Ok, my bro must have thought that the V stood for a 5. I will let him know that is a V for Verizon. It was $100.

The phone is an Alcatel Go 5. I assume that means that it is a 5 G. It has a button keypad like a phone.

Yes. Penny, I'd like to sincerely thank you for speaking up about this. Some of us are practicing Christians and I myself, being a practicing Catholic Christian, am one of them and I find that using the name of Jesus as a curse word is extremely offensive. I always try to respect the beliefs of others, even if I may not personally share them, and I try to avoid language which might be considered offensive. I think it would be helpful to please consider this.

The clock I use that you refer to is small enough to fit in a pajama top pocket and has spoken prompts for all menu functions, so it is very easy to set. The speech and alarm sounds are pretty loud, but what sets this little clock apart is that it has a selectable vibrating alarm, so if you are a deep sleeper and even the explosion of an atomic bomb wouldn't be loud enough to wake you up, the vibrating alarm certainly will. It sells for $19 on Speak to Me:
http://www.speaktomecatalog.com/individual.php?item=CLKVTRV
I also have another talking clock that I purchased on EBay for $7. It is cube shaped and announces the time and temperature at the touch of the top button, which also causes the time to be projected in large numerals on the wall or ceiling which is useful if you still have some remaining vision. But the alarm is not especially loud, and I would not recommend it for a heavy sleeper or someone who is hearing impaired.

If the phone is that much, then the question is,
how are you going to use the phone and does it make sense to buy that one and
save about a hundred dollars over something like the Shell phone, or does it
make sense to get a phone like mine and save from about 100 to 150 dollars
more? That's a lot of money for a feature phone and if all you want to do
is call, text and use the MP3 player, for example, I think it is better to put
up with the accessibility limitations on the phone I have for those limited
uses.
And, for an alarm that doesn't have the bugs I
spoke of yesterday, that's a lot to spend. It might make a lot more sense to buy the small, evidently very
convenient to carry clock Gerald has spoken of. I don't know how loud the
alarm is on that clock but its only something like seven dollars.
Unless the need is urgent, it might make sense to
wait for my presentation, so you will have a good sense of my phone before
making a decision.

You should hear every caraqcter you enter when you
type a key. You can't read a line by left and right arrowing anywhere and
that was true of my first feature phone and the current one. But hearing
every character spoken you input it eliminates the problem of not knowing if you
made an error.

Speech is turned on on the Go Flip3 by opening

There is a model called the Alcatel Flip Go V, and perhaps somebody assumed that the "V" was actually the Roman numeral for 5. But nowhere is this phone referred to as the Alcatel Flip Go 5. I suspect that the "V" actually stands for Verizon, because this phone is apparently designed for Verizon Wireless and also works with US Cellular. It apparently does not work with T Mobile, which uses a different technology than T Mobile. The only Alcatel phone listed for T Mobile is the Flip Go 3. Judging from the product description, it sounds that the Flip Go V is essentially similar in features to the Go Flip 3, although there is no mention of the voice guidance feature.
