Hi Josh. Thanks for posting your thoughts about the braille displays that you have used. I have found it to be informative. Have you been able to make your Braille Me work with JAWS yet?

On the braille me, the cursor works by blinking the unused dots in the cell. For example, if the cursor is on the letter b, dots 1-2, then dots 1-2 stay raised up while dots 3-4-5-6 are blinking. Or you can turn off the blinking, clear the display temporarily and show only the cursor, when you are done looking at the cursor, press backspace plus space together to get out of that mode. And yes I find the braille me to be very very user friendly.

Are you using the free or paid version?  I don't know if you can or should get rid of it if you are using the paid version, using real time protection.  If you are using the free version, set it not to run at bootup, then exit the program.  I haven't used the program for quite some time and I haven't worked with settings for even longer but someone can tell you how.  You don't have real time protection with the free program so it doesn't matter if it runs when you aren't doing a scan.

Whenever windows 10 comes up after I either reboot or when I initially

paid version of malware bytes for a long time but this has only started
happening with the later versions.

Thanks.

I agree! When our nfb chapter meets next month, I will bring this up for discussion. Braille will never die! We will not let it. It is the quickest way for us. It is faster than speech if you already know it. You should not have to open an app and aim a camera that may not read it. I was not aware that Roger can braille the manual for his items. But I am very happy with Roger. He puts the serial number in braille on the box. He works harder than HumanWare. But if these agencies claim that they sell products for us, then they should follow through and not do half their job. The product should definitely come with a braille manual and serial number. Thank you.

Yes,  I purchased  a  copy of micro Soft office pro 2016  from amazon.ca  for a  similar price, it was a few months ago.

Totally legal.

I got the m s accessibility help des to assist me with the download and installation.   Sure, it is the 2016 edition and that’s fine with me as I wanted word and outlook.

It’s not a one year subscription; it is for as long as I use it.

Hi all,

Heather, I'm glad you got your rant off your chest, but right this second, it's only a rant. What is the name of this device? Who sells it? When did you buy it? Who gave it to you? If we have this info, we can more easily publish your problem on public media. If you received this item from rehab, let them know you're dissatisfied and why.

This is an ongoing problem which I feel should be taken up by ACB and NFB to get these companies like LS&S and Maxi-Aids to quit sending out items with only printed information. Did you know that Humanware places its manual on its products but does not provide braille hard copy, even for braille devices like The BrailleNote Touch. Roger Behm is the *only* vendor of whom I am aware that automatically includes a braille hard copy start up guide and he can braille the manual for you too.

This kind of deliberate inattentiveness to the needs of consumers is flagrant all over the place! The least these companies could do is include a .brf file in an email. Heaven forbid they should actually include hard copy braille instructions and serial numbers for a "six dot braille labeler" Hello?

Yet some of you are willing to let the sighted teachers and rehab people convince you that you don't need braille any more. Braille is outdated, they say. Yet a consumer can't even read a serial number on a product specifically designed for use by a braille reader. C'mon guys, c'mon, we've got to stop this. It should be against the law to sell a product specifically designed for braille readers which doesn't include a braille manual and all the pertinent information in braille.

So the catch was when I called to ask where the braille guide was, they in there infinite wisdom asked me the blind user for a serial number. So I am not lazy so I had to pull out my app off my phone to see if it could read it. Apparently it was written on a shiny area on the back and I could not get my app to capture the serial number or the lighting was off who knows. By far, the easiest way is to just find the file she wants to send, press applications key, or shift f10, arrow to send to, open that and arrow to mail recipient. If outlook is the default client a new message dialog will open and the file will be attached. All she has to do is fill out the to field, the subject field, type a message and send it off.

Copy and paste works in Outlook in later versions and it probably will there.

Copy the file, as though you were going to paste it in another location.

Open the message.  I don't know if it matters where you are in the message when you issue the paste command.  Be in the message body.  I expect it to work there because it does in Windows Live Mail.  Paste and the attachment will likely be added to the message, if this procedure works that far back.
