It's probably because the people that are posting or moderated. And no, everything is discussed live with the developer. And everybody puts their two cents in, and then they help him tweak it if they see any problems.

Good idea, but they probably talk about a lot of thing that never make it into production. I'm only interested in what goes live.

P.S.: Are they having a bad day over there or something: I posted messages over seven hours ago that are just now coming through and getting onto the lists to which they were posted.

groups.io Has Changed Their Login Screen
Steve Matzura
It used to be that I would log in and at the top of the page I would see a collapsed item called "Your groups." Now, I log in and see a page called "Subscriptions," with each group to which I am subscribed located on what is seemingly their new home page. Did I do something to make this happen, or is that just the way things are now?

Navigating Links in Outlook with JAWS
Abbie Taylor
I subscribe to this and other lists on groups.io in daily summary mode. This means I receive one message per day with links to messages posted the previous day. While navigating such a message with JAWS, when I press Enter on a link, I end up on a page other than the one I wanted. This happens no matter whether I’m navigating with the down arrow or Tab key. I don’t have this issue with NVDA. So, is there a trick to navigating links in Outlook with JAWS? I’m not finding any information in the help files on this. So, I’d appreciate any ideas anyone has.

windows10 mail app
heather albright
Hello, I had to delete my personal mail account in order to fix it. I have it back on my pc however, I cant find where I can set the account order settings so, my personal account pops up first before all my other accounts. It is set for last. So when I open my e-mail app this account does not show till I go to that account to make it show up! I looked and could not see an order for preference of accounts. Any ideas? Cheers Heather s

Most people won't know about these problems. I am not aware of a crashing problem. I'm not saying there may not be one, but I don't recall seeing anything about it.
I am aware of DBX files becoming corrupted. Most people who use Outlook Express probably don't know what DBX files are, let alone that they are more likely to become corrupted in the Windows 7 and higher version of the program and particularly, when you compact folders. They probably don't save mail they want outside of the program or as an alternative, back up the DBX files regularly. for most users, fooling around with this program isn't a good idea, in my opinion. You should know something about the program and how to prepare for problems and you should also know that, while some, perhaps many, users have no or little problems, some people spend considerable time trying to solve problems they can't solve.
Why do people on the list use the program? I'm curious to know. It does allow for first letter navigation among folders and if you use a lot of folders, that is an advantage. Now, Thunderbird has an extension that allows first letter navigation. Outlook Express may be faster opening messages compared to Thunderbird, but on a modern fast machine, I don't know if the speed difference matters. Those who have compared may wish to comment. Then there are identities. Some people may consider identities important. for the majority of people who don't use them and probably don't know what they are, this advantage is meaningless. So, why do people use the program?

I currently have 87 different folders in OE and God knows how many messages save. Several thousand for sure. All is well and I for one don't plan on giving this program up any time soon. Might be old, but sure is good. Lets hear it for archaic.

You need to set some limits on your selection. What are you going to use your laptop for? Do you want to have a full keyboard with the numpad? Most new laptops no longer come with a cd/dvd drive, does that matter? You can spen from 300 to 3000 on a new laptop. What is your budget? Give us some clues, than we can help.

Re: MSWord lines per page
Gene
I don't create documents except for my own
use. For the kinds of things I do, I use Notepad. They are generally
things like lists of links I want to keep that I don't want to bookmark such as
spotify links, to use not in a browser, lists of books I might want to read, and
those sorts of things. If I want to create a word processor document, I
have Wordpad, Jarte, and Word 10 starter edition, but I almost never use any of
them.

Hello Gene So, what do you use for document creation? I do not need a very feature full program but it must be able to tell when it goes to page two etc. when typing documents. I do miss Word Perfect very, very much. Regards Fanus

I don't use Word but you likely have double space on. Control 1, 1 on the main keyboard, tells Word to single space. Control 2 tells Word to double space.
