You own a Xerox Work Center 3210. I don't see that on Amazon now. I do see something called a 3335 Work Center Mona chrome blue/white or black/white. I am not sure quite what this means. Does it mean that this is essentially a black/white printer only? Would the blue/white mean that the text would be in blue rather than black? I can't determine whether the 3335 version is touch screen or has buttons. The description doesn't say. With touch screen printers, is there an app of some sort--any voice support? I get not. I am having trouble finding a new printer like the one you have. It may not be available anymore. There is an upgrade to a Xerox B215DNI Monochrome Multifunction Printer, but not sure of the controls.
I may call Amazon accessibility and see what they think.
Appreciate your help.

It depends on your OS whether or not JAWS will work because with Windows7 (using some registry files) JAWS would work while in Safe Mode, but this unfortunately does not seem to be the case using Windows10. Microsoft claims that Narrator will work while in Safe Mode in a video on YouTube, but others say that it is not true and that Narrator will not successfully work within Safe Mode.
As far as getting into Safe Mode.
BootSafe is something that you may want to look in to (description and URL to download below).
BootSafe - Download: https://bootsafe.en.softonic.com/#tab-review
* This is the description I spoke of above.
From: Brian Vogel
After all the discussion of getting sound in Safe Mode, it would probably help to discuss actually booting into it.
I have earlier talked about using MSCONFIG or bcdedit methods for doing this, but both have the disadvantage of making that boot sequence "permanent" if you don't undo the change while you're in Safe Mode.
Someone on Bleeping Computer just pointed me to a freeware utility, BootSafe, that fills the bill perfectly to allow you to either directly restart and boot into Safe Mode a single time, or to stage things such that when you choose to Restart next that you'll boot into Safe Mode. It's also 100% accessible with NVDA.
The program runs as a portable program from any non-networked drive (that means copy it somewhere on a disc drive that's internal to your machine). The only big proviso is that you must not remove the program or move it from its location after you've used it to stage a Safe Boot on next Restart. Once you've gone to Safe Mode, and then later rebooted into regular Windows, you can safely remove it then.
The options, for anyone used to using Safe Mode or looking to use Safe Mode, are self explanatory. All are controlled by radio buttons and as you move among the 4 options the radio button is automatically selected. The default is Safe Mode, Minimal, which means without networking. You want to down arrow once to get to the Safe Mode with Networking option. After that you simply tab to one of two buttons:
list of 2 items 1. Configure only (no restart) - which sets the stage for the machine to enter Safe Mode when you next choose to Restart it or Cold Boot from complete shutdown. 2. Restart Windows - which instantly begins the Restart process, so close out your programs before hitting this to save your data, and boots straight into Safe Mode. list end
If you change your mind after having fired up the program, and have not yet activated either of those two buttons, simply close the program.
BootSafe for Windows Restart your PC in a single click BootSafe is a tiny application that allows you to restart your PC in Safe Mode with a single click. Hi Gerald, I understand that Narrator for Windows 10 does although I haven’t tried it myself. When I did the removal on my Windows 7, I used the assistance of Be My Eyes. A helpful lady all the way from Finland told me where to move the mouse to click “Remove”. Not having used a mouse in all my eleven years of PC usage, it was an awesome experience to me.

Hi Shirley, Go to Google and type Avast Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for Avast Removal To download the Avast! Removal utility. That’s how I did it when I uninstalled it from my Windows 7. Kind regards Tim.

Re: Security Essentials question

It works that way i MSE. MSE will install the definitions updates automatically. There are 2 ways to search for updates manually. With in the MSE interface or in Windows Update. But again they'll be installed and therefore no need to search for them unless you want them a littlle faster than the scheduled definition updates. I don't know exactly how many times a day MSE checks for updates.

Hi Shirley,
I am not sure about other operating systems, but with Windows 10, I went to programs and features and used the uninstall feature for Avast. It is not too accessible, but I believe if you run the uninstall from programs and features, if you press enter on one of the inaccessible buttons, the rest is automated and the uninstall completes. Give that a try and see what happens. On 6/26/2020 11:52 PM, Shirley Healy

The printer is an HP laser jet 1012 and the scanner is a Xerox 7600. I got the Windows 7 in 2011 and think I may have gotten the printer and scanner, then but am not sure. I don't need detailed formatting. I am not in a school or business situation and printing is fairly simple things like grocery lists, letters, etc. I do not scan books and scanning is mostly snail mail etc. Margaret

Holly,
From what I understand, when you print in black
& white it requires a certain amount of ink from the color cartridge
to print. So, you should be okay in printing an occasional file,
doesn't have to be very much, but just enough to move some ink. If I'm
wrong, someone please jump in and correct me!

No, a ink jet printer. Someone said to print something
once a week to keep the ink jet heads from clogging. I was just wondering
if you had to print a color page, not just a black and white
one.

Hi Margaret,
Good news and not so good news. I was not
able to find updated drivers for the HP Laser Jet 1012, but I did find the
Windows 10 driver for your Xerox 7600. I used my Win-10 computer to do all
the searching so the website would definitely see that I was looking for Win-10
drivers specifically. Below is the Dropbox direct download link with the
website I got the driver from in the zipped folder.
Sure hope this helps you out.
