Wireless Connection Gone In Laptop
I just got a message on my laptop which is running Windows 10 that I can’t connect to the Internet.
It looks like there is a driver failure in the wireless card. Any solution as to how this can be fixed? Thanks.

Free audiobook, “Meet Me Accessibly – A Guide to Zoom Cloud Meetings from a Blindness Perspective” | Mosen Consulting Tutorials
The subject says it all.
Free audiobook, “Meet Me Accessibly – A Guide to Zoom Cloud Meetings from a Blindness Perspective”Meet Me Accessibly, a guide to Zoom Cloud Meetings from a blindness perspective
If you attend meetings online, you’ve probably heard of Zoom Cloud Meetings. They’re now the platform of choice for 50% of the Fortune 50 companies, and are used by many universities worldwide.
Zoom Cloud Meetings are just as popular with small businesses and community groups as well, offering a generous set of features absolutely free, and even more power for a small monthly fee.
If by chance you’ve not heard of Zoom Cloud Meetings, then you’re missing out on one of the most powerful online meeting solutions around. And you know what’s really cool? The accessibility of its apps and website are excellent. Bid those days of frustrating, inaccessible, fiddly collaboration and content sharing tools goodbye.
Meet Me Accessibly is a three-hour audiobook, written and narrated by Jonathan Mosen. It takes you from the basics of attending your first Zoom meeting, all the way to content sharing of your video and audio from a computer or iDevice.
Just some of the things Jonathan shows you in Meet Me Accessibly include:
- Attending your first Zoom meeting
- Working with and configuring the Windows client
- Working with and configuring the iOS client
- Creating compelling and effective online meetings of up to 100 participants for discussions or webinars
- Using Zoom to have a sighted person take control of your computer, even a Mac user can control a Windows PC and vice versa
- Running visually attractive presentations using PowerPoint, or by sharing the output of any application on your computer
- Using the high-quality, low-latency audio capabilities of Zoom for one-on-one conversations
- Holding global Internet and telephone conferences
- Taking advantage of the exceptional audio for use in a podcast, including creating separate audio files for every participant for use in a multitrack editor such as Amadeus Pro or Reaper
- Recording meetings and podcast interviews on your iPhone, thanks to the Zoom cloud recording capability
- Recording top-quality tech demonstrations thanks to the easy-to-use ability for Zoom to capture your computer’s sound
- Sharing the screen and audio from apps on your iDevice
- Enabling stereo audio
- Turning off Zoom’s audio processing for pure, top-quality sound
- Scheduling meetings
- Holding instant meetings
- Using your personal meeting ID
As you can see, there’s so much that Zoom can do, you’ll wonder how you lived without it.
In Meet Me Accessibly, Jonathan uses JAWS for Windows, the world’s most used screen reader when working with Windows. When discussing Zoom’s mobile offerings, he uses an iPhone running VoiceOver, the screen reader built into all iOS products. But the user interface of Zoom adheres closely to accessibility standards, so even if you use a different platform or screen reader, you should still be able to glean much from the demonstrations and descriptions.
Download Meet Me Accessibly free
To help any blind person who may need to telecommute during the COVID-19 outbreak, we have made Meet Me Accessibly free to download. You may distribute it for download anywhere, as long as the files are not modified in any way.
When you download, you get a zip file with the book divided into 19 MP3 files to make it easy to get to the sections you want. An included M3U playlist allows you to easily play the book from beginning to end. We’ve taken care to number the files sequentially, so the book imports beautifully into Voice Dream Reader on an iDevice.

Friday Night Tech Workshop: JAWS, Just Because. Providing Help for JAWS-specific Questions. March 20, 8:00 PM, Eastern Time
David Goldfield <david.goldfield@...>
The Covid-19 pandemic has forced many of us to spend more time at
home. Some of us are now working from home. Some of us may be
staying home to stay safe. Others may be at home in order to
self-isolate or quarantine. Even before all of this began there have
been many opportunities for online training using meeting platforms
such as Zoom. Now that more of us are forced to stay in our homes
the opportunities for remote training and assistance will likely
increase.
A couple of weeks ago I attended my first Ibug conference where participants
are encouraged to ask questions and to provide support for one
another with their iOS devices. I really liked the format of the
conference but I wanted to see a similar opportunity covering
topics from a Windows perspective.
I decided that I’d like to host such a
conference and this will likely be the first in a series of free,
online tech workshops, assuming there is enough interest in such a
project.
The first of these workshops is titled, “JAWS,
Just Because” and is scheduled for Friday, March 20 at 8:00 PM
Eastern time. This conference will allow users of the JAWS screen
reader to both ask questions as well as to provide answers to
those who use the JAWS screen reader. No question is too basic or
too esoteric and it should be stressed that there is no such thing
as a stupid question.
For this conference I’m looking for two types
of participants. First, anyone with a question regarding JAWS is,
of course, welcome. Second, I’m hoping that those who are
knowledgeable in the use of JAWS will also consider participating
to share knowledge. Due to time constraints we won’t have time to
provide lengthy support or to tandem into a user’s machine.
Questions which require this type of intervention would best be
addressed by Vispero’s technical support.
In order to keep the conference running
smoothly I am going to adopt a similar policy which has been
successfully used by iBug. Users who wish to ask a question or to
provide a response should say their name, as in, “This is John.”
At that point please wait to be acknowledged by the host, as in,
“Go ahead, John.”
I have some other ideas for similar workshops
but would like to hear some of yours so that I can determine the
needs that you have as well as the level of interest. With many of
us working from home are there specific applications or programs
that you might want some assistance with? Programs that come to
mind are Slack, Teams, etc. Would there be interest in similar
workshops for NVDA users?
I would also like to invite other assistive
technology trainers to write to me privately if you’re interested
in assisting with any of these workshops. Many of you may have
some ideas which I haven’t thought of and you surely have
expertise with topics which I do not. I am unable to provide any
type of compensation for any assistance you may choose to provide
but the point of these workshops is to provide free assistance to
those who may be spending more time at home doing work or
completing other tasks. This can be a stressful time for many of
us. Many kind and patient people assisted me when I was first
learning about assistive technology and I just want to pay it
forward and give something back to the blindness community,
particularly during this time when the need for some tech help may
be even greater
Here is the relevant information about the
upcoming conference.

Hi Joe,
Phones running Android have a proximity sensor, usually located in the top
left corner of the screen. Any time you want to silence TalkBack, just wave your hand over that area and TB should stop. Putting the phone up to your ear should also activate the proximity sensor, although my Pixel 3A does stop after a few more words. JAWS2020 March Update Build, 2003.13, Download link + What's New
32 & 64 Bit:
What's new: Enhancements in JAWS 2020.2003.13 (March
2020) The following is a list of improvements made between the February 2020
release and the March 2020 update.
You must be logged on as an administrator to install this
software. list of 21 items • In Office 365 and 2019, JAWS and Fusion now
properly announce column and row titles for tables in Word documents when
navigating using JAWS table reading keystrokes (ALT+CTRL+ARROW keys). For
users who prefer to turn off reading of titles while navigating tables for the
current document or for all documents, these options can be configured
through JAWS Quick Settings (INSERT+V) by searching for "table" or "title." •
If the view in Outlook 365 or 2019 is set to show messages by date, JAWS and
Fusion will now indicate using both speech and Braille the date change
when you move from one day to the next in messages lists. For example, as you
navigate a list of messages covering multiple days, when you move to the
first message in the new date group, you will hear announcements such as
"today," "yesterday," "last week," or "two weeks ago." • In Microsoft Teams,
addressed an issue where JAWS was not always reading as expected when navigating
between messages in a conversation thread. • Resolved an issue where
Microsoft Teams would stop responding for several seconds when CTRL+BACKSPACE
was pressed to delete a word in a chat edit field. • Added a new Language
Processing group, located under Text Processing in Settings Center. This group
now contains the options for configuring language detection which allows JAWS
and Fusion to automatically switch to the appropriate synthesizer language when
encountering text in documents and web pages in different languages. • In
response to customer feedback, the keystroke to display the text of the current
control in the JAWS Virtual Viewer so it can be selected and copied has been
changed to INSERT+SHIFT+V. In Microsoft Teams, this command will also virtualize
the currently selected item in a list of messages in a conversation. • The PC
Cursor is now active by default in the Weather, News, and Windows Store
applications. Since this cursor now works much better in these apps, it is no
longer necessary to use the Touch Cursor. • JAWS now indicates when text on a
web page is marked as deleted or inserted. • Addressed issues with JAWS and
Fusion not always reporting the correct information when navigating tables in
Chrome and Edge Chromium. • When using the ARROW keys or Navigation Quick
Keys to move between controls on web pages like check boxes, resolved an issue
where the visual highlight was not properly tracking the location of the
Virtual Cursor. • Addressed an issue where pressing Navigation Quick Key G to
move to graphics on web pages was not working as expected in both the Chrome and
Edge Chromium browsers. • Addressed a customer reported issue with JAWS
not identifying edit fields on certain websites in Chrome. • If Contracted
Braille input is enabled and you select all text in a document using CTRL+A,
resolved an issue where using the Braille command LEFT SHIFT+D (DOTS 1-4-5)
was not deleting the selected text as expected. • Removed extra blank lines
that were appearing in the JAWS Virtual Viewer when using WINDOWS Key+SEMICOLON
to display comments in Word documents. • Resolved a customer reported issue
where attempting to use voice aliases to indicate attributes such as bolded text
were not working when using Vocalizer Expressive. • Resolved an issue
where the emoji for a red heart was being incorrectly spoken as a black
heart. • When using the Wikipedia Research It lookup source, only the link to
the article is now displayed. Due to changes with the Wikipedia website, JAWS
is no longer able to retrieve the synopsis. • You can now press
INSERT+SHIFT+B in either desktop or laptop keyboard layout to obtain battery
status and charging information as well as network connection status. You can
also still use CAPS LOCK+SHIFT+B in the laptop keyboard layout to read this
info. • Added a new dictionary entry for "endnote" that is specific to the
Eloquence synthesizer to improve this announcement for Fusion users. Other
synthesizers like SAPI5 and Vocalizer Expressive already speak this
correctly. • Resolved a long-standing issue where configuring individual
punctuation settings for a voice profile using the Voice Adjustment dialog box
was not working properly. For instance, if you set the punctuation level to
None for the PC Cursor voice, but leave it set to Most for the JAWS Cursor,
Keyboard, and Tutor and Message voices, JAWS should now use the correct
punctuation setting depending on the active voice. • Updated the JAWS Hot Key
Help (INSERT+H) for Skype to remove references to the Back button that existed
in prior Skype versions and is now no longer available. list
end
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Phones running Android have a proximity sensor, usually located in the top left corner of the screen. Any time you want to silence TalkBack, just wave your hand over that area and TB should stop. Putting the phone up to your ear should also activate the proximity sensor, although my Pixel 3A does stop after a few more words.

Good morning, Alusegun,
My phone is a ZTE Blade Force.
I did not know there is a proximity senser.
I do not know version it is. I'll check it when I can. I can tell you that the instruction manual is dated 2017.

Mr. Giovanelli, your question might be better addressed on an Android list. Please permit me to ask a question, may be two since I'm Oliver Twist!!
What make/model is your phone?
Do you have the Proximity Sensor turned on?
Sorry, I have a third question: What version of Android is your toy running?
Ok, I'll run a mile first, and then come back for the answers!! Hopefully, I might be able to help you sort out a few things. Have lots of fun with your new toy and welcome to Androidville if you are new to the land!!
Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado
