Keith,

Those 3 dot symbols are usually labeled so that screen readers can tell you what they are.  For example, one of them having to do with individual posts is labeled story options.

What did your instructions say to do after clicking on the 3 dots?  Knowing that could help us figure out which item on the page to look for.

Is this  possible on a windows 10 compuger running jaws?

Seems like every application and/or program out there (at least the ones made by microsoft) have hotkey buttons and keystrokes you can use but Facebook apparrently has not caught on.

Ponse media downloader even has hotkeys a blind person can use, though I honestly don't use them, instead I simply use the tab key to navigate around.

But I digress,

I added an additional email address to my facebook account, but the original email I entered to make the account is still listed as the primary log in email.

these 3 dot thingie is supposed to open a menu to make the needed changes, but like I said, I have never come across 3 dots (due to being blind) to get this done.

Any help?

Re: Exporting Contacts from Win-10 Mail to Outlook

I don't believe you can do this from the Peoples app.

Exporting Contacts From the Windows 10 People App

You can't export your contacts located in the

People app of a Windows 10 computer

to a CSV file. However, you can do this from your online Microsoft account and the online People app. From there you choose Manage | Export Contacts to

export the contacts to a CSV file. Go to the outlook email account and use the Import command to import your contacts to the email account.

Re: Exporting Contacts from Win-10 Mail to Outlook

Smiling?

Here are steps for importing contacts for most versions of Outlook and I’ve never used the Mail app to assist with exporting.

1. From within the inbox, Alt+F for File menu.

2. O for Open and right arrow, or enter.

3. Now arrow to the list of choices and choose Import hitting enter.

4. Select the Import from another program or file option.

5. Arrow down and choose the Comma Separated Values (DOS) option.

6. Now it's going to give you the option to find the .CSV file it is that you are  planning on importing from.

7. You are going to need to tell it in which directory to save your contacts (which will most likely be Contacts).

8. Tab to finish and it should just automatically import your contacts.

You might be able to switch it by holding the shift key and pressing the fn key. This works on more modern mhp lap tops.

Others may answer the question with a much more elegant technical solution.  for now, what you may want to try, I never have, is booting the machine, then when it is fully booted, taping down the FN key and untaping it when you are going to shut down the computer or when you need to do an improper shutdown or hibernate or sleep.  I don't know what would happen if you left it taped when you were going to reboot or boot the computer.  Having the key held down should allow the function keys to work normally.

As I said, I haven't tried this work around.  My laptop doesn't have the FN key on when it isn't pressed so I can't comment on how well this work around works.

Not sure about the rest of the people on the east coast, but I use my barbecue all year long. Actually, the weather this weekend isn’t too bad. Friday was awesome, yesterday was shitty and rainy, but today is nice again. We’re planning to pick up a feed a lobster, can’t wait.

To me,

An adaptive technology trainer  is a fairly broad brush stroke.

It could cover such things as;

Operating systems,

Screen readers,

Word processing,

Spreadsheets,

Data bases,

Power point presentations,

Scanning and  o c r applications,

I don’t think there is one-stop-shopping for all these catagories and all the ones I did not mention.

But, Access technology is a good place to start.

Well, judge, it’s just not fair,  you people on the east coast of Canada, including those of my sibling who live there  are having such poor weather on this long weekend.

Things will improve.

Hell, here on the northern prairie,  people use their barbeques at 30 below.

I’ve been looking now for more information regarding Spotify, but am still not sure.  If I pay for Spotify’s premium, do I only have to pay this once to have it working on both my computer and my iPhone?

I also have a Kindle Fire tablet on which I would also like to have Spotify.  I’m guessing I would have to pay separately to have Spotify on these different devices.  Is that correct?

more winamp help needed

Troy Burnham

Hi all,

I couldn't get winamp equalized the way I wanted it so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I had winamp version 5.666 installed previously and I got what I installed this evening from ninite and it looks like it's version 5.8.

It has been several years since I've done a clean install of winamp, and I went all through the preferences after getting it installed and the only thing I wasn't sure about was the global hot keys, do I need to check the box that says something like "enable default multimedia key support"? I checked the box about global hot keys for winamp just below the multimedia box but I wasn't sure about the multimedia box. I checked both of them but of course I can go back and uncheck the one I'm not sure of if I need to.

Btw I tested it and at least things appear to be back to normal, I can use the up and down arrows for volume and the right and left arrows for going forward and backward in the file, I wasn't able to check going between files because it was just a single file but since the other things now work I'm confident that moving between files will as well.

If you tried the command and you heard panning set to 0, then it is very likely one of the speakers isn't working.  the others to the left and right of k change the balance in logical ways.  Control alt j sets it to minus 50 percent.  Control alt h sents it to minus 100 and all sound comes from the left channel that is being played in Winamp.
The keys to the right of k set the balance in the other way, Control l sets it to 50 percent, and control alt semicolon sets the balance to 100 percent, and all sound played in Winamp will come from the right channel.  You can, in this way, ttest if one of the speakers is working.

You can also check by changing the balance setting of your sound card as well.  But if you are using a properly recorded stereo file, the Winamp test should be very reliable as well, though perhaps not quite as reliable.

I'm answering as I get to the e-mails, is it alt-shift plus the letter or alt-control? I am using jaws by the way. Oh and, when I hit alt-shift-k earlier I didn't hear anything, maybe that should tell me that it's alt-control and not alt-shift?

I just realized too, both speakers are wworking because I have a new baseball game I've been playing on the computer and when it starts the announcer says "welcome to the ballpark" and it starts in the right speaker and moves to the left.

Okay thanks. What winamp window do I need to be in for the volume with up and down arrows to work as well as b and z to go forward and backward through files? All of this used to work for me until fairly recently, and I don't remember if I was playing around with something or what but now it isn't working that way anymore.

If you are in the Winamp equalizer window, pressing the right and left arrow keys changes the balance, or what Winamp calls "panning."  The command I gave allows you to set it back to normal, even if you aren't in that window.  I just tried it in the main window.  When you are in the equalizer window, nothing is spoken if you use the left and right arrow keys so you need to use this command to know when the balance is at its default.

Hi all,

I appear to have messed up my winamp equalizer so that most if not all
sound is in one speaker. How do I adjust this?

Thanks.

Ah yes, control-shift-letter are the key combos for Window Eyes.
I had forgotten, or didn’t notice, that he was using JAWS. Control-alt-letter are indeed the key combos for panning in Winamp with JAWS.
Sorry for any confusion.

I don't know what screen-reader you are using but that isn't the command in JAWS.

If you are using NVDA and you have the Winamp add-on, I don't know if such a command is available, nor do I know about Window-eyes.  As I recall, Troy is using JAWS but it would be good to have that verified.

Did you try the alt-shift-k key combo as I had suggested? That’s the one I use here if I need to make sure it’s centered.

Btw I tried the alt-ctrl-k command and nothing happened. It could be that one of my speakers just doesn't work anymore because the set is quite old. I honestly can't tell if both speakers are on when I'm just using the laptop, it's only obvious when I'm listening to something with winamp.

Hmmm, control-alt-letter doesn’t do anything here. I have to use Control-shift-letter for the panning key combos.
