Do you get the same attenuation or is the sound tinny?  The volume attenuation you demonstrated is to remove ambient noise and present only the sound, meant for use with speech.

It behaves the same way whether I use the headsetwith in-line microphone or the external mic. I've tried a Bluetooth headset, but the sound is tinny. There's no other filter, and the only other settings have to do with sampling rate, mono-stereo, and silence skipping options.

Hi,

Earlier today I got the braille monitor magazine. A big email. I tried reading it and the iPod touch said due to a repeated problem the email could not be displayed. I had to use safari with the gmail website and read it instead. Is this an apple mail bug? I am running iOS 12.4 the latest version. iOS13 is not out yet.
