Nokia 3310 Inquiry
Ron Canazzi
Hi Group,
A friend of mine wants a no frills standard old fashion cell phone. She is thinking of purchasing a Nokia model 3310 phone. Is anyone familiar with this phone and if so, can it be used with Spectrum Mobile service? The guy at tech support for Spectrum Mobile says that he couldn't say whether or not the phone could be used unless he cold see the code on the back of the phone. Does anyone know what he means? Thanks in advance for any help. -- They Ask Me If I'm Happy; I say Yes. They ask: "How Happy are You?" I Say: "I'm as happy as a stow away chimpanzee on a banana boat!"

Re: Is it possible to permanently maximize windows
Mike B <mb69mach1@...>
Hi TerriLynn,
To my knowledge it's not possible to have Microsoft
automatically maximize every window you open or to have all open windows
maximized. There's a little program called, STASCOM UTILITY SUITE, that
will automatically maximize each window that comes into focus. Below is an
explanation of the maximizing feature and below that will be all the program
features + the URL
AUTOMATED MAXIMISING OF APPLICATION WINDOWS
list of 5 items • The automated maximizing feature in Stascom will maximise every window that gets focus, without prior customisation required. • The exception to this rule will be those window titles specified by the user to be excluded from being maximised. This latter scenario occasionally is necessary for an application, or specific window, providing more accurate feedback from a screen reader when in a restored state. Recording such an exception can be done via the configuration window, opened with control+Windows+F3. Go to the automatic maximise section and choose the button referring to specifying a window title exception. This step needs to be done when the title of interest has focus. The user will be informed of what the current window title is, and asked for confirmation to store this title as an exception for future reference. Such an exception will be honoured in all future sessions. • It is important to note that a window title added as an exception will only apply to a window title with an exact match. For example, should an exception be added for a document opened in Microsoft Word, the exception will only be applicable to that specific document window. Should the user open a different document in Microsoft Word for which an exception is required, such a title needs to be added to the list of existing exceptions, making use of the procedure described above. • Should the user at any point decide to clear the exceptions list, this can be done via the configuration window, under the automated maximising options. This button will remove all previously specified exception titles. • A list of previously defined window title exceptions will be shown in the summary report, just below the status for automatic maximising. list end Program features
list of 18 items • Battery status on laptops is reported automatically while disconnected from charger, while charging, or both. The notification intervals are configured in the Configuration Manager. As can be expected, this feature and associated options are hidden on desktop computers; • Contact Manager, including yearly customisable audio and text birthday reminders for listed contacts. Alert options are either audio and text, text only, or disabled. If set to audio and text, the audio alert will be repeated after 15 minutes (by default), if a reminder is not acknowledged. The interval can be changed to half hourly, hourly, or disabled in Configuration Manager. This module is mainly for the benefit of users who do not have access to a smartphone, or possibly those who prefer the flexibility and simplicity of the Stascom alternative. The current version does not feature importing contacts from an external file source such as csv; • Reminder Manager with audio and text alerts, with optional repetitions on a future date. Audio alert sound can be changed if desired. The same customisable options as with birthday reminders, are available. See above; • Calculate day of the week for any date between 1 January 1601 and 31 December 9999; • Maximises application windows automatically. Window title exceptions can be specified ; • Prevents mute status on default sound card automatically. Recovery volume is configurable; • Low volume correction on default sound card (disabled by default). Minimum and normalise levels are configurable; • Two schedules and output percentage for automatic volume adjustment can be specified (disabled by default); • Password Generator, creating a unique, very strong 10 character password with each keystroke. Generated password can be copied to clipboard optionally; • Time announcements on the hour, half hour and
quarter hour. Individual hours can be specified, or disabled altogether.
Custom audio chimes are optional
if preferred over the included sound clips; • Accented and other special characters can be easily inserted with hot keys; • Alphabetical list of 51 Windows applications and settings quickly accesseible with a hot key; • master volume level increased / decreased by 5% with hot keys, ascending / descending tones to indicate the volume adjustment; • Word count for selected text in commonly used editors and browsers, with an option to place the result on the Windows clipboard. This feature is not supported in some editors and e-mail clients with non-standard cursors. The results are more accurate than in most similar packages, as it ignores all punctuation and special characters; • Program configuration can be reset to installation defaults; • Report generator, providing a summary of program settings and system information in HTML format for easy navigation; • Choice of three sets of modifier keys to use with Stascom hotkeys. A bypass key suspends Stascom hotkeys for five seconds. Should the user wish to disable the home row 1 to 0 hotkeys altogether, this can be done under the general category in Configuration Manager. If these keys are disabled, all options can still be accessed through the program dashboard, activated with modifier+backslash. • list end Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Oh yes the orbit is still an excellent display! I own two orbit readers and I own one braille me display so far. I like all my displays. But I find if I read on the braille me for a long time and then switch to the orbit for reading, the dots on the orbit feel a bit softer or faded even though in reality they are not. This is because my hands get used to the more sharp or poky dots on the braille me and then the orbit feels different for awhile until I get used to its more rounded dots once again. But in reality both have great signage-quality braille on them!
