Re: Microsoft Teams accessibility question, please
David Goldfield <david.goldfield@...>
Hello. Teams is definitely accessible but it has its share of accessibility quirks. Sometimes, it appears to randomly become unresponsive to screen readers. The solution to this problem is to either restart Teams or to change the size of the window, such as restoring or maximizing with Windows-down arrow or Windows-up arrow, respectively. I believe that Microsoft is aware of these issues and, for me, this never happens anymore.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
At times navigating with tab and shift-tab produces inconsistent results. When moving backward with shift-tab you will sometimes find that many items in the tab order are skipped and they are found when using tab to move forward. One thing that I really like about Teams is that navigating chats and messages in a public channel can be done either with up/down arrow keys or by enabling the virtual cursor, where dates and messages are nicely categorized by headings. I run a discussion group for users of Teams who need accessibility and you're more than welcome to subscribe. To do so, send a message to teams-access+subscribe@groups.io I would respectfully ask that people not write to me privately with support questions regarding Teams as I don't have enough time to provide individual support. Instead, please post them on a relevant list, either this one if doing so is permitted or the Teams-access list. This way others can answer the question and you'll also receive help much faster. Hi Tim
This is what I sent to another list. I don't know if anyone else on here has had similar problems but I am finding it increasingly difficult to contact support representatives at some larger companies. For example a few months ago I purchased the latest nero, trying to get a refund was a nightmare. On the 2 checkout website it tells you how to apply for your refund but the actual portal is not accessible, way back you used to be able to log-in and apply for a support ticket but not now. I had a similar experience this week after I purchased avast secure line vpn, I could log-in and get to my account and subscription portal but the rest had to be done by mum, it doesn't matter which browser I used firefox or chrome, the problems were the same and none of the screen readers could help. We used to be able to get e-mail addresses for support but not any more, you can't even find them on google, a lot of these companies use the same sellers i.e. clever bridge and digital river among others , not all companies allow you to try before you buy, from now on, unless I can try something before I pay for it, I won’t be buying it in case it doesn’t work with a screen reader and I have to get a refund, they really aren’t making it easy for us now, a lot of the software interfaces are getting harder to use.

Re: fixing sound issues
Gene
It isn't clear to me what the problem is. You said yesterday you just found out you have two sound cardds. Is one of them an external USB sound card or are they both internal sound cards?
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
You can tell JAWS which soundcard to use if you have two. Do the audio problems just affect JAWS or everything? Since I don't know how things are set up on your computer in terms of which soundcard plays which audio, you may solve the problem most easily by purchasing an inexpensive external sound card, connecting it, and seeing if all audio comes from that card. If it does, that should solve the problem. Gene

For IE11 you need to check the checkbox for IE11 to remember your user name and passwword before pressing the sign-in button. Then after you press the sign-in button you should get a notification bar dialogue press, Alt + N, to open then tab to the, Yes button, and press the spacebar to save the log-in information.

Hi William. I have an HP Elitebook 8570P, and if your laptop is anything like mine, on the bottom near the rear of the unit where the battery is located, you will find 2 releases that feel like switches that are spring loaded. One of them releases the battery, and the other releases the cover. With the unit on a table with the rear facing you, I believe that the left latch releases the battery, just release it and tilt the battery toward you. The right latch releases the cover, just kind of push down gently and slide it away from you. My HD was held in with four spring-loaded screws. It is very easy to replace.

I have a HP Elitebook 850 and I want to replace the 320gb drive with a larger one. Does anybody know how to unlock the cover? It has a slide release switch, but also needs to be unlocked, and I can’t figure out where the lock is or how to unlock it. Thanks
