Hi all,

My mom asked me yesterday what is meant by streaming, and I kind of know what it is but I was wondering if someone could explain it in words that a nontech person would understand? All I could think to tell her is to give her an example that if somebody sends her a video like on facebook when she watches that video that's a type of streaming, and I also told her that there are services that stream television channels, the example I used was Apple Tv. She knows that we wouldn't be able to stream channels on the regular televisions we have now. Can somebody tell me an easier way to explain it though, and even give me examples of sources for streaming television channels besides Apple tv? I'd like to know this info myself.

Thanks.

I suggest signing up for USPS Informed Delivery, a free servvice that will send you an email alert each morning you have mail or packages scheduled for delivery that day:

I tried to track a package last night and got no results, but this morning I got results. May be tracking was down for a period of time.

Hello Fanus:

Here's a PC Mag article on Smart Home Automation that I think explains
things better than I can:

https://www.pcmag.com/news/what-is-a-smart-home-hub-and-do-you-need-one

As for a Smart Tv, it needs internet access via your WI-FI setup to work.
Regardless of the OS in play, there's an app that must be installed on your
preferred smart toy in order to set it up and control its operations.

I have a throw away FB account I use for experiments like this.  The information I read seemed to indicate that when a second email address is added, the primary designator for the first email addre3ss can be unchecked.  Give that a shot and get back to me.  When I get home from work this evening, I'll take a look at it with my experimental page and see what I can find out.

Okay, I think I have gotten pretty far in changing my facebook log in address, but I am stuck, yet again, in the process.

Here is what I have done so far and what I am hearing from jaws on the screens as they progress through the process.

Settings & Privacy link

settings/account/?settings_tracking=mbasic_footer_link%3Asettings_2_0&refid=31 link

email is listed and there is a link below it taht says edit.

I clicked on edit and the new window has my original email and next to it it says primary

below that line it says privacy and it says friends and below that it says edit (which I am assuming I can change to allow people who are not active friends to look me up using that email address in the search bar on facebook.

below that is the second email address which I want to make as my log in address and next to that is says confirmed, as you explained via the emails I got after I had added the email address to my facebook account.

the only option under that is remove for the secondary email which I want to make my log in email address.

not sure what else I am supposed to do. like I said, the help file said to do something with the 3 dots but there is no option to make the new email address my primary log in address for my facebook account.

Keith,

The item you want is account settings.  To the sighted it appears as either 3 dots or 3 verticle lines.  Click to expand the menu.

Arrow down to settings and press enter to open it.

move by heading to the general settings heading.

Expand the contacts menu.

Down arrow until you come to emails.

Your current email is shown.

Keep arrowing down to the add email button.

Add the email you want to use as your new user ID.

You will receive two emails.  One will go to your current primary account telling you that a new email was added.

The other goes to the new email address asking you to confirm it.

Press the confirm button.

Reopen Facebook and navigate back to the emails dialog.

You will see both the old and new emails listed.  There will be a checkbox labeled primary or something similar.  Check it for the new email and you should be all set.

Hth,

George

I did a help search from inside facebook and it said something about clicking on a 3 dot symbol and then selecting from a drop down menu that opens.

Is this  possible on a windows 10 compuger running jaws?

Seems like every application and/or program out there (at least the ones made by microsoft) have hotkey buttons and keystrokes you can use but Facebook apparrently has not caught on.

Ponse media downloader even has hotkeys a blind person can use, though I honestly don't use them, instead I simply use the tab key to navigate around.

But I digress,

I added an additional email address to my facebook account, but the original email I entered to make the account is still listed as the primary log in email.

these 3 dot thingie is supposed to open a menu to make the needed changes, but like I said, I have never come across 3 dots (due to being blind) to get this done.

Any help?

Thanks

Here is a link to download the portable version of Virtual Recorder I discussed in my last message.
Unzip it, open the volder and run virtual recorder.exe.  Just typing v once will take you to the exe file.

if something doesn't work properly, let me know.  I'll check if that is the latest version.  I have more than one and I may have to upload another if this has some sort of problem, perhaps regarding using the both setting in the source combo box.  The latest version may solve the problem.

Have you ever wondered why there are so many cursors in
JAWS? Are you curious about where and when to use them? Join us on Thursday,
May 21 at noon Eastern for our live webinar, “So Many Cursors, So Little Time,
Understanding Cursors in JAWS.”

There are many ways to read and navigate in applications with JAWS. The information read back to you can depend on which cursor you use.
During this training, we will introduce you to the various cursors in JAWS and define their functions.

list of 1 items
• JAWS began as a dual cursor design consisting of
the PC and JAWS cursors, which are both still used today. The PC cursor follows
application focus while the JAWS cursor is used to review the screen.
list end

Additional cursors have since been added to provide access to various types of information. The Virtual PC cursor, for example, is used in applications such as web browsers, email
clients, and PDF documents. This cursor functions much like the PC cursor does in documents and other areas where an insertion point is present.

Most of the time, JAWS detects the cursor that works best in the current application. However, you may encounter apps that are less accessible and require you to manually choose a different cursor for navigating.
Understanding how and when to use the various cursors can be helpful in these situations.

Webinar topics include:

list of 6 items
• An overview of the cursors available in JAWS and Fusion
• Accessing documents, menus, and dialog boxes with the PC cursor
• Navigating HTML documents with the Virtual PC cursor
• Accessing information on the screen with the JAWS and Invisible cursors
• How the Scan cursor works in modern apps such as the Calculator and those found in the Microsoft Store
• Register
for this webinar to gain a greater understanding of the various cursors in JAWS. Can’t make it to the training? All our webinars are available to stream

Melissa, please use your WI-FI!! It's convenient, much easier to configure,
and, using it shouldn't bother your son. I have more than ten toys
connected via WI-FI here in my den and all users are having fun without
stepping on each other's toes. I have a lot of international students
living with me, I'm their mentor, and they play hundreds of games daily
unperturbed.

No need to run ethernet cables for this purpose unless you like cables all
over the place; yikes, I hate cables of any kind, I love convenience and
WI-FI does exactly that!!
