sudddenly getting tons of spam
Troy Burnham
Hi all,
I use thunderbird as my e-mail client and gmail for e-mail, and over the last several days I've suddenly started noticing mail going to my spam folder in thunderbird that never went there before. There is a lot of legitimate spam, but also a friend of mine's e-mail is also going into the spam folder and her e-mail is in my address book. Actually I've only seen one e-mail from my friend in my spam folder and the subject line was just medication so that might've been why it ended up there, but I've e-mailed her a few times this week and haven't seen any replies so I'm wondering now if she replied and her messages were going to spam and I didn't realize it because it was mixed in with all of the legitimate spam I've been getting and just selecting and deleting. My question is, is there anything I can change either in thunderbird or in my account on gmail.com to get rid of the legitimate spamand to make e-mail that should be going to my inbox to go there instead of into my spam folder? Thanks. Troy

track of the payments and when the total price is reached, out goes the package. However I believe you're confusing me with another blind business owned by someone else. We do not rip you off if you don't complete your payments. I have yet to determine if I should charge anything for the work involved in keeping track of the payments but it would not be anywhere near all the money the customer has paid on the lay-away plan as that would be very criminal. Perhaps 5 or 10 bucks depending on how much work I had to do. Regards, Laz

Re: Looking for a Full Featured dictionary to load on my System
Dave
Hello Gene,
Sorry, was only posting the request for a Full Featured Dictionary, for another blind individual who uses a Computer, but doesn't belong to any Lists such as this one. Their worry was that if they went out and bought some program off the Web some where, they would find out it would not work with Jaws, or it would not be a Full Featured dictionary. So I posted what they asked. a Million years ago, they used a Webster's dictionary that was on a CD. It worked and ran fine in Win XP. However, as of two weeks ago, they now have Win 10, and is experiencing the many changes between the two Operating Systems, and that few of their Old Software works in Win 10. thus their Search for something Newer to replace the old. by Full Featured, I imagine they are hoping for as many features as possible, and for the Dictionary to not be a smaller Pocket Dictionary with fewer Words, Synonyms, Thesaurus, and Etymology. They are also looking for a replacement program to Play their many MP3 files. I've told them about VLC, but they are willing to pay for some other software if it would work better. Thanks again, Grumpy Dave

it isn't a question of the Feds pressing the
question. You can send books and equipment. You can send Braille
writers and slates, you can send cassette recorders, I would imagine you can
send computers if they are delivered to blind people. You can even insure
free matter for the blind.
I can't comment on delivery problems or how long it
may take to receive packages, I'm saying that those are the problems that
are relevant, such as Laas is discussing. But a lot of items can be sent
free matter. the government doesn't reimburse the post office for every
item. there is a certain amount of money in the budget to offset the
general cost of material sent free matter in a year.

Here's why I have a big problem with your argument. Sure, blindness merchants take advantage of us blind consumers by charging outrageous prices on many products and then tacking on ridiculously high S&H fees. But I never hear anyone complain about paying $1000 for an IPhone, perhaps because it is a mainstream product and is the same price for everyone. And Apple is perceived by many blind consumers as a "wonderful" company that really cares about accessibility, so they can get away with it. One grand for a freaking telephone that doesn't even have any tactile buttons? Give me a break.

What is wanted? What do you mean by full
featured? Word web is fine for spelling and definitions. it isn't
full featured. it doesn't offer etimology. I don't recall if it
offers pronunciation information or syllabification. I didn't originally
answer the question because I don't know what is wanted. Most people use a
dictionary for spelling and definitions. Full featured means much more
than that.

How much? Is this company within what is customary now?
Aside from that, since all sorts of merchants charge restocking fees now, is the charge within what is reasonable for merchants in general? Shipping isn't the question. Restocking fees aren't based on shipping costs. they are a cost imposed for restocking a returned item.
