Re: Zoom Workshop By Landline

Carolyn Arnold

Our church is switching to Zoom from Go to Meeting, but right now with Go to Meeting, I can get on with my iPhone using commas, after the call in number, two commas, access number, two cfommas, pound, two commas, pound again, and I'm in. A lady on a chat list told me to do that and said that Shift 7 would give me the commas, because the key pad is up, and I'd heard that, but never could figure out where the comma would be.

I was timed out on my iPhone too before I was given the instructions about the commas. But, then, if the host is not allowing, then you have a problem.

Hi, All:

I called the host before the meeting and she said she thought she had not allowed the phone part since people were being timed out putting in the ID and pass code.

I didn't get the microphone to work, but I had audio so was able to listen to the meeting.

Thanks to everyone for their help and patience.

Hi Carolyn, Simply put bouncing is caused by your email provider. I believe what happens is that your email provider decides to bounce the messages back to groups.io and you don't even get to see them. I have yet to see any questionable messages from groups.io entailing a link to unbounce yourself from a groups.io group though. But then again Gmail does notbounce messages, or at least it hasn't in my case.

Stay well,.

When I checked a few months ago, the SAPI 5 version of Eloquence, which you can use with any program that supports it, not just NVDA,, cost about the same as the add-on. I don't know if there are performance differences that matter between the two but it might be useful to discuss the question and other advantages and disadvantages of one over the other.

You have to purchase either the Vocalizer, Ellequence,
Or the package with both, which is the cheapest option, from AT Guys. Somebody else may sell them, but I know AT Guys does.

Josh, I have two Braille Blazers I'd like to part with.  I think they were (mechanically) based on a dot matrix printer.  As such, I would think that anyone who can repair one of those could work on a Blazer.  One of mine is an original and the other is a more refined version.

Kay Malmquist

When the facilitator of the meeting sets it up, they can choose if they
would like to use phone or not. So, if there is no phone info, you can
assume that you can't use the phone. I know several zoom phone numbers and
have, as an experiment tried to use the phone when no numbers were
available and it would not work. In fact, the message was that the
moderator had not chosen phone as an option. Oh yes, the meeting ID and
password are the same on the phone as well as on line.

I've discovered that the microphone input level is 0% and it says
microphone volume not available 100%. I think my arms are too short to
follow the microphone cord to try to see if it is connected somewhere,
but will keep trying. Hearing people is more important and I can
definitely hear those ringtones.

Since I can apparently hear people, can I use the computer or do I have
to use one of the phone numbers I was given and then might be able to
ask a question should one arise. I do not have a camera and the phone
is landline and not smartphone.

Thanks,

Margaret

There MIGHT have been a message that my microphone was not connected,

navigate around the screen with JAWS didn't help. The page changed
before I could try again.

I've had the microphone for years, but this is the first time I have

Here is a correction and more information.

When you join the meeting, I use the join without video button, but if
you have a camera, you can join with video as well and I think you'll
get the same tests, but if you don't have a camera, I think you'll see
an error message that no camera was found. If you don't have a camera,
avoid that needless complication and join without audio. Once you join,
you'll hear a test pattern through your headphones or speakers. Wait a
moment and tab around. You will see a way of answering yes or know as to
whether you hear audio.

Once you finish that part of the test, simply speak for a number of
seconds, then stop. You will hear what you said if things are working
correctly. Of course, you have to pass the audio part of the test
before you can hear your microphone test played back.

You can continue to test and speak at different volume levels or try
different microphone positions.

Here is the link for the test meeting. If you have problems, let us
know.
https://zoom.us/test

If the window opens properlyafter you press the join button, tab around
and
see what you see. Use join with audio if that is the only thihng that
applies. Then tab around again. You will probably see a way to test
your
audio and your microphone. The audio test may start by itself after you
join with audio.
To test with the microphone, press the button that applies with the
space
bar, talk for a few seconds then stop. If things are working well, you
should hear yourself shortly after you stop talking.

You can probably tab around the interface as well and see the things I
discussed earlier or if you are using a tutorial, see the things
discussed
in it.

there is some sort of way to get into a test site run by Zoom. I tried
it
months ago and you can test your audio level and microphone level. I
may be
able to find the page if no one knows it. If you test the microphone
and
hear no audio, that doesn't necessarily mean your microphone isn't
working.
You may need to change the source in volume control so the Microphone
audio
