Re: help please? windows log-on speech not loading properly

Gene

That’s why I have a low regard for technical support.  They love to give answers bhy formula, whether the answers match your problem or not, and whether the answers make logical sense or not.  I don’t know how long you have to wait, but with a modern computer, you would have to be loading an enormous amount of programs to have a long delay, as you appear to be describing.  Also, if this is a new problem, why suddenly, would loding of whatever you have been loding be a problem.  It wouldn’t, unless you have dramatically increased what is loaded.

And their answer is completely beside the point.  They should know that the programs they are discussing don’t load on the login screen.  They load after you log in.  So they told you to do something that is a complete waste of time.

I don’t know what the problem is and I don’t know if you will ever know.  Keep these alternatives in mind to almost eliminate the problem by working around it.

I don’t know what Windows 10 calls these things, but instead of shutting down regularly, use hibernate or sleep.  You should do a reboot of your computer off and on because if you don’t, performance problems will develop.  I can’t tell you how often.  You can experiment and see.  You may be able to go for many days before performance problems develop.  You may be able to go for five days or a week.  You may have to reboot sooner.  Rebooting a computer or completely shutting it off daily is completely unnecessary and accomplishes nothing.

Hi

When I start my pc up, when I turn it on, the log-on speech is very slow to load, I have to keep pressing tab before I can get it to speak, it should put focus straight on the password box, I get the windows start up sound, it says windows starting, then the speech itself takes for ever to load. I asked microsoft disability support, they said it was because I have too many programs loading on start up, but I have disabled loads of programs under msconfig and task manager, any ideas please? It is a windows 10 pro laptop.

Unfortunately, talking forehead thermometers are in short supply right now, and they seem to be out of stock on Amazon as well as ILA, Maxi-Aids and Speak to Me, although Maxi-Aids claims that they will be back in stock on March 27.

Hi Heather

What do you mean by a full-sized keyboard? Does it need the number pad? If not, the you could say that the Surface keyboard is full-sized, as the keys are a decent size to type on. They are quite comfortable too.

Hi All,

A little humor I thought y'all might get a kick out of:

*How To Unsubscribe *

*Author Unknown*

Ever tried to unsubscribe from a company's mailing list and felt like you
had been through a serious war when it was finally completed? I know I
have! Some of these people should just be honest and post more realistic
directions such as these:

To unsubscribe from this service you must first purchase a Craft-O-Matic
Adjustable Subscription Cancellation Unit. The unit can be obtained from
most hardware stores and dental clinics. Be sure to obtain the proper
permits to operate the unit from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the
Food and Drug Administration in Washington D.C. USA.

Be sure to carefully unpack the kit and place each component in its
accompanying mesh safety bag. Mount the Pershing DF4 mesinator on top of
the perforated Gerring Mach 77 refibulator and attach them using the
eight-millimeter torque fork. Be sure that the refibulator is mounted at a
66 degree angle and properly dispersed so that it is flush with the curved
section of the Pyrex thistle tube. Place the four sections of the
triangular separation gear into the posture cylinder and lock them into
place using the band-aid adhesive strip. Insert the wiggling pin into the
wobbling hole, making sure that it's seated correctly. Place the D cell
battery and the eleven 9 volt batteries in the power chamber.

The device should be calibrated before operation using the optional digital
corkscrew accessory pack prior to operation. Insert the digital corkscrew
through the electronic combustion service chamber using caution not to
touch the reinforced tungsten igniter control module and quickly turn the
inverter drive to 28.6 degrees. Turn the Craft-O-Matic Adjustable
Subscription Cancellation Unit upside down and hit the bottom plate with a
48-ounce ball-peen hammer while shaking the unit vigorously. Force open the
door to the incineration valve compartment and set the pressure gauge to
719 psi. Close the door and seal it shut with duct tape. The unit should
now be properly calibrated and ready to use.

Before activating the Craft-O-Matic Adjustable Subscription Cancellation
Unit, you must first elevate it to a height of 229 feet above sea level to
ensure that the unit receives the proper oxygen level and barometric
pressure. Point the aerial to 17 degrees north by Northeast to within the
parameters of the Telstar GS-2 weather satellite and apply pressure to the
wing shaft on the southernmost section of the modular accelerator. Using
the special ratchet adapter supplied with the unit, rotate the heater core
to the "on" position.

The "on" position has been obtained when the green light begins to flash,
signifying that the red light is about to go off. Once the red light is
off, flip the toggle switch labeled "ON/OFF" to the "ON" position and count
to 47 before logging on to the system.

Login using your username and password and wait for the prompt. Once
prompted you must check the box with the appropriate action you wish to
take and then press the pressure release button and turn off the compressor
while turning the hand crank at 231 meters per minute. Next, press control,
alt, delete, caps lock, shift, number lock, escape and tab simultaneously.
Press enter.

You will have one second to complete the procedure. If you fail to respond
in the time limit allowed, simply purchase a new Craft-O-Matic Adjustable
Subscription Cancellation Unit and start from the beginning.

Please remember that this is the only way we will accept for you to
unsubscribe from this service. We have made every attempt to simplify the
procedure for your convenience. Failure to comply with the unsubscribe
policy will result in immediate termination of your subscription so please
follow the above directions closely.

To anyone considering the purchase of a smart phone or IPhone at this time.  Before you purchase a phone online, be aware that you may experience delays in shipping.  Also be aware that if you have trouble setting up the phone, many cell phone stores have closed indefinitely, including all Apple stores in the US,  and you may have trouble finding help.  And for those of you who still have land line phones, do not under any circumstances give them up. Many people who ditched their land line phones in favor of cell phones are now regretting their decision, because if their cell phone dies, they may have no way of getting it repaired, and will be left without a means of summoning emergency assistance during this national health crisis. Let's all try to keep safe and healthy.

Possibly Entering the "smart phone" world

Hello all you cell phone experts out there.

I'm thinking of maybe getting a "smart phone" (my first).  I'm seeing an ad for US Cell on television, inwhich they offer a free phone if you change over.  The phone seems to be a Samsung S20 5G phone.  Wonder if anyone has this one and if it's a desirable phone and useable by a blind person?  Appreciate any thought on this one or on the US Cell service.  I was a US Cell customer for about 17 years up until 10 years ago.  But I had an assortment of flip phones that were popular at the time.

Thank you.
