Hi Chris And David,
Yes, episode 18 is excellent and I’ve learned a lot from it. Not sure why one would actually need the Siri shortcuts. But, I’m slowly working my way to making Castro my default podcatcher.
As I think about it, the one shortcut that I wish I could install is the import Apple podcasts.
I appreciate both of your notes.

I hate to be cynical, but Microsoft in its wisdom deemed
that the classic spell checker was too old fashioned for
Word2013. I don't like it either. You have to taqb to each
option and activate it manually instead of using the
hotkeys. It just adds more time to the process.

I know several seniors who are not tec computer savvy and on top of that, they are or have lost their site. So it is not easy for them just to come out and search for things or know how to do conplex computer operations. They do not have the training that a lot of us take for granted.

I'm not saying this as a judgment on what you are doing. I'm saying that, as a matter of list policy, discussing illegal software and how to crack it isn't permitted on this list and it isn't permitted on a lot of lists. Such discussions put lists in legal jeopardy and, if the owner of Groups.io were to discover such discussions, the lists where they occur might be shut down by the owner of Groups.io.

As I said, this has nothing to do with however I may feel about specific circumstances and discussions. It is a matter of protecting the list and it is a widely followed policy on this and other list serves.

Therefore, I shall lock this topic.

so does anyone know of a way that I can bypass the registration for the MaPlEr software, as I use it for recording, especially with it's monitor output feature, which is perfect if one needs to set up levels and such, and is something I haven't found in other recording programs.

Hello;

I'm trying to help a friend connect his Basic-D embosser to his windows 10 computer.

his embosser is connected to computer using USB.

I have installed the latest index drivers.

My questions,

how to get the printer to show in the devices and printers,

and, what port to use.

I assume I need to setup manually.

not sure what to do from there,

I see 13 choices of ports, but don't see an USB choice not sure which one to choose.

in advance, thanks for any help.

I just started using it as well. I’ve only broken the surface. I was able to tell siri to play a certain podcast, and even skip to the next chapter. I didn’t have to do anything regarding short cuts to make this happen. I just followed along with Jonathan on Saturday while listening to the mushroom. I don’t think he went in detail as to how to set up siri short cuts.

There are two podcasts which Jonathan recorded covering the use of Castro.

First, a very recent episode, that being episode 44, demonstrates the newly added Siri capabilities which were recently added to Castro. Please note that this is really a demonstration and not a full tutorial.

Episode 18 is a general demonstration of Castro. I haven't yet heard this episode but I plan to as I recently switched to Castro because of Jonathan's recommendation.

Wow, I wonder why? Of course, you always can call Apple Accessibility. They can't screen share with you until you get that in place, but they can give directions. In fact, I like it when they do screen share, because when I used them, the guy told me where to go to do what, rather than just doing it, then me having to get him to try to explain.

I’ve narrowed the problem down to I can’t install siri shortcuts using Castro because my shortcut security settings won’t allow for it. Now I have to figure out how to allow Castro shortcuts to be installed.

So, I just checked my Settings, and I think that if you get into Settings and enter on the first thing, which should be your name, and it says Apple ID. You should have the place there to enter your passcode. When I did, I had the choice of six or four. I figured, it's free, I might as well get as much as I can, so I put in six, LOL.

At the very upper left, there is a key that toggles turning the number input on and off. That is the way it is on a laptop numpad, but JAWS always turns the number input off by default. with the external numpad, you have to press the top left your self to turn off the mumber input. Try pressing that upper left key on the external mumpad, and it should work as your arrow keys and so om. Let me know if that works.
