Buzz Using 3.5 mm Patch Cord
Rich DeSteno
I have used 3.5 mm patch cords for many years to record from radios and other electronic devices. Today I wanted to set up to record from my TV cable box audio output jack, which is a 3.5 mm jack. I tried a couple of my cords, but they all had a buzz or hum in the left channel. I do not get that noise when recording off of radios or other devices. As a test, I plugged in the Apple Earbuds that came with my iPhone, and was surprised to hear clear stereo with no hum or buzz. Is there a special type of patch cord that I need for these cable boxes in order to get the clear stereo?

Re: Pontes Media Downloader

Here is how you adjust the bit rate.
New major steps start on new lines.
Open the menus with alt.
Right or left arrow until you get to options.
Down arrow until you get to program options. You may not hear speech
the first one or two times you down arrow.
Control tab to get to the media conversions part of the dialog.
Tab until you get to the settings for a kind of file. For example,
you might hear wave settings. Again, you may not hear speech the first
time you tab.
Once there, up and down arrow until you get to MP3. Tab through and
work with the items in the dialog you want to change. Ask if you have
problems.

Hi Mike and All, I’m sorry I couldn’t join all you in Carlos’s birthday, but I did celebrated though! Carlos’s birthday is the same day as my father’s is. When my family and I were out at my father’s grave site putting flowers on his grave, I bought a little blue flower for Carlos as well. I included a Prayer for Carlos, and I through the blue flower up in the sky, and said this is for you Carlos, and I thought I was going to fall over when the Blue flower landed right on my father’s grave site, so I left it there! I also had a small blue ribbon attached on the Blue flower, in which the ribbon said Happy Birthday Carlos Nazario .
God Bless You my friend! May you Rest in Peace! Your forever friend, who still misses you! Janet

I have the Wave Music System 4. I think that is there most recent update to the boombox. I am not sure if I am correct. I have an aux jack, a headphone jack, and I believe that I have a few more, I am not suffe. I will have to check. My caregivers are foreign, and they are not that tech savvy. I may have to call BOSE to ask whether that system has the RCA jacks. It may. Thank you.

Re: Pontes Media Downloader
Gene
There is a version 3.1. I like version 2.x
better. It doesn't allow you to adjust MP3 conversion settings, and the
presets are far too low for someone who wants good quality files. the
preset is about 128KBPS. That's fine for people listening on small
speakers or small portable headphones, but not for those listening on good
equipment who want good sound.
But its easier to follow what the program is doing
during a download. You can just read the title bar to find out.
I solve the MP3 problem by having material
converted to wave, then using Switch to convert wave to MP3 with the high
quality bit rate I want.

It won't tell you how many unread messages there are, but this may help until you find the way to see all the information you want. Maybe you won't want to spend time solving the problem when you can see how many messages there are. Another solution to the unread number of messages problem might be to use the below method and, before you close the program, select all the messages in your inbox and send them to another folder. I made one once called inbox backup, though I seldom use it. If you read all your mail, then send whatever you didn't delete to inbox backup, the next time you get mail, the number of messages you hear announced will be the number of unread messages so that solves that problem in a workaround. Here is the procedure. it is discussed in terms of what NVDA says but JAWS should say the same or about the same thing. Close all open emails and make sure that your cursor is resting on any closed message in the current folder. Press control+Shif+tab to opens the "Folder List". NVDA announces "Folder List minimised". Press space bar to expand the list. Arrow down to the folder you want. Note that NVDA speaks the number of messages contained in the folder after giving the folder name. You can also open the Folder List by using control+y but this view of the list does not show the number of emails contained in each folder.
