Re: When I go in to my documents to look at the files there I can't see them

Gene

I'm not sure what that means.  Do you have a sighted person who can tell you if the files are being displayed?  I'm trying to think of another way you can get to the same files.  Are you opening My Documents on the desktop?  I don't recall if you stated what version of Windows you are using but there is at least one more way to get to the folder.  Try an experiment.  Open the start menu search and type documents.  Do you see a documents folder or more than one?  Can you open them and see the files?

Others may be able to give you other ways or better ways.  I'm making a suggestion but I don't know what you will see to open.

But I'm suggesting finding another way to open the folder because you may currently be working with the library and not directly with the folder.  Something may have happened that is causing yu problems with the library but that may have nothing to do with working with the folder itself.

When I use the jaws cursor it says “select a file to preview.
Alt V doesn’t do anything while I’m in the folder.

Howdy James,

I know this driver / Microsoft replacement crap happens for some people, but fortunately I don't have this problem.  Why I don't know and wish I did, so I would know how to fix it like everyone else.  If on occasion this does happen I keep the driver with the equalizer handy so I can replace the gineric crap Windows installs.  Anyways, I'll zip up the Realtek driver I have and send the list a download link.

Realtek Driver With Equalizer

Mike B

Howdy,

Below is the download link for the Realtek driver with equalizer I use when necessary to fix a Realtek soundcard problem if this problem pops up.  Read the instruction text file before attempting the executable.  If you don't follow the instructions you'll get an error message when trying to install.  I use this driver for both Windows 7 & 10 64 bit Pro systems.

Mike, thanks much for your response. No, the problem on this computer has
been going on for 18 months and since it was new. I have computer
technicians try to repair it but no luck. I called the Microsoft handicap
help and they made an attempt but no luck. I just want to uninstall and
start over again with a new version. Also, the external soundcard sounds
interesting. Right now jaws sounds like it is in abarrel. Adios for now

Hi Fred,

Does this happen after a Windows 10 update? Windows is notorious for
removing the Realtek driver and replacing it with a Windows gineric driver,
thus causing various problems.

I am using Win 10, latest jaws and outlook 2019. I have been having
problems with real tech on this computer since I purchased it which was
about 18 months ago and I should returned it but I did not as I thought the
problem was in the settings. I have had different technicians work on this
problem but nothing has worked for long and everything seems to be
patchwork
and works for a time. I want to completely unstall real tech, drivers etc
and do a complete new installation as if it were a new computer and start
over. I want no more patchwork or repairs as I have had enough. I would
appreciate any suggestions on removing real tech and installing new
version.
Thanks much for any advice or help. I have three computers and the other 2
computers work fine with real tech.

Howdy Mike,

Pardon my lack of knowledge but, if a different driver is installed, won’t Windows update just replace it when it is detected.

While I have your ear, where can I find a RealTech driver with an equalizer?  That would be awesome if Windows updates wouldn’t replace it.

Cheers,

Hi Fred,

If you install another Realtek driver make sure it's the driver with an equalizer.

Hi all,

I have a second generation victor reader stream and I purchased the Miccus transmitter/receiver from TalkingMp3Players.com last week so I can use a bluetooth headset with the victor reader.

I plugged the transmitter into the victor and turned on the headset which immediately said it was in pairing mode because it's new as well, purchased elsewhere, then I held the button on the transmitter for 8 seconds as the audio instructions told me to do, and near the end I heard the headset say connected but just a second or 2 later it disconnected again. Before I call for tech support I wanted to see if anybody might know what I'm doing wrong and why I can't get everything to work as it should, I suspect I'm not that far off getting it right.

Thanks.

Troy

Re: the Victor reader stream and bluetooth

Troy, Two things to consider first.

1. Did you put the transmitter and your receiving device close
together during pairing?

2. Are all other Bluetooth devices in the vicinity either turned off
or had their bluetooth turned off?

You may wish to use your mom's eyesight to see the pretty lights which
is a better indicator of what the Miccus Swivel Jack RTX is doing
rather than relying on your counting at the same speed I did which was
very slowly.

I paired mine with my Echo Dot so I can use it as a computer speaker
when I wish to play something on my computer for the benefit of others
and it works beautifully.

Try the following.  It may not solve the original problem but it will very likely work around it so you don't have to solve the original problem.

When Winamp is opened, use the command control tab.  Do you move through different Winamp windows?  If so, is equalizer one of them?  If so, stop in the equalizer window.  If that window isn't opened, open it with the command alt g.  Then control tab until you are in it.
I am assuming you are using JAWS and will get speech feedback when you issue this command.  Issue the command n.  Just the letter n by itself.  It toggles the equalizer on and off.  Have it on.

Now, alt tab to the main window and start whatever you are testing with playing.
Then switch back to the equalizer window, all these window changes while you are in Winamp with control tab.
press the key above the tab.  It is the grave.  Press it, then wait a second or two.  You should hear a little volume increase.  Press it a number of times to increase the volume by a good amount.  Press tab to decrease the volume.  You may not hear the change until a second or two after you issue the commands.  Set the volume as you want it.  Leave the equalizer on and close the equalizer window with alt g, the same command you opened it with.
Use control tab to move back to the main window.

If you have never changed other equalizer settings, the audio should sound the same but the volume should be as you want it.

The only way I got rid of this problem was to uninstall and reinstall winamp. Somebody had told me how to get it to play at the higher volume again, but I forgot, and when I asked, nobody knew what I was talking about, so I ended up having to reinstall it. Like you, winamp told me it was at the top volume, but it was only really playing at half its volume. It happened to me suddenly, one day, when I was listening to something. I wasn't even near the computer; I was across the room, sitting on the couch, and suddenly, the volume just went down. Pam.

Hi, I’ve been using WinAmp 5.666 for a while. Until recently, it
worked fine, but lately it’s been playing audio at a significantly
lower volume than the rest of my system. After some cursory research,
it may have something to do with my output plugin. I don’t have the

Are there JAWS scripts for WinAmp?

Or, what other audio players are people using? I like the interface
