A Computer Weirdness that turned out Positive!

Dave

My experiences with Computer Weirdness's are usually not Fun, and so
often cause me to pull my Hair out while trying to fix it.

but, finally, I have a Strange Computer Weirdness that has turned out
for the better.  Not Kidding!

For a long time now, I have used Gold Wave to record and Edit stuff I
listen to from the Internet.   Sometimes those recordings can go for an
hour or more, up to 5 hours at times.

I have always had to manually stop the Recording when the Lecture ended,
but not any more.

No matter how long or short the video, when it ends, Gold Wave stops
recording, and then waits for me to do something.

There may be a Switch inside Gold Wave that allows this to happen all
the time, but up until the last couple of weeks, I've never found such a
switch.

Some how some way, if there is a Switch, it has gotten flipped, and I
have no idea how it happened.

But, at least this Weirdness turns out to be a Good one, instead of the
kind that cause me to Bang my Head against the Wall.

As you say, "unless you the user, wishes to take out the “internal memory,” beneath the battery and access it."  Only speculating:  I can then plug that chip into a card reader and acccess it using my computer.  And what would I see?  What would be the language of the apps programmed there?  Would they be decompilable, editable, recompilable, etc.?  I bought a second stream so I could do just those things with my first; and if I really mess it up, I'll still have a good stream.

Hello Monte, when you get to a file or podcast or radio recording on the internal memory press the number 3 key twice. The first press says delete and the second press says move file to sd card then press the pound key twice and the file will be removed from the internal memory and moved to the sd  card.

Hi Kerryn,

If you're running J2018 and up & Windows 10 and your screen is dark I believe you're referring to the Screen Shade feature.  Below are 2 ways of enabling / disabling.

1. Hold down the, Insert key, and press the, spacebar, to activate the layerd keystrokes feature, now press the, Print Screen key, and this will toggle Screen Shade on / off.

2. To check if the Screen Shade feature is on or off, go into the quick settings menu with, Insert + V, or Capslock + V. if you are using the laptop layout
In the search field type, shade, and press enter.
Next, down arrow one time and JAWS should state whether Screen Shade is checked or nott.
If it's checked pres the spacebar to uncheck / disable it, then tab to the, Okay button and press enter to save and close quick settings.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go Rams!

When I first received my iPhone 7 Plus, a woman helped me set it up with all of the various apps. I asked her which operating system she preferred. She told me that she liked the windows operating system better than the Mac operating system because she thought windows was more flexible. But she also said that she thought the iPad Pro and its operating system was just as good as windows. Go figure! This just shows that every opinion is different. You know what they say about opinions. LOL

One of the things I enjoy about the 365 subscription is the 1TB of
Onedrive storage that is included.
If you share it with your family members, each person can install it on
5 machines and also has their own 1TB of onedrive access.
I'm speaking specifically of the Home version not the personal. Not
sure if the personal version includes Onedrive access.

Sis Vicki W., if you want a stand-alone Microsoft Office,
you will need to purchase one from 2010 through 2019. I
don't know whether newer is better, I'm a crazy
nonconformist still running Office2007 Ultimate NO LONGER
supported by Microsoft, but it still works and I don't have
any compatibility issues with files created in newer
versions!

Office365 is subscription based. You will owe Microsoft
about $9.99 per month; I think I heard that an annual
payment of $99 and change is a possibility. I understand
you can run this on about three computers. I have also
heard that it is constantly updated.

For me, dear sis, I don't want a subscription based
app/software. I just want to MAKE ONE PAYMENT and use it
until the need for the next version arises. But if what I
have is serving me well, I won't even bother unless it's a
work-related requirement of some kind.

Not sure I helped, so I'll turn things over to others to
chip in and help make corrections where I've succeeded in
screwing up. No worries, I'll take the blame and shame for
all of that!

Re: Office 365 & 2016

Chris, are you saying that if I purchased the home edition of 365, I could put it on multiple machines and then those people could put their copies on multiple machines? I thought I could share it with 5 people and that was it.

Vicki

The last time I looked, it was about $30/year.

If you get the home version you can install it on up to 5 machines. I think
the personal only allows one, someone can correct me about that though.

I am a little confused as to which version of Office Professional to
purchase. I thought that when you purchased 365, 2016 was included. Has that
changed to 2019? What is the difference between 365 home and 365 personal?
Looks like just the number of people allowed to use it, but I want to make
sure. Here is what I am needing and also need to know which works best with
JAWS.

1. Used on 3 or 4 Windows computers. One may have Windows 7.

2. A stand alone version without the cloud on at least 2 computers.

3. Best version for JAWS 2019 and or 2020.

Thanks.

I thought the same, Olusegun, when I bought my computer in
2015 and bought Office 2013. At that time, I believe the
payment was as you say, $9.99 a month or $99 a year. It was
cheaper for me to do what I did too.

Best regards,

Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado
