UPS is no longer required to obtain a signature unless the shipper requires it and I have never had them leave a package which is supposed to be signed for unless I am here and do sign.

Yes, you can.  However, I haven’t seen XP in so long that I can’t remember how to get to the command prompt.  I seem to remember that it is located under accessories.  Maybe go to the start menu, go to all programs, and I think accessories was near the bottom of the list.  Once you get to the command prompt though, you can type chkdsk /f /r e: or whatever your card’s drive letter is, and chkdsk will try to find and repair bad/corrupt sectors on the card.  It seems to be worth a shot anyhow.

I added a couple of .docx to the text files folder of a card that I have been using for quite some time.  Now when I try to put it in my VRTrek,I get a media 3 error.  So I tried another card and all is fine with that.  So, I decided to put it back in to my computer and the disc name does not come up on the list of drives.  It just says the drive name.  When I press enter on it, I am asked if I want to reformat?  Ok, if it is corrupted is their any way to salvage what is on there?  I have a ton of notes that I really need for classes and things like that.  I have a san disc utility but I don't think that does any salvage functions.  any thoughts?  I have at least 30 GB of books and other things.  Please if you have any ideas, let me know.

I never use NVDA up arrow; I find it much more convenient to use numpad 8.  So I had forgotten that command.  As far as NVDA up arrow is concerned, it is much better to be in object review if you are going to use it.  It is more reliable because by default, NVDA will always move to the object you move to.

NVDA+up arrow in Desktop layout is the command to read the current line - the equivalent of NVDA+L in laptop keyboard layout.
NVDA+up arrow in laptop keyboard layout is the command to move to the previous line with the review cursor.
 
Up arrow on the number pad is numpad 8, which reads the current line in review which, if the review cursor hasn't moved from the current location, should work similar to NVDA+up arrow in desktop layout or NVDA+L in laptop layout.

As well as Howard's method, which will move through the whole cell contents, with NVDA, you can press NVDA+up arrow twice quickly (or if using laptop keyboard layout, NVDA+L twice quickly) which will spell the current line (press just once to read the text rather than spell it) - so you can read the first line within a cell without going into edit mode - names and phone numbers are probably only on one line each.

I've never seen a text alert like that I just find text alerts for all movement for a package. Admittedly I haven't played with account settings in a while. Have you tried signing in via the UPS app on an iDevice perhaps it'll be friendlier. Have you tried different browsers? Sorry I can't be of more help. I do know there's an area under your profile to specify location for where to leave packages as to whether they always comply with that is still up in the air but at least it's notated. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Chromebooks have their own screen reader. It’s called chromevox. To launch
it, hold the control and the alt key, then press the letter z. You can run
chromevox from the initial set-up screen. The set up of the chromebook with
chromevox is accessible.

NVDA+up arrow in Desktop layout is the command to read the current line - the equivalent of NVDA+L in laptop keyboard layout.
NVDA+up arrow in laptop keyboard layout is the command to move to the previous line with the review cursor.

Up arrow on the number pad is numpad 8, which reads the current line in review which, if the review cursor hasn't moved from the current location, should work similar to NVDA+up arrow in desktop layout or NVDA+L in laptop layout.

As well as Howard's method, which will move through the whole cell contents, with NVDA, you can press NVDA+up arrow twice quickly (or if using laptop keyboard layout, NVDA+L twice quickly) which will spell the current line (press just once to read the text rather than spell it) - so you can read the first line within a cell without going into edit mode - names and phone numbers are probably only on one line each.

latest firefox and notifications

Hello, I am trying the latest firefox. I set all my settings however, everytime I open firefox, it tells me I have to change 2 extensions in private windows. Does anyone know why it keeps telling me this? I keep going threw the settings and cant find which 2 extensions I need to change; the notification does not tell me exactly where to go. Your are correct.Pressing 1 is correct. But, you have to do a long
press of the 1. The Stream will say "Enter user guide". To get out of
it, long press the 1 again.

Hi all,

I signed up for UPS my choice but when I log in I don't see anywhere to make changes. There's an area for driver instructions but when I clicked there nothing opened up where I could put any instructions, so I had my sighted mom look and she even found an area where it said that I could receive a text around the time my package is delivered but she said there was no way to enter my phone number there. Nor by the way did she see any way to change the amount of time ahead of time that a text would be sent, all that seemed to be available was one hour but from what she read to me it sounded like that could be changed.

I'm expecting a package to be delivered this Tuesday, and I think I mentioned earlier in the week that the UPS drivers usually will just drop packages inside my gate and I don't know they're there, so I called UPS earlier this week and ask them to add a note to have the driver knock on the door, but they said they couldn't do that and they told me to sign up for the my choice. If anybody can help me with where to go to either give the driver special instructions, or how to set it up so I receive a text shortly before the package is delivered so I know to expect it I'd appreciate it.

I have had many computers of most brands, and have always removed the brand named software, it’s the first thing I do, and have never experienced any issues.

My understanding is that some computer manufacturers use their software for certain functions and that the Windows software may not support the functions or may not be available or may have to be configured.  We'll see what others say.  I don't know enough about the subject to do other than say that I don't think it is a good idea to just delete things without knowing what they do, if the computer is currently using any of them for any function you want, such as your wireless connections, and how you get Windows to take over any functions you might lose. 

 

Just in general, some, perhaps many people, delete things just because they don't want them.  I very strongly believe that things shouldn't be deleted unless you know what they are and that you will never need or want them.
