I have the free version also, and kept getting this message
all the time too. Very annoying.
I found that after you run a scan, with the free version, you
can go into the system tray, enter on Malware Bites and arrow down to the ‘quit
Malware Bites’ option and enter on it. This will remove it from the system
tray temporarily and the announcement will not come up again until you run
another scan.
You will have to go through these steps after every time you
run a scan manually.
I only run a scan about once a week, so not a big deal to go
into the system tray and do this.
I don’t think it would work with the paid version, as it is
always running with real time protection.

Office 2016 works fine with NVDA at least (and in fairness, I'd assume it should work fine with Jaws also). If you do get tempted to go further into using advanced features of Word, we have a training module on Microsoft Word with NVDA: https://www.nvaccess.org/product/microsoft-word-training-for-nvda-ebook/ It's only $30 Australian, which still should just come in under your $24 cost of Office itself :)
There is a newer version of Office, Office 2019, which like Office 2016, is a standalone, one-off purchase. Otherwise the newest version of Office which is constantly updated, is Office 365, which is a yearly or monthly subscription.
Kind regards
Quentin.

The trouble was that only people using screen reading programs were seeing / hearing this message and sighted people didn't even know it was there. I had a screen share with a MWB higher level person to show them / let them hear what happens and so they could actually hear what's being reported by screen reading programs. Well this was back around version, 3.4, or so. Anyways they did eliminate this screen in Windows 7, but never could eliminate it in Windows 10. I quit running MWB many months ago because everytime they did an update they would screw up all the prior improvements for blind users. I got so tired of all the hassle and having to go through all the chains of command again & again before anyone would take the problems the blind users are having Now with, MWB version, 4..., is out and when I tried it I could only take about 30 minutes of the user interface before I totally removed that major pain in the A** completely! I could have used the Jaws touch cursor and other navigation keystrokes, but I then could by no means tell people the program is accessible for the screen reader users that don't know these keystrokes.

Hello,
I have such a small Need for Microsoft Word, that I don't have it installed on any of my Systems. Instead I use Jarte, and for my needs, it works great. It is Small, Quick, Simple, and works well with either of my Screen Readers. However, there are times when I need to send a file to someone using a Microsoft Format, either MS Word 2013 or newer. For the price of $36 down to $24 for Office Pro 2016, this deal is hard to resist. Guess my question is this, How Accessible is Office 2016? I use the Spell Checker, and need to change Fonts and Font Sizes. Need to do Underlining and some Outlining. I also need to read large Documents of more than 100 pages. I assume that Jaws 2019, and the latest NVDA Screen Readers will read enough in Word 2016 to do those items I listed above. But, I thought I would ask here first, since these days, very little should be Assumed. Oh, and if it matters, I am running everything on a Win 10 Pro System, with an I7 Chip and loads of Memory. Isn't there a Newer version of MS Word? 2018, 19 or 20? But, for $36 to $24, This deal is a temptation. I would Love to hear from users of Office 2016 and hear how well it works with Screen Readers. Thanks for any reply, Grumpy Dave

First, you made a general statement in your
previous message, not applying to this situation, specifically. They may
be breaking the law in this specific instance.
Second, you are making general statements that are
unsupportable because they are general where such generalizations can't
correctly be made. Braille is and will always be the best way to look
something up? What kind of Braille, paper Braille or computer
Braille. No sighted person would say that a print book is anywhere near as
efficient to look something up with as a word processor document or a web page
or an Internet search.
With Braille, just as with print, the point is what
you use to look something up, not whether it is Braille or print. You can
read the results using a Braille display with a computer or listen with
speech. They are both fast and there is little, difference, there may be a
slight difference at times, such as checking the spelling of a word if you are
checking the spelling to learn it for yourself. It may be faster often, to
use a Braille display for this purpose.
But you simply can't maintain that paper Braille
can compare in efficiency even remotely, to using a computer.
Obviously, the serial number should be in
Braille. Braille should be available for those who want it. You
don't know how many people want it and a company can, rightly, make this
optional if they tell people that Braille is available. its obviously
cheaper to have material available in a computer document. I used the
example of an audio file not because it is the desirable format, but to
demonstrate that the law isn't dictatorial or specific. Reasonable is the
important word. and reasonable doesn't dictate how something id done,
other than that it is reasonable.

For us it's always just use audio or go on line but the sighted have print but we are denied the writen word when braille is the best sulution for blind people. Just try to look somthing up on an audio cd or find it on line. Lets not forget that some people don't have unlimited data if they do have internet. There is just not only one sulution that is best for everyone but to them there is. Braille is and will always be the best way to look somthing up just as sighted people use print. Try telling sighted people to just use audio or go on line. Not everyone has on line access. aAny company that sells products for the blind and refuses to provide braille should be ashamed of themselves and should be forced to by law.
