Not sure if you were ever able to get past your password misfortune, and even though you were given a few answers that I would see working for your situation, here it is again below just in case.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Clear the previous text within a password before typing in your password: 1. Do a select all command of Control+A. 2. Hitting delete will clear everything. 3. Type in your password.

If not Safe Mode? I don't understand what it is that you mean. Didn't you say that you went I'm guessing to msconfig and make it so your computer would boot into Safe Mode right? That's the only reason we're even talking about it, but if you truly weren't actually trying to make it boot into Safe Mode and it's now asking you for a password. Trip trip trippy. Maybe this is all due to that registery file you spoke of. Re: Checking On A Disc Drive
Smiling?
Go to This PC and highlight the drive, using the keystroke Alt+Enter to go into Properties or, use your Applications key and arrow up once to Properties pressing Enter.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Not sure of what screen reader it is that you are using, but if you were a JAWS user you would need to root JAWS to PC to then see what the Properties said within it. I guess with NVDA it reads this information automatically which a lister said earlier. At any rate, you would need to see the capacity of the drive, and how much data was actually upon the drive which probably sounds like a lot, but it's truly not.

You would need to use third party software's to accomplish this, just go the internet and search for that and answers will be within the top ten.

Re: How to Backup a Win10 Laptop
Smiling?
If a drive says that it’s a 1TB drive then no, it's not going to be larger than 1TB regardless.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
It's sounding like from what you wrote, that you are more interested in actually cloning your system. As far as overwriting clones, I would imagine that this is possible, but most of the time you the user, would not want to do that (there are generally exceptions to every rule though). Not sure of the actual amount of data upon your internal drive, but you probably could get 2 to 5 copies of your internal drive to your external. This is obviously based upon how much data your internal had which you said had not much at all on it. You might want to truly learn more about backing up and cloning before beginning any of this though. And it's just like anything, there's going to be things that you've never even heard of before and words that you are unfamiliar with etc. the internet is an excellent (as I am sure you are already well aware of) resource of information. This subject matter though is extensive as you are quickly learning. Don't get me wrong, I will help where I can help, but when/if something ever comes up most likely anyway, there is only going to be you and however many clones etc. which true, a technician could come in and see these clones that you show him or her and they will know (at least should know) how to use them to restore your machine if of course, you for whatever reasons are incapable of doing it for yourself.

Re: BackUp vs Clone
Smiling?
A clone is essentially a bit for bit copy of your drive, 100% identical hence the name clone very similar to you taking a cutting of a plant which genetically is going to be identical to the mother.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
A backup can be automated (so can imaging software's as well), but generally is manually copied over whatever specifics the user desires to be backed up. A backup is a copy or more of the same thing. These both have similarities, but think of a clone as you taking a snapshot of you getting yourself all made up and then you go and get pictures taken of yourself all made up. Now in this fantasy metaphor example, if desired, you can restore yourself to look exactly like the pictures taken back when you were all made up to be literally identical to the snapshots where you put forth whatever efforts to look whichever way you selectively chose to look. So having such an image/clone just in case something happens to your system, you could take this image and do what is called restore the image. This means that bit for bit, it's going to be identical to the snapshot as whenever it was taken. A backup, is copies of whatever you selectively chose to backup. So if something was for whatever reasons no longer made to work (audio file, movie, video you have created etc.), you could just copy over the additional copy that you backed up and overwrite it which would make that piece of data work once again.

Re: In search of smartphone recommendations
Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.
Abbie, Samsung Folder2 does have buttons. It's not widely available in
phone stores, eBay may be your friend if you are planning on getting one. It runs on Nougat which is Android7. As for Nokia, ever since Symbian went off to glory land, the company has not looked back. It was originally a Microsoft acquisition and it produced touchscreen toys for Windows such as the Lumia. Well, Microsoft DID NOT GET in the game early enough, Android and iOS stole the show. Microsoft essentially jettisoned Nokia; Nokia regrouped and, by way of licensure to HMD, now produces touchscreen toys exclusively in Androidville. Nokia is slowly, but surely coming back strong in the mid-range Android toy space. Yes, Nokia toys are still great, but no buttons! Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

There was/is a samsund phone with buttons called the Folder 2. It has buttons and I believe is a smart phone.
Do not mistake this for the newer and really expensive wallet style phone which folds like a wallet, but has no buttons.

Re: Problems with pc start and NVDA
Quentin Christensen
Delete removes the character to the right of the caret, backspace removes the character to the left. So, if you type a letter, and immediately realise it is the wrong one, you can press backspace to remove it. If you are reading through text, if you press the arrow keys to move to a character, the caret will be on the left of that character, and you can press delete to remove it. So in terms of Ann's suggestion of clearing the password edit to ensure there is nothing already in there, there are a few ways to do it, one other way is to press control+a to select all then either delete or backspace will remove the selected text. Regards Quentin.

When the drive is selected, press alt plus the enter and the properties dialog for the drive will open. Nvda reads the info automaticly, I think there is a key combo you have to use with jaws to here the info.

Disabling certain keyboard shortcuts in Thunderbird
Skye
Hi - does anyone know how to disable (or reassign) the single key
keyboard shortcuts in Thunderbird? If keyboard focus is not in the
email, then every key typed that has a corresponding single keyboard
shortcut gets activated. For example, if I select "a" , whichever
email was previously selected would be archived into an offline
folder. Obviously would rather keep combination shortcuts like
Ctrl+C to copy (and paste).
Not sure why sometimes focus is automatically shifts to the email but sometimes it stays with the main view. Bad enough to lose the email text that was not captured but then to realize that I have been activating unknown functionality then trying to figure out what was typed to undo whatever the system just did. Appreciate any ideas or suggestions!

As well as Ann's suggestion, it might be worth double checking that you are in fact signing in with the user account you think you are signing in with. I only have one account on mine, but from memory, if you tab through that login screen, you should get to either an account option, or a list of accounts. Also, if for some reason your PC doesn't have internet access, and you are signing in with a Microsoft account, you will need to use the password you last used ON THAT PC (just in case you changed it somewhere else) - note that only applies if the PC doesn't have an internet connection and you are logging into a Microsoft account, not a local account. Regards Quentin.
