a computer bootup question

Troy Burnham

Hi all,

I've been having to reset my internet connection quite a bit lately and quite often when I shut my laptop down to do this when I start it again my mom says that there's just a dot showing on the screen. I hold the power button down until the machine shuts down and then turn it back on and then there's a wheel spinning on the screen, and I know that means that something is updating and eventually windows does come up, but what does that dot mean? If I let the computer run when the dot is showing instead of powering it down will it eventually come up?

Thanks. I'm even starting to wonder if I need some work done on the machine.

Troy

Re: Question about jokes

Mike B.

Hi Shelly,

The Verizon domains of, @vzwpix.com, and @vtext.com, are both valid Verizon domains.  The, @vzwpix.com domain is Verizon's MMS domain which means this domain is used for sending larger text messages, text messages that might contain pictures or text messages that have much more than the 160 characters.

The Verizon domain, @vtext.com, is Verizon's SMS domain for the standard text messages of 160 characters or less.

Spectrum uses the Verizon domains because Spectrum operates its cell business using Verizon towers.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Thank you so much for letting me know about the way of using text
messages as your email. I used to do that a few years ago but the
Verizon domain was your number at vzwpix.com. I'm glad that you told me
because I would have used that one. Now, I will use the vtext.com. I
will be sure and let you know how it goes.

You can do it on either. For Apple, it's in the app store and I think for android, it's in the google store. If you are an Apple user, you would open app store and go to search and type in house party and it should come up and then you would hit get and it should download. If you get it loaded, you can definitely contact me.

House party is an app on your smart phone. It's free and you can talk with 8 people or more at a time. It's really cool and you can even play games with your family and friends. My family has been using this since we are unable to get together during this time of crisis.

Hi Shelley, I just downloaded house party end it looks like you have to add friends in order to invite them to a conversation from what I have gathered and I’m guessing next to the friend button, there will be an invite button to invite them to a conference. If you would like to try this, my link to add me is below.

Hi Shelley, I just downloaded house party end it looks like you have to add friends in order to invite them to a conversation from what I have gathered and I’m guessing next to the friend button, there will be an invite button to invite them to a conference. If you would like to try this, my link to add me is below.

The developers of house party is who you would talk with. If somebody wants it, I will post the information at some point.

I don't remember having that problem or if I did, I must have bypassed it. I will be honest and tell you that this application is not for blind people. I can call one person using it but when I try to invite people to the room, it's impossible. I talked with someone who is sighted and she said it's very difficult. She said when you open house part, there is a plus sign in the top right hand corner but Siri didn't read that to me. If you can find that, click on it and then you will see a few different options and you would click my friends and then after that, you will go through the list and select who you want to invite. I don't know who we could talk with to see if they would make this more accessible. It's a big disappointment in my opinion.

Re: Guidance for starting a blog

Rayn Darren

Apologies for not responding to the OP, I don’t seem to have the message though.

Anywho, to the Original poster, I’ll be happy to help if you, or anyone, have WordPress, or blog questions, I design these for clients all the time and they are both fully accessible and to quote a sighted friend “Oh oh! So pretty!”

HTH,

Sarah

I started my blog on Wordpress years ago. At the time, I needed sighted assistance, but now, I understand the set-up process is more accessible. So, you might try going to wordpress.com and do some exploring.

If that doesn't work, you could go to http://www.mysticaccess.com. If they don't already have a free tutorial on setting up a Wordpress blog, they might be able to customize one for you or work with you one on one. Their training is worth the money. Good luck.

Winamp taking forever to open in Windows 10

Steven Johnson <saxmonger@...>

When I hit enter on an mp3 file, Winamp, which is set as my default mp3 player, takes 5 minutes or more to open.  I don’t have this trouble with any other application.  Anyone else ever had this difficulty?  I hate to reinstall it, but I may have to try that.  Thanks for your thoughts.
