Thanks John. That is unfortunate. It’s a shame that you can’t record stereo sound with the built-in mics without video.

Hi all,
Actually, this isn't an Excel problem, it's a math problem. Fifteen minutes is 25% of an hour, 1/4 in other words. You don't need to deal with the .6 which is 1% of 60. If you have a column in your spreadsheet that is labeled hours, what you do is simply write down the number of hours in the formula they want for each session. Then, in the next column you label it total hours and in the first cell below the title you write sum(d4:d15) or whatever the range of cells you've got in your hours column. If you send me your email addy, I'll send you a sample spread sheet. You can modify it to fit your needs. I do this all the time with my own students. I'll send you one of those spreadsheets with the name removed. Please advise.

You are mistaken, there is no keystroke that will
accomplish this. I believe what you are actually wanting, is a Run Dialogue
command that will successfully take you to the directory that has your various

Open up the Run Dialogue by using the keystroke Windows

Type exactly what’s below and press Enter.

Hi Dave,
As these are, presumably, just standard numerical values, I don't
see why you couldn't use the sum command to add them up.
So if all your values you wish to add were in row d, and the
values were in rows 4 to 35, your formula would read
=sum(d4:35)
Does this work for you?
Cheers

What are you using with the new sound card to play audio? If things happen properly, when you connect the new sound card, the old USB speaker you are using should lose speech and you should now have speech using the new sound card connected to the analog speakers or headphones you are using with the new card.
When you connect the new soundcard, there is nothing to do. It should start working after a short pause while the new USB software is ffound by Windows.

Gene,
There is no 30 dollar sound card, nothing of quality worth mentioning. The fios dac is about 75 dollars, and is as cheap as a dac goes. The zen has a better price/performance ratio, and is 129. These aren't high end dacs iether, there are several near 200 dollars, several around 300-400, and a few above 2500.

As audio processing may affect pure voice audio, it is recommended to get a USB DAC that does not provide any audio processing.
Most of our USB DAC have some audio processing on the driver. Therefore they are not recommended for your desired usage.

How much does a very good USB soundcard cost? I bought a pair of high res audiophile grade headphones, and the reviews say you definately need an external DAC/soundcard to drive them to get all the quality.

If you are only looking to display a list of apps. Press the Windows key then tab twice to All Apps. You will find a list of apps starting with most used followed by an alphabetical list of apps.

You are mistaken, there is no keystroke that will accomplish this. I believe what you are actually wanting, is a Run Dialogue command that will successfully take you to the directory that has your various programs available on your machine. Open up the Run Dialogue by using the keystroke Windows key+R. Type exactly what’s below and press Enter. shell:appsfolder

Re: still having sound issues, looking for a good pare of USB speakers
Realtek is your onboard sound card so unfortunately no more saying that you do not know.
I am sure that you could care less, but the way to properly spell Bose, has no W within it.
The software that you were speaking of is most likely called either Belarc Advisor or Speccy and these two softwares still properly work.

"Recalling that we had some cases whereby the text to speech application gives garbled sound on the Sound Blaster Z after some time. We are sadly not able to confirm if our audio devices support text to speech applications.
As audio processing may affect pure voice audio, it is recommended to get a USB DAC that does not provide any audio processing.
Most of our USB DAC have some audio processing on the driver. Therefore they are not recommended for your desired usage.
You may want to check out USB DAC from other manufacturers like FiiO, AudioQuest, Audioengine that do not provide audio effects.
We are truly sorry , that we dont have anything suitable in our product range , but I have posted your suggestion in our feedback , and you never know , maybe it will be considered for future develeopments.-

Gene,
There is no 30 dollar sound card, nothing of quality worth mentioning. The fios dac is about 75 dollars, and is as cheap as a dac goes. The zen has a better price/performance ratio, and is 129. These aren't high end dacs iether, there are several near 200 dollars, several around 300-400, and a few above 2500.

Hi Heather,
As they recommended, I think you should get the FIO or Zen Dac, which don't process audio, which output audio purely.

Dear Heather,
I have talked to the technical product team and we got the following reply :
"Recalling that we had some cases whereby the text to speech application gives garbled sound on the Sound Blaster Z after some time. We are sadly not able to confirm if our audio devices support text to speech applications.
As audio processing may affect pure voice audio, it is recommended to get a USB DAC that does not provide any audio processing.
Most of our USB DAC have some audio processing on the driver. Therefore they are not recommended for your desired usage.
You may want to check out USB DAC from other manufacturers like FiiO, AudioQuest, Audioengine that do not provide audio effects.
We are truly sorry , that we dont have anything suitable in our product range , but I have posted your suggestion in our feedback , and you never know , maybe it will be considered for future develeopments.-
If you are having any other inquiries now or later on, please contact us here again.
Have a great day.
Regards, Marcel"

I would avoid the creative ones. There are reports online that the driver software has bugs under 10, and that the direct mode, whith enhancements disabled, isn't as neutral as it should be. Moreover, the enhancements would mess with NVDA or JAWS, and be annoying.

This has happened to my partner after every major Windows update. She has a Dell Lattitude and is using JAWS. Dell had her disable the Real Tech audio drivers so the computer would use the computer speakers. This does fix the issue but like I said, every major update re-installs the Real Tech drivers again and this process starts all over again. Hope this helps.

Well, I got a creative sound card for 19 dollars and it had a 4.6 rating. I will try it out today. If it does not work, I might get one of the dacs like the fios which is created by texas instruments or the zen dac. I thought try the cheaper solution first! Anything to get away from this 5 dollar usb speaker woe! Thank you all for all the help and I learned a lot! cheers Heather ----- Original Message ----- From: "enes sarıbaş" <enes.saribas@gmail.com> To: <main@TechTalk.groups.io> Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2020 10:11 PM Subject: Re: [TechTalk] having sound issues, communication from creative
Gene,
There is no 30 dollar sound card, nothing of quality worth mentioning. The fios dac is about 75 dollars, and is as cheap as a dac goes. The zen has a better price/performance ratio, and is 129. These aren't high end dacs iether, there are several near 200 dollars, several around 300-400, and a few above 2500.

What s the cost and what is the advantage over getting a thirty dollar sound card when someone says they are satisfied with the internal sound card they were using? I always take context into account when making recommendations of products if I know that context is available and may matter.

Hi Heather,
As they recommended, I think you should get the FIO or Zen Dac, which don't process audio, which output audio purely.

The sound went out from the sound card off the mother board. So I am looking to external USB connected sound cards. I did not like the sound that my little5 dollar USB speaker is giving me and prefer to be able to use my 3.5 bows speakers again. I wanted to have a sound card that jaws could use and I could use it for all other audio from my MP3 library. I also watch youtube videos too. I wanted a good quality sound card and I could take it if I have to upgrade to another pc. If things are starting to go bad off the mother board. For now it is just the sound and as far as I know that is the only issue for now! I do like Dolby AC-3 for my media. Like the surround sound too. IT is just audio first it was the screen reader but, than it started affecting other sounds too. So that is why I pulled out my 5 dollar USB speaker so I would still have sound. I am not interested in gaming and i find that is all they talk about when I started doing research I wish we had some blind youtubers who can show how their sound card sounds with assistive technology. And regular audio. Does the problem just happen with speech? How much money are you thinking of spending? And are you currently using an internal or external soundcard?

I am in the process of e-mailing the sound card manufactures suggested too. I left a review and thanked them for their honesty about the sound cards. I guess the did not test weather or not the controls were accessible or not! Interesting. I got mine a week ago. So far it sounds great. I'm running my mixer through it and all is well. It seems funny that garbled speech would happen over time.

So there you go, they even give suggestions to other sound cards. I want to be able to control how my sound card puts out audio. If I am spending money on a product, I believe I have the right to expect to be able to use all features of that product. cheers Heather

Please do. I just purchased a creative sound blaster Audigy. I didn't bother installing the software because it works fine without it as I am just running my speakers through the audio line out, and my Yamaha mixer through the line in, but if the control panel is accessible I might take a look at it.

Well, creative got back to me today and I have two people working on this. I think they are going to use narrator and jaws in 40 mode to see if it can read the controls and how it sounds. I do not know exactly. But at least they got back to me! Will Keep everyone updated. cheers Heather ----- Original Message ----- From: "enes sarıbaş" <enes.saribas@gmail.com> To: <main@TechTalk.groups.io> Sent: Monday, June 15, 2020 4:03 PM Subject: Re: [TechTalk] having sound issues
I don't know honestly. I personally am looking at the Zen dac, which is like 20 cheaper than the creative, but I think audiophile or music orientated audio dacs are the best, as they don't have the sound effects and such gamer cards have.

I would avoid the creative ones. There are reports online that the driver software has bugs under 10, and that the direct mode, whith enhancements disabled, isn't as neutral as it should be. Moreover, the enhancements would mess with NVDA or JAWS, and be annoying.

I am trying to find one that supports Dolby digital sound for my audio files. I heard the Creative Sound Blaster was a good brand. Has anyone used this type of sound card? Also do you have to use proprietary software or will windows10 detect the sound card. I keep reading about them off amazon and first they say you can plug and goe and than they said you have to to use Creative Sound Blaster controls to do ajustments to the sound card. That is fine but will the drivers be accessible to jaws or NVDA? But isn't there a midrange, to high grade price range? I read around 100-200 dollars average for a good one.

Hi,
How much does a very good USB soundcard cost? I bought a pair of high res audiophile grade headphones, and the reviews say you definately need an external DAC/soundcard to drive them to get all the quality.
