Troy,

Follow the same steps, but on step#5, Real Time protection, press the spacebar to check this if it's unchecked.

Also, if you look in your system tray and Windows Security says no actions needed, your Real Protection is most likely turned on, but check it anyways.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Also, make sure the download engine is up to date.  It's called youtube-dl.  sites try to defeat it and then its author defeats their attempts.  It's a cat and mouse game between them so you have to keep the engine up to date.

In version 2.x, press the alt key, to enter the menus.

Right arrow twice to options and press enter.

Then down arrow twice to update download engine and press enter.

Hi Ann P.

When you get to the list of your bookmarks, go to the bottom of the list and Up Arrow; for some reason, newer bookmarks are grouped alphabetically, unless there is something about Chrome bookmarks that I don't know (and that's probably a foregone conclusion).

help needed activating malware bytes pro

Troy Burnham

Hi all,

I have malware bytes pro and I need to activate it. The problem is when I either paste the license key in the appropriate place or type it in there's no activation button. Has anybody done this and can help?

I bought mwb several years ago and have had it activated on this computer for a while, but I did a system restore this afternoon and now when I look in my system tray it shows I'm running the free version of malware bytes.

Thanks.

Need Help with Thunderbird

Evan Reese

Hey Guys,

I had some major problems with the unsupported Windows Live Mail, so I dumped it and got Thunderbird.

I've gotten it working pretty well so far, but I am having some issues with it.

The main one is that I cannot import my messages from Windows Live Mail.

I found some instructions, but they do not seem to apply to my version of Thunderbird.

I was told to export the WLM messages in .eml format, which I did.

Then create a new folder in my Thunderbird Local Folders section and then select it, which I also did.

Then, I was told to right click on that folder and find Import Export Tools. But that option isn't in my Context menu.

So I went out to Google and found an add-on called Import Export Tools and downloaded it.

I couldn't figure out where to put it, and the page where the file was located didn't tell me, so I once again went to Google and looked up how to install an add-on from a file. I followed the instructions and was told that the add-on was incompatible with my version of Thunderbird, version 68.10.1. Apparently, there are newer versions of Thunderbird. I wasn't aware that I was getting an older version when I got it a couple weeks ago.

I'm using a Windows 7 laptop, which I hope to replace in the not too distant future, but I'd like to get my old WLM messages imported before then.

A related problem is that I do not see any way to update Thunderbird in any of the menus.

So you can see, I need a bit of help. <smile>

I'm not sure how old this program is, so perhaps it's not quite ready for prime time yet. Surely, importing messages from other email clients is a pretty basic function that I shouldn't need an add-on to get, shouldn't it?

Oh, I did try to import from the Tools menu, but that didn't work. I only get two choices in there, Becky and Outlook. Neither one of those works.

Any help would be appreciated.

Much thanks.

Evan

Allowing Adobe Flash Player

Mike B

Hi All,

Running both the latest 1909 and 2004 Win-10 with Jaws2020 latest and NVDA latest, with MS Edge & Google Chrome latest.
Okay, we go to the ADT portal website to access our security cameras and to turn on / off the alarms for both houses.
If my wife wants to watch live views for either house we get a message stating that we need to install the latest Adobe Flash Player, but we do have the latest Player installed.  I've been into settings and tried to set the flash player settings to, Allow, on both the Edge & Chrome browsers, but the settings don't stay even while in the same session.  Also we get a pop-up that is there for only a brief second stating an add-on has been blocked, and I'm pretty sure it's the Flash Player add-on that's being blocked.  Well, we don't have any Flash add-ons / extensions installed so it has to be blocking the installed Flash Player from programs & features.

I have tried to find the Flash Player add-on / extension for both browsers hoping this would solve this problem, but can't find 1 anywhere.  The only way my wife can watch live video is by clicking a, Lock, to the left of the address bar, choosing, Allow, for the Flash Player, and then and only then can she watch live video streams.  But, this setting only works during the current session.

Does anyone know of any tweaks that will allow Flash Player to work for all sessions?  Also, does anyone know how to access the, Lock, next to the address bar using a screen reading program?

All help and input will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

That is interesting that the female American English Siri voice stop working for you. It hasn’t completely stopped for me, but it will not work for me when I try to use the activities section and have her read my mail. It works on my iPhone 7 but not on my new SE. I’ve been trying to figure that out for quite some time now. For a while, it would work, then, all of a sudden it would be the default voice reading my mail. I’d have to go back in and reload the voice. It would then last for a little while but stop working again. I finally gave up And deleted the Mail activity. she still does work on my SE for normal question asking. At first I thought there might be a problem because this was only a 64 gig phone, but, I still have plenty a room so I don’t think that’s the problem. I’m not quite sure how to report this to Apple, either.

Ron, I think everybody’s giving you more information than what you want. I have a feeling it for some reason the volume on your Siri has been turned down. What you need to do is press the home button until you hear the ding, then ask her a question something that will require her to say quite a bit. As soon as you think that she is starting to answer the question, press the volume up until you start hearing her voice and stop when you have it at the level you want.

Hope you will report back and let us know if you got her fixed. If you’re interested in hey Siri, you can go to Siri and search and set it up. You have to say a few things so that she gets used to your voice.

Hope this helps.

Hi Group,

Here's an update.  I figured out what was going on.  It wasn't that things weren't activated under the siri and search section of settings. It was a simple matter of the volume being at 0 for Siri. I didn't ever do this directly, but somehow that's what happened.  I forget who it was that mentioned this might be the case.  Thanks to whoever it was.  I am using the Siri male voice and he sounds a bit softer than the default male voice for VoiceOver, but he's listenable.

If you bottom post, a lot of people won't see your message. It is customary on lists composed mostly of blind people to top post.

Hi Group,

first of all, I was very afraid of the iPhone and although I saw its power, I was very reticent to get one. Finally I got one and despite all my fears, I was able to master the touch gestures and VoiceOver navigation techniques with relative ease. Long story short: I almost never use Siri. I wanted to find out some trivia information earlier today and I pressed the home key and said: 'Hey Siri: What President's last name ends with the letter 'T?' There was no answer. I tried it again. I tried asking simpler questions--still no go. I turned off VoiceOver. I went to settings/Siri and Search and everything was supposedly enabled.

Maybe she's mad at me for ignoring her for over a year. I joke, but seriously, what could have happened that she doesn't respond at all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Philips BDP5502/F7?

Hi List, Does anyone here have Philips BDP5502/F7 DVD? Is it just a stand-alone player or can it be hooked up to your computer and act as your DVD reader and writer?

Googling it does not make this clear.

Since I am thinking of buying this unit for my computer, I would really appreciate someone letting me know about it!

Sincerely, Vicky V
