Outlook 2010 Help Please.

Janet

HI Everyone,
I usually can delete an address from the to field, and type a different address in the to field if I wanted to, but as of today, when I want to reply to a message, and delete the original address, and type another address, I get a message from Outlook 2010, saying Microsoft is not responding, and Jaws just completely freezes, and I have to restart my Windows 7 other wise, Jaws is frozen, or at least this is what I think. If Jaws isn't talking, I have no idea what is going on. Can someone please let me know what I might do about this. Just to give an example, I see Gene's email message, and I want to reply to him off list. I used to press tab and shift until I got to the to field, and press the back space or the delete key, and that would delete the address, and I could then add a different address, but now that doesn't work.
All help will be appreciated.
Thank you all.
Janet

Peace Be With You.

Hi Dave,

You are correct.  In a search result I found steps and thought they were for Notepad, but they turned out to be for Wordpad.  Thanks much.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go dodgers!

Hi All,

Running Windows 7 with J16 thru J2019.  How do I change line spacing in Notepad?  Doing a search suggests to click on paragraph marks and choose from the dropdown, but where the hell do I find the paragraph mark to click on?  LOL  LOL

It certainly isn't in the page set-up under the file menu, at least Jaws doesn't read it.  All help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for that information. For me, when all else fails, call JAWS technical support. *smile*

Here is what they told me to do:

While in the browser, hit insert+v then type select. Down arrow to select copy from … you will either be on from virtual cursor, or on from full screen. If you are on full screen, it makes everything screwy. I changed it to from virtual cursor, and voila, I can now copy from web sites with no problem.

Hi TerriLynne.  I had the same problem on medical reference sites.  I would select and copy some text, and either would not get what I selected when I pasted into Word, or my cursor would jump and I would find myself in the middle of an ad.  In Internet Explorer, I just turned on popup blocker by doing alt-T for tools, arrow up once to Internet Options and hit enter, hit ctrl-tab until you get to the privacy page, and then use the tab key to get to “turn on popup blocker check box unchecked.  Hit spacebar to check that box and tab to apply, hit spacebar to apply, and then hit okay.  Turning on popup blocker helped me a lot to be able to select text and get my cursor to stay put.

It isn't clear whether this is one site or more where this problem occurs.  If its one site, there may be something odd about how the site is coded to display but if it is a general problem, I'm not sure what's causing it.

Hello!
I don't quite understand why your cursor would be moving around. On a web page, the cursor should move up down, right, and left just like in a word document. Is the virtual PC cursor on? you should be able to hold the shift key down, and down arrow to select the lines you want, and then paste them into a word document. you can always bookmark the Page, by pressing control + d and then pressing enter. then you can go to your bookmarks and read that web page whenever you want. you may want to reinstall Jaws or other screen reader, because your cursor should not be moving around on the website. Take care!

If you use Notepad and copy the whole page, see if that makes it easier to find what you are looking for.

If you send the address for a page with a recipe, I and others can look at it and see if we have suggestions to make doing this easier.

Your suggestion sounds good, and it is how I used to do things. But now, with all of the third party advertisements, graphics, and so on, this does not work.

I have even tried using find to get myself back to the place I want to be, but when I switch to Office to write or paste, and return, to the original page, my place is lost.

I don't know what is causing the problem but I can tell you how to work around it.  It isn't as efficient as working with the page but use control a, copy all, when on the page.  Then copy the page to the clipboard and paste it into Notepad.  You can now look at the text without the cursor moving problem.

If you use find to look for something that places you at or near the beginning of the article, this method will be reasonably efficient.

Take care!

Is anyone using the internet to get information they want to keep? If so, how are you accomplishing this?

I don't know what is causing the problem but I can tell you how to work around it.  It isn't as efficient as working with the page but use control a, copy all, when on the page.  Then copy the page to the clipboard and paste it into Notepad.  You can now look at the text without the cursor moving problem.

If you use find to look for something that places you at or near the beginning of the article, this method will be reasonably efficient.

Re: I may be in hospital

Here is an update.

I was really lucky.  My doctor had an opening today.  I went there and she said I shouldn't go to the ER now.  We are going to work on the problem and she told me about alternatives to hospitalization concerning the problem I didn't know about.  for now, that of course is the much preferable option and if things go well, I won't have to be in hospital.

I'm going to have an unexpected health problem checked today.  I feel fine but I may be in hospital so I may not be as active on the list.  I'm sure Laaz will do a good job dealing with anything that may come up..

Please don't clutter the list with good wishes messages to me.  You may send them to
Since the messages are directed to me, they would just be clutter on list.

I don't know if the problem is serious or not but it needs to be checked.

Some recipe  sites are easier than others to copy  material from and to navigate

Try;

www.simply-recipes.com

once I type the recipe I want in the search field, I press enter  then I press h for heading till I hear the name of the recipe, and I usually tab and down arrow til I hear ingredients.  And after that procedure.  There seems to be all kinds of photos and other  stuff in between,  like placing an on line groceryorder.

But I do find recipes.

If some one know of an easier site to navigate, please tell.
