Yes, I found that as well. No matter how hard I tried I could not rap my head around voice over on the mac.

I had a macbook pro back in 2010. I used it for a month and then went back to windows. I like my iPhone/iPod touch. But I would never get a mac again.

Re: Talks mailing list
Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.
Well, let's quickly correct a few impressions: Eloquence For Android is
going away. CodeFactory claims not to be making enough to justify continued update. Hmm, why is that the case for CodeFactory? For the most part, in Androidville, when your app offering is over-priced, it will die. Reason? There are too many apps to choose from that either exceed, or come close to exceeding what the over-priced app does. In the case of Eloquence, $18.99-$19.99 is a tad high; there are TTS's as low as $3.99 and some are even free. The other problem going for CodeFactory is that it DOES NOT WISH to CONVERT the Eloquence 32Bit code to a 64Bit code. Hmm, that's crazy 'cause in a few short years, Google will NO LONGER ACCEPT 32Bit code apps in its Play Store. All that aside, if you currently have Eloquence For Android, you can continue to use it until 64Bit code requirement kicks in in full force. And, we're just about a bit over a year close to that. Please note that Eloquence For Windows will still be available from CodeFactory; in that wise, no need to fret if Windows is your OS toy! Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

I think that the symbian talks screen reader is pretty much dead. I don't think you can even buy it anymore. And good luck finding a symbian phone. Both android and iPhone will run the knfb reader. But if you want a phone with good keyboard access, I would go with iPhone. If you like your phone to have the eloquence jaws voice, then android is your best option. They both are similar in how you operate them, the basics of using the phones, that is.

Re: Brand new to Mac, is Macbook Pro A1502 a good starter machine
Josh Kennedy <joshknnd1982@...>
I had a macbook pro back in 2010. I used it for a month and then went back to windows. I like my iPhone/iPod touch. But I would never get a mac again.
first, you have to always interact and stop interacting with objects to get anything done. Lets say you are on a toolbar. First to see what is in the toolbar you have to hit a special command to interact with it. And in some cases you have to hit that command 2 or 3 times to do what you want. Then you have to stop interacting for an equal amount of times to get back to where you were previously at. Also the mac does not have eloquence and all the tts voices my pc has. So that was another letdown for me. And last, I could not do advanced stuff in microsoft office such as reading charts in excel with jaws. So if you need advanced office stuff. Sorry, the mac won't let you do some of that. And also, audio games. There are many more audio games for windows than there are for the mac. So even though I had a macbook pro, after less than a month, I installed windows7 onto it using bootcamp and mostly booted the mac into windows and used it as a really expensive overkill pc. And since it was windows running on mac, it did have some issues with audio, the keyboard and some other stuff I do not remember. Afterwards in about 2 yers, I sold the mac and bought a used pc with windows7 on it. Used that for a few years, got a free laptop from someone. Then bought an RCA cambio windows10 2-in-1 laptop. It is quite slow. So in January I will be getting a much better laptop that runs 64bit windows10. The RCA cambio only runs windows10 32bit and it is quite slow. But I was strapped for cash at the time and $100 for a slow laptop was better than nothing at all.

Brand new to Mac, is Macbook Pro A1502 a good starter machine
Steven Johnson <saxmonger@...>
I have always been a PC user, although I enjoy my iPhone. I want to start learning to use the Mac. I have a chance to pick up a Macbook Pro A1502 with the Yosemite OS for about $100 later this year. Is it a dinosaur, or will it serve a beginner’s needs for a while. Regretfully, I am totally Mac ignorant. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi the xlsx extension is the newest version of Excel. It is part of the newest office programs. IF you have an older version of excel you may not be able to open the .xlsx files.
Hope this helps. From Shaz. Canberra, Australia.

I checked again today and, for accuracy, my cuff
has a metal bar. I thought it didn't but I checked with a new cuff that
has thinner material and it does. Not that it matters particularly, but I
want to be accurate.
There may not be any way to know for sure, but your
machine sounds like the Speak To Me machine, though another brand and model
might have the same features.

I would like to give my thanks to Carlos as well, and I know he is rooting for us! Where Carlos is, is a perfect place as described in Revelation, and he would not want to come back here! He is waiting for us to come to him, I am sure of that! I still use his programs, and virtual recorder is still a great program, and his Windows 10 installers are a great help! God bless Debbie, and those who got the ball rolling! I have been a real techie for only five years. When I learned JAWS 20 years ago, I had a great teacher to get me started. Alert: Today's Zoom Update Breaks Access to Certain Dialogs When Using a Screenreader
Steve Matzura
In today's Zoom update to version 4.5.5452-1010, a new bug has been introduced wherein whenb a host chooses an option for a meeting participant from the drop-down menu next to the participant's name, one of two access problems can occur, depending on the chosen function.
1. If a menu item is chosen which does not require a yes or no response from the host, such as muting the participant's audio, requesting that the participant start their video, allowing or inhibiting recording, etc., the function is executed, but the menu does not close. Workaround: Press ESCAPE. 2. If the chosen menu option requires a second (yes/no) response from the host, such as when the host wants to make a participant a co-host or host, the menu closes, but no screenreader sees this secondary dialog. However, if the host computer is running JAWS, the workaround is to stop JAWS by pressing the JAWS Key plus F4, then restart it and returning to the conference screen. The Yes and No buttons can then be access by pressing the TAB key.
