bluetooth and USB speakers
heather albright
So, I have decided to try blutooth speakers instead of the 3.5 kind! I had a poor experience in the past with the gem2 2 set of speakers, the lag was real bad when one used jaws or NVDA! So wondering if all Bluetooth speakers will have that lag? Also, do you lose the connection or do they stay connected? My old set would lose connection after so much time, it was real annoying! I am thinking of powered Bluetooth speakers not ones that rely on a battery! I have a good pare of USB speakers however, I cant use them with my desktop as the cord that goes between the two speakers is to short by a mile! So I have them connected to my fire stick. I am glad I purcheased them when they were on sale for 39 as now they cost 240 woe! In my search, that seems to be a common complaint with USB speakers, their cord is not long enough unless you are using a laptop set up! Thanks, Heather

Seeking Recommendations for Accessible Event Management Platforms like Eventbrite
David Goldfield <david.goldfield@...>
Hello. I'm wondering if any of you could recommend an accessible event management platform which offers the features of Eventbrite. Unfortunately, Eventbrite's registration flow presents some serious accessibility challenges with screen readers. In fact, users of JAWS may find that this dialog is not even being exposed to that particular screen reader. Many thanks.

From what I understand, you can still use the Windows 10 2004 Media Creation Tool to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

My DuraCell charger is so compact that it emits no hum or other noise, and doesn't even have a power cord. It has a retractible plug and a compartment that holds one or two pairs of AA or AAA batteries and nothing else. I think it has an LED charge indicator, and that's it. If you want to be sure that your rechargeable batteries last a long time, buy Panasonic Eneloop batteries, which have consistently received top ratings. I have four Eneloop AAA batteries which I use in my Sony AM/FM Walkman, which provide many hours of service on a single charge, and have been going strong for more than five years. I have two pairs of DuraCell rechargeable batteries which I use for my Philips Sonicare Power Up electric toothbrush, and they last over a month before they need to be recharged. I hate those expensive electric toothbrushes that require separate charging stands that take up counter space and only last two or three years before they die and have to be replaced.

Re: My Note to the Blind Trainers Mailing List Regarding the Need for Training Materials For New or inexperienced Users

I am relatively certain that Mystic Access is in the process of preparing a very comprehensive tutorial on Windows 10. If history means anything, the Mystic Access tutorials are first class in terms of information and are consistently very well done although because of its size, this one is likely to be pricy.

I don't know how chargers work technically these days. In the old days, you could put your ear next to a charger and the hum would be different if the batteries are charging. It would be a rougher sound. Also, as I said, there are light detectors.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I had a charger where there was nothing wrong with the batteries and it is very unlikely there is anything wrong with any of yours. But for some reason, the contacts didn't make proper contact with some of the batteries as I continued to use the charger. I put the batteries in the charger, and would turn one or more batteries until I heard the charger make a different charging hum when I put my ear to it. I think I would listen, turn, again put my ear to the charger, turn if necessary, etc. It may have been annoying to hear the sound of turning the batteries with my ear touching the charger so I would listen, move my ear away, turn one or more batteries, and so on. And of course, using a light detector would accomplish the same thing. Also, in case of unexpected problems, it would be a good idea to keep a set of alcaline batteries of the kinds you use so that, if unexpectedly necessary, you can use nonrechargeable batteries. These batteries keep their charge a long time, about two years. Gene

Re: Looking for NIMH battery charger advice

I used to charge batteries by time as well and, it would be much cheaper to use a light detector or for those with smart phones, there may be light detector apps if they want such information.. But it isn't necessary. Charge by time. If you overcharge nickel cadmium batteries, it will shorten their lives but if you charge properly, and use the batteries, properly, they should be used until they are discharged to the point where the device runs poorly, then recharged, you won't have the overcharging problem or it will occur too little to matter.

Hello list
Can one still upgrade for free. I did the upgrade on my win7 laptop two or so years ago but now I had a hard drive crash and I had to format it and I installed Windows 7 again to be able to use that product key. Am I now stuck to win7 unless I pay for win10? Regards Fanus

RSS feed reader for windows 10 like IE
Bharat
Hi all,
I would like to import & read all my rss feeds in Chrome or edge, the way i have been used to reading in IE. The challenge is, while i can find lots of extensions to do so, none of them have as straight forward an interface such as pressing CTRL+g to bring up the feeds list & pressing enter on the desired article to read it. Request you to guide me to any options in this regard. Thank you, Bharat.
