Hi Everyone,
I too, Definitely appreciate the sentiment in what was sent. However, I do not believe that we should write anything in Carlos name, as if he had written it.

Carlos was a Very Kind person, so Very Gifted in computer knowledge and know-how, and helped so many of us. This is evidenced by how we are still passing around is so Very Helpful information. All of it is Definitely Carlos' gift to us, and I know that all of us Treasure that information.

We also Treasure our many memories of and with him, which will forever be in our hearts.

I have to say something about the author of the letter. I am not sure who wrote the original letter way back when. However, I do know that this same letter was sent to me after my Mom passed away on December 19th of 2011. I can tell you that it really helped me through Christmas that year.

There is only one other thing that I would like to say. Because we Treasure Carlos So Much, as a person and as a helper, we need to Honor him and let him truly (Rest in Peace).

Take care, Everyone, and let us, as I will, keep remembering Carlos with Joy.

Blessings and All the Very Best,
Pat Seed

Hi,
I appreciated the sentiment and am in awe of anyone who can write structured verse poetry. It's a talent I always wish I had. Still I couldn't help but wonder how his family and loved ones would feel reading something penned in his name. Further he wasn't one to speak of his personal views on things spiritual on lists his own or others which is why it took me aback a bit to read something of this nature ascribed to him.
I mean no disrespect or to detract still it does cause me some concern for the reasons stated above.
Take good care.

Hi All,
Well here it is Christmas once again, and Carlos just sent this so I could share it with you all. I copied and pasted it below.

Hi To All!
I see the countless Christmas Trees around the world below,
with tiny lights, like heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear,
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
but the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
for it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me. I see the pain inside your heart,
but I am not so far away. We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me dear ones. You all know I hold you dear,
and be glad I'm spending Christmas, with Jesus Christ this year.
I send you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory of, of my undying love.
After all "Love" is the gift, more precious than pure gold.
It was always most import in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do,
for I can't count the blessing or love he has for each of you.
So, have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear.
Remember, I'm spending Christmas, with Jesus Christ this year.

Carlos!

Peace Be With You.

I can confirm what Jean said.

Charter.net blocks messages that have more than 500 recipients.  They will make no exceptions.  I ran into this back last summer and set up this gmail account to handle all my groups.io subscriptions.

Re: Microsoft Edge Dev Issues

Hello,
Yes there is a problem with the latest version of Edge Dev. They changed the way they present things to the screen reader and it has caused some issues. They are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. That is what I have understood from the other NVDA lists I am on.

Has anyone else seen this and if so, what could be causing the issues?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Loy,

Okay, I now have a Windows 10 computer and here's how I get to Passwords & Autofil:
1. With Edge open press Alt + X to open the menu.
2. Up arrow to Settings and press enter.
3. Shift + tab 1 time to General, down arrow 2 times to Passwords & autofill, and press enter.  Now tab through the options.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go Rams!

I can't tell you exactly, but as I recall you press, Alt + X, to open the menu, navigate to, Settings, press enter, and there are 4 tabs.  It'll take several tabs to get to the 4 tabs, but you want the, Passwords & Auto fil, tab.  Sorry I can't do any better, but I don't have a Windows 10 computer available to me at the moment.

Re: Sending A Text Message to Ireland From A Pc from the US Question Please.

Flor Lynch

Hi Janet, Mike, and All:

I wish I had better news to impart on this from here.

I’m in Ireland ,and am subscribed to an Irish mobile network. The question got me curious, as to whether I could just send an SMS by email from my computer to a text number in Ireland – my own for starters. So I googled, and discovered an app/site called sendatext.
I tried sending myself an SMS by email from my number in Ireland (using Google Chrome, you can select from a combo box of over 200 countries and several int’l networks.)

Unfortunately, after I verified that I am not a robot, it told me, when I tried to send my SMS: “Sorry, you cannot send free SMS messages to Ireland”. !! Well, I can sorta do it (for ‘free’) from
- which is my mobile provider’s Web site; but it’s pretty clumsy and not the most accessible, plus you need to sign into it.

So it isn’t as straightforward i.e. you can’t just do it off the bat – like it seems you can do for US and Canada numbers within those countries.

There are add-ons which networks in Ireland itself have for sending a number of SMS messages per month, but (in my network’s case) for sending SMS/MMS messages internationally – outside of the European Union – You would pay, for example, a once-off cost of €10 for 100 SMS messages (which applies per month); and there may also be a similar  plan add-on for 150 SMS messages.

Maybe only a little, or none, of the above applies to sending such SMS messages from within networks in the US/Canada to Ireland, etc. But thought I try to outline why your standard US/Canada networks’ SMS by email approach might not be working for this case.

Hi Janet,

I haven't sent a text to anyone overseas, but in order to send a text via email you need to know the recipients cell phone domain.  For example, if I want to send a email by text to someone with Verizon as their carrier the domain will be what is to the right of the, @, sign.  i.e;  @vtext.com

So, you would put the 10 digit phone number then the domain, @vtext.com, and it would look like this:   5554443333@...
No spaces or dashes in the 10 digit phone number.  Below is the domains for more carriers.

How to Send Text Messages Via Email for Free (SMS & MMS)

This may not be news for a lot of people, but I just discovered that you can send text messages via email to most major cellular providers. This tip is
stellar in that it is part stupid frugal trick (save money on texting from your cell phone by emailing for free), part productivity (you can probably type
faster from a normal QWERTY keyboard than a phone), and part tech geek.

Below are step-by-step instructions on how to text via email.

SMS Vs. MMS

SMS, or Short Message Service is also commonly referred to as a “text message”. With a SMS, you can send a message of up to 160 characters to another device.
Longer messages will automatically be split up into multiple texts. Most cell phones support this type of text messaging.

MMS, or Multimedia Messaging Service can be used to send longer messages and/or pictures, video, or audio content. It is most commonly used to send a photo
taken with a camera phone to another phone. Most new cell phones with multimedia capabilities support MMS.

How to Send a Text Message Via Email (List of SMS & MMS Gateways):

To send a text message via email, you must use a SMS or MMS to email gateway. Just substitute a 10-digit cell number for ‘number’ for each carrier below:

Subject: [TechTalk] Sending A Text Message to Ireland From A Pc from the US Question Please.

Hi Everyone,
Can some kind soul please tell me how to send a text message to a mobile phone to Ireland from the US through my Windows 7 pc? I had the instructions someone from this list sent out some time ago, but I lost them.
I already have the country code as that is what I had to use when I would call.
Thank you all for any assistance, as it will be greatly appreciated as usual.
Janet

Amazon Echo Dot setup on phone

David Mehler

Hello,

I am trying to get the alexa app going on my phone. Checking out the
connected devices I have a dot that's offline which is expected, and
the app on the phone which says it is online. It is however not
responding to voice command even though I've granted it microphone
permissions, this is on android Oreo.

It's giving me the impression it doesn't know what I sound like, yet
my echo dot does. Do I need to create a voice profile? If so, how do I
get the phrases it wants me to repeat as talkback isn't showing me
what they are.

Thanks.
Dave.
