Hi Anna,

Thanks for your reply.

I was curious because I hadn't seen any mention of braille; I'm happy with my IPhone.

Thanks again, and have a great weekend.

Hi all,

Don't know about the Olympus recorder. The Blind Shell phone is not a
smart phone, so doesn't have the capability of connecting to a braille
device. Look at the Smart Vision2 from Irie-AT.

Hi Patrick,

How would I copy this manual? Do I connect it to the computer, and do a cut-and-paste?

Thanks again for any help.

Hi,
Yes, you can use the recorder to record your music, guitar etc
There is within the recorder a manual which is accessible. You can also copy it into your pc or phone as well just to have another copy to read.

1. A friend just gifted me a brand-new Olympus DM620. Does anyone have a manual in braille, or other accessible format? Can I use it for music, although it says "voice recorder" on the box?

2. Does the BlShell phone have any braille functionality, as the IPhones do?

Looking forward to your replies.

VPN's

Melissa Hambleton <nightfury19@...>

Are there other VPN’s beside Avast SecureLine that are accessible with JAWS?

When I was reading up on Secureline VPN, it mentioned there could be trouble sending email with Outlook which, is the only email program I use and it may experience trouble browsing the internet which, I do all the time and slow speeds with streaming services like Netflix which, I use all the time. There are trouble fixes for these I think but, if there are other accessible VPN’s without all these issues, I’d like to look into them.

Thanks,

Melissa

But it seems like it should be installed before it can be used.  I unzipped the archive and looked at the folder it created.  In there was a subfolder called installer but the only file in the installer subfolder had an .iss extention; not executable.  Dont know how to install.

This program runs from the context menu and you can do a number of things with it. It copies long name, short name, long path, short path. It can copy the exact file names of all the files in a folder to clipboard and you can then paste the list into a text editor and save it anywhere you want.

This is what I use to make text delimited databases for all my music/movies/books.

Using the MLB audio app.

Barb O'Connor

Good afternoon listers. I think someone on this list was discussing the new MLB audio app that has the latest update that allows us to listen to archive games. Is anybody getting this to work successfully? I try to go into the calendar and choose games but it doesn’t allow me to do that. If I select June, it throws me right back into January. What am I missing doing this to try to listen to games? It doesn’t look like it’s working with Alexa, either.

Any help Would be greatly appreciated.

I once tried naming my notes on the Stream and when I put the card back, I too found there were no notes in that folder but they had been moved to either the music folder or the podcast folder. Not sure why this happened but since they are mp3 files I suppose the Stream thought they belonged elsewhere. LOL!

Hi. I am a blind it student doing certificate iv networking from http://www.upskilled.edu.au. And have a assus vivo book x 540 uar laptop. Running windows 10 64 bit 2004 and jaws 2020 and also nvda 2020. Now. Need to do a online assessment. And a external firm called heropa, has a web tool. well does not load, or takes forever to load, is totally unuser friendly and not accessible. Unlabeled graphics, unlabeled buttons, menus buried within sub menus, etc, and no keyboard short cuts, and some of the labelled buttons, does nothing. So, do have a remote server given to me via heropa. For doing a assessment where I have to install windows as a virtual network or install it, configure it, add folders, add desktop shortu cuts, and desktop icons to the task bar, set up and configure a printer. So. The firm when I did login and have a free trial of jaws remote . they have windows server 2016 data centre, and maybe did ask my main trainer Charles lang-ashe, about maybe reserving a spare particion, then could do the assessment that way. If not, what accessible free online servers, or virtual machines or cloud are there. I know there’s no e-mail verification for Microsoft azure. And when I did try to sign up as a student, last year, and tried the call back feature. Because I am on the nbn and have a home landline phone, says does not support voip phones. Don’t have a mobile phone. So was able to sign up for amazon web services, seems accessible, but not able to create any virtual machines, when I selected windows server, said the operation could not be completed or not available. So, what other cloud services and also other online free accessible online remote servers. For blind people. Who cannot see and need to do this. Any ideas, or suggestions. Got till tuesday  as this is a long weekend here in Australia.

And so need some ideas.

Thanks.

Insert J, the letter U, the letter O, then arrow right. The first one in the list should say windows default. Arrow down and there should be a list of soundcards available to pick from.

If you enter on one and lose speech. Just follow the steps above and hit enter after the arrow right.

Hi Chris,

No Humanware Companiln required.
I just use the standard windows keystrokes to select drives, folders, and files.
Then I use the f2 key to rename the selected file.

I believe you need to use the humanware companion to do that.

Hi all,

Does anybody know how to give titles to notes I record on my Victor reader stream? I think I read that this can be done but I'm not sure how.

Thanks.

Troy

Smiling?

Not at all sure of what you might have done to make your notes no longer show. Are the extensions of these files still showing?

I just tried putting my sd card in the correct slot on my computer and changing the names of my audio notes that way but when I put the card back in my Victor it told me there were no notes at all although they're still there.

Unless somebody can tell me what I might've done wrong, if I have to use the Humanware companion I'm going to need some instructions because I've never used it.

Good for you Chris,

It is best that these senior moments arrive a bit at a time; less chance of major disorientation this way.

Thanks Ron, but it looks pretty complicated to me.  I downloaded it and it contains hundreds of files that I don't understand.  Looks like source code in the C language.  The install program doesn't even seem to be an executable.  Do I need a C compiler to put it together?  I just don't know where to start.  It seems like, in the old days, this chore was done with a simple one-line batch file.  I sure am behind in this stuff.

Copy the following into notepad and save it as list.txt
Rename the file to list.bat
Put a copy of it in the directory you want to list.
Launch the list.bat file and it will create a list.txt file with your
list of files.

Enjoy,
Thom
