Is it possible to delete blocked callers, or do they go away after a certain amount of time?

It will. It is a Chrome-based browser and will generally work where Chrome will.

Shirley, for Windows10, many will probably recommend Edge or Chrome; but I
recommend Brave! Give it a shot, it might be your good friend.

There was a zoom meeting on Open Scad coding, but I didn't see an invitation.  It was with the National Federation of the Blind.  I'll ask your question on their crafters list.

Are there any mailing lists, web pages, facebook groups etc dedicated to this aspect of 3d printing that anyone is aware of please?

Bonus points of course, for something which works with NVDA :)

Hi all,

There are advantages to both free and paid learning. I have tried both, and they both work. I have learned independently, as well as learning in a class. It all depends on what you need as an individual.

Hi all,
For some reason when I used tandem with his machine and tried myself the menu worked normally.
He could get it to work after that.
It is possible that f11 had been pressed between last time I spoke to him and now, will let him know about that.
Thanks all for input.

I doubt it has anything to do with a setting.  There would be no reason to have a setting that causes the menu not to come up.

Did you try the usual generic things?  Unload and reload the screen-reader. Sometimes, a screen-reader will cause problems with an action and this easy possible solution is all that is necessary. If that doesn't work, did you reboot?  If that doesn't work, have you verified that this inability to bring up the context menu is a general problem and not specific to this site?  I suspect it is a general problem.

I won't go on making possible suggestions until I find out if all these things have been done and what the results are.

Hi all,
I'm working with someone who has a strange issue with Chrome.
If they go to a site to download a file and they try to bring up the context menu to save link as the menu doesn't activate.
I am able to activate the menu on two machines of mine from the same site.
Wondering what setting may have been changed in chrome to make this happen?
TIA.

Hi Sharon, free instruction is always welcome, but may not cover all that I need.

On the other hand, I have paid for tutorials for the visually impaired and sometimes, they do not cover all that I would have liked them to do either. None of them have yet cover all the abilities of the software.

From now on, I intend to see what I can learn from the free instruction and then with a list of what I still need to learn, I will then ask paid instruction if they will cover those.

Sincerely, Vicky V

Hi,

I'm curious about how most of us would want to learn technology. Would you prefer to glean free resources, or would it be better to get paid tutorials and training? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Kindle Fire Tablet

Kerryann Ifill <ksbf@...>

Hi,

I’ve been having some issues with my kindle fire lately and a call to the amazon disability answer desk was a case of them not having a clue!

If anyone is familiar with playing books on the Kindle using either of the 3rd party apps “ess File manager” or “folder player” or transferring from dropbox directly to the SD card.
I’d welcome a chance to chat with you as I’m clear out of ideas on how to solve this one!

Thanks in advance.
Kerry

Re: Google Chrome issue?

Gene

You mean to take it out of full screen. When in full screen, no menus come up because the main part of the window covers the entire screen. That may be the solution, pressing f11 to toggle full screen off.

According to what I've read, Brave isn't inherently faster than other equivalent browsers. The difference is that Brave blocks advertising from web sites and provides their own. Therefore, much less content is loaded by the browser.

Here is an article from 2019 that explains what Brave is trying to do regarding advertising.

I think everyone's learning style is different; some people can learn by themselves with a tutorial; some are afraid of messing things up; some aren't. Some people really need coaching. All of this is good. I used to write computer tutorials teaching people how to use various Windows programs with various screen readers; some people bought our stuff and just went to town; some were totally bamboozled.
If you're somebody who needs coaching, my opinion is that it's worth paying for someone to get you started. I know money is a problem for people, but computer literacy really isn't optional these days. Just my tuppence worth.

Difficult question to answer.  I think that most of the answers will be
subjective.  Each individual must necessarily do that which makes such a one
more comfortable with the learning process.

For me, I take joy in tinkering, making my trillion mistakes and then
figuring out ways to fix whatever problems I create.  It can be daunting,
time-consuming, but I'm never in a hurry and I'm not seeking to join any
number of gurus for a talent show.  When I do get stuck, I ask questions
either in this space, or use some other source to get myself back on the
right track.  For instance, I have not migrated to Windows10 yet; a part of
me DOES NOT WISH TO; why?  Because I want to DITCH WINDOWS and KEEP RUNNING
with My Shiny Android Toys!  I took that decision following the death of my
preferred Windows screen reader, Window-Eyes!  I'm getting much more done
lately with My Shiny Android Toys and the push towards Windows10 has no real
effect on me.  If secondary work causes me to migrate to Windows10 for a
while, I believe I am equal to the challenge.

I always check things out in the mainstream first before giving anythought
to specialized anything for the blind.  If, for instance, there is no free
tutorial on a subject I am investigating, but such a tutorial is available
in the mainstream at a price point I feel comfortable with, then I'll buy
the needed tutorial from the mainstream.  No doubt there are brilliant minds
amongst us who produce great tutorials; I have not liked the price points on
most of these and so I leave well alone.

google and or echo

Monte Single

Hi Heather Albright,

I noticed in your recent posting on the subject of “lessons”,  you indicated you have both google and echo devices.

Is this correct?

If so,  would you share your thoughts  and impressions on the two.

I have a google home mini which I think is pretty good for the 25 bucks I paid  for it;  and then sometimes it just frustrates me too much.

Thanks for your input

…and of course the input of others on this subject.
