phone to use with cdma
Joe Giovanelli <joegio100@...>
Hello,
I need a recommendation for a phone, not smart, to be used on a CDMA carrier. If it has speech, great, but I can work without it if I have to. Thanks very much for your help. Joe Giovanelli, W2PVY

Re: having a weird issue
Gerald Levy
Okay, gang. Here's what GHacks Technology News has to say about the broken Windows 10 search box issue that users on this and other lists have been reporting: Need another reason that current web search integration is bad in Windows 10?Reports are coming in that search is not working properly on many Windows 10 devices; the issue is different from the recent File Explorer search issue that users experienced and are still experiencing to a degree. Basically, what is happening currently is that the search interface is entirely black and that searches don't work at all on affected systems. The problem, it appears, is not caused by users or administrators, but by Microsoft. Microsoft made the decision to interweave Cortana, the digital assistant, and search when it released the operating system. While Cortana and Search have been untangled, Microsoft decided to integrate and improve web search functionality in recent versions. Search in Windows 10 returns offline and online content by default. Local search works pretty much like it did back in Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, online search displays suggestions for the most part. Microsoft may change search functionality remotely on Windows 10 machines, e.g. to adjust settings or other parameters without having to release a Windows update that does that. That's useful in theory, but not so much if remote issues cause search to stop working at all. One would think that local search would continue to work if Windows 10 could not connect to remote servers or if some other form of remote connection does not work as expected; this is apparently not the case. Affected users may want to use third-party search applications such as Everything or one of these desktop search programs to restore search functionality. Windows Latest suggests that disabling Web Search on affected Windows 10 systems and rebooting the system restores search functionality as well on affected devices. Here is how you do that:
The change worked on one test PC that was affected by the issue. The issue is not the first search issue of Windows 10. Microsoft broke search in 2017 in the operating system and Windows 10 version 1903 had several search bugs as well.

RECOMMENDATIONS for annimated greeting card website, anyone?
Sharon Hooley
Hi,
My nephew donated a kidney to his dad, my brother yesterday. So I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a clean, accessible site where I can get funny animated greeting cards, including a get-well category? I've thought of Blindfold Greeting Cards, but I'd like to be able to share the kinds that are visually appealing. Thanks, for any input, Is it hard to communicate, even with hearing aids? I tried the at bat app. in my opinion it's easier then the web version. from what I can tell, one year audio will be 27.00, so for Canadians it will depend on the conversion how much it will be. Looking forward to it, it helps getting rid of the winter blues. have a nice day.

Re: Drop box.
Gene
That's an interesting question and I'm not sure
what you should do. the Dropbox program monitors the folder in a certain
place on a certain drive. If you open the program and it doesn't see a
folder where it looks, I don't know if it will create one and download all the
files to it, or if it will delete the folders and files you currently have in
the online storage.
We'll see what others say.
I may write more later, depending on what others say.

solid state drive; and a 4 TB drive inside the computer. My drop box landed on the SSD. that is fine. But I tried to put it onto the 4TB drive. So I have an instance of it on the solid state drive, and also on the 4tb drive. The 4tb drive doesn't seem to be working; that is, the drop box program does not seem to be doing anything on the 4tb drive. May i safely get rid of that, and just continue to use the one on the solid state drive? Remember, I'm not a whizz, i'm just an old computer user. Thanks. Penny pengold2@...

Hi George,

I purchased game day audio originally through the computer though, can I still update the info through the at bat app and if so how? I went into the FAQ under game day audio and all I've found so far is where it talks about is if the purchase was through the app. Troy

Re: Drop box.
Steve Matzura
Get it off the solid state drive. If your Dropbox is big, or could potentially become big, or is active, you're wasting space and writes for no reason by keeping it on the SSD. The Dropbox application has an automatic facility to move its storage to wherever you want it to be. Use that function to move your Dropbox folder to your large-capacity drive. It's totally transparent to the user and always works. To do it:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
1. Open the Dropbox application located in the system tray, or if you're on a Mac, from the Dropbox Extras menu. 2. Choose "Access and manage your Dropbox settings" from the menu. 3. Move to the "Sync" tab. 4. Activate the "Move..." button and follow the prompts.

Recently bought my $500 braille me display
Josh Kennedy
Hi,
I recently bought my braille me display for the sale price of $499 from www.atguys.com ... I got it just in time because the price went up to $531 plus $9 shipping and I got mine for $499 plus $9 shipping. So I will write the list and let you know how I like it when it arrives this afternoon in the mail. I got one back in early 2018 two years ago and returned it shortly after I got it because the pins rattled around inside and it had many braille dot issues so I got my money back for that one back in early 2018. I can't wait to play with this new improved one and I have some ideas as to how to maybe get the braille me to work with jaws so I will try that as well. Even though it says the braille me does not work with jaws? I may be able to prove them wrong and make it work so we'll see what happens with that. Josh Sent from my iPod

Thank you for responding. I wasn't sure if this was even possible. I am thinking that I may have someone who is sighted take a picture of the photo in my messages on the computer from my phone like a screen shot and then maybe I could post it then. If not, oh well! Take care. Shelly

Lisa, I have a JBL clip 3, it is a nice small speaker, it only has 5
buttons on it, 2 for volume, a play-paws, 1 for pairing and 1 is power. I don't know how much it is as I got it for a Christmas gift. It sounds really good. Michael
