Hi Veronica,

I am able to use Jaws with the SiriusXM web site to stream channels. Please email me directly at

naboge@...

and I’ll try to help you out. Their site used to be pretty tough for Jaws but has improved greatly over the past few years.

Talk soon,

Norma

I would appreciate information from any of you that have an account with Sirius XM and listen online.  My e-mail account is on a windows 7 machine, but I am trying to listen to XM radio on a windows 10 computer because of great sounding speakers, so therefore I cannot click on any of the links that I receive from their e-mails.  The website does not seem very accessible at all.  I can log in with my user name and password, but after that I can make no sense from the website.  I would like to know how you go about reading the website with Jaws.  Thank you for any information and/or tips.

You may have to get external speakers.  I can't say how the internal speakers on various laptops would work with your hearing loss.  It might be helpful if we know the kind of loss, high frequency, mid-range, low or a combination.

I can't really advise you and I'm not trying to advise you in any detail except to say that external speakers may be a much better idea both in that they may meet your needs much better and you won't be limiting yourself to this or that computer based on the internal speakers.  You may be able to get a computer you like better and better sound if you don't try to combine them.

Hey there, Gene, I’m looking for a laptop with decent sounding speakers as I have hearing loss and my wife does as well.  Normally, I use a headset but would sure love to find a good sounding speaker so I don’t have to wear a headset all the time as I have to use one for work as I’m teleworking from home and need to take phone calls via cisco jabber.  I’m using a dell precision work station laptop for work but even those speakers sound terrible, grin!  That machine is on windows ten but I can’t use Bluetooth since it’s a department of defense computer and they definitely aren’t into using modern Bluetooth technology, grin!  I can stream to my hearing aids via Bluetooth and had to get a doctor’s statement just to use that at work.  I was just curious as to what laptop or windows ten computer that Veronica had that had good sound speakers as we’re shopping for windows ten laptops.  BZ!

I wouldn't expect good sounding, much less great sounding speakers from any laptop.  Do you want speakers to carry around with the laptop?  How large?  The question can't be properly answered without more information.

Hi David,

I've gotten them as cheap as $80 and they're usually around $120 or so.  But, I just checked Amazon and they have a Seagate for $112 and a WD for $100.  I take it these are sale prices because they show that the Seagate is usually $130 and WD is usually $140.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Most notetakers come with either braille or qwerty keyboards. What type of keyboard are you looking for? Do you want something basic like the Braille and Speak, or would you rather have something like the BrailleNote products that have email, Internet, and other capabilities. I think that once you figure out what you want in a notetaker, your search will be easier.

Are you asking about thumb drives or hard drives?  While I would think differences you might look for of would be similar, I suspect brands are often different.

I have had good long term experience with the Kingston brand.

Opinions will vary

Go to youtube and type in something about dodgers baseball. I'm an astros fan so I've been getting my baseball fix from youtube for quite a while, even before the season was due to start, and there's a lot of games including the dodgers, all the way from back in the 1940's to the present.

Re: Best Brand of USB drives?

Hi Loy,

Are you talking about flashdrives or larger USB powered drives for storing large amounts of content?  For larger USB powered drives we've had excellent luck with both the Seagate & Western Digital 4TB USB drives.  For flashdrives we've also had no problems with Kingston, Corsair PNY and several I don't recall the brand names of.

If you get USB anything try to get USB 3.0 speed, this speed will also be reverse compatible so it'll work with USB 2.0 ports.  But, check the documentation to make sure it's reverse compatible.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Hi Loy,

I also like and use the Kingston ones!! They’re easy to use and anyone that I’ve ever had comes with either a cap or cover so you know that the stick is protected. Hope you can find a brand that works for you!!

question about upgrading the Victor reader's memory

Troy Burnham

Hi all,

I'm getting my Victor reader 2nd edition back tomorrow after sending it to Ultimate Tech Mods a couple of weeks ago to have the memory upgraded. If any of you have ever had this done, when you got it back did you have to reenter your bard info, and did you have to put the special key back that the nls sends? Btw if it helps answer the question I kept the sd card here when I sent the machine for the upgrade.

I also was subscribed to a few podcasts and I'm guessing I'll have to resubscribe to them, unfortunately I didn't think to export them, but I only have 6 or 7 so that won't be a big deal.

Thanks.

Troy
