issue with net flicks and jaws
Jeffrey Schwartz
I search for a movie, in this case, the Big Chill. I get a message stating that the program is searching for the Big Chill. Jaws says that this is a link, but it takes me nowhere. Below is a list of ten or more links which seem like URLs. You would think that the first would be my movie, but it is not. I go down the list until I become too frustrated. Help, please Jeff

Re: exporting contacts from a microsd card

What's going to determine what you can, or cannot, do is how the source device can export contacts. This is what their documentation says:
BACKING UP CONTACTS

I use a service for everything I ever want to save!!! Therefore I don't
have to import any bookmarks if I want to test a browser for a while. When I say everything, I mean it. This thing probably has over 10000 links in it.

It's a service. You would normally download and install it on a web

Yes, try pasting the link into the address bar of the browser rather than just pressing enter on it. Always try that if a link in an e-mail doesn't work and it is a written out link.

Hope, thank you for this recommendation. I was curious so I visited their site. After I found the downloads page for the latest release I am unable to find something which is clearly for Windows, other than a file named miniflux-windows-amd64 without an extension. What's the name of the Windows version?

hah. I do use Firefox and the hosted version of Miniflux. https://miniflux.app. I will say that it took me forever to get over wanting an exact replacement for Google reader, and by exact I mean like how everything was layed out. I did get over that though, after I found Miniflux.

Actually, I'm quite the fan of RSS news feeds but I don't use my
computer very much to access them. iOS users have some good
choices. The app that I use for this is called Lire. It costs
$6.99 but is well worth it if you follow a lot of feeds. David Goldfield, Blindness Assistive Technology Specialist www.DavidGoldfield.org On 8/21/2020 8:23 AM, Hope Williamson

Right, but the ridiculous people who won't stop using IE because they're too picky to find another RSS reader should probably give up RSs in the first place. I mean, if MS decided to remote wipe IE from everyone's computers right now I wouldn't be all that sad about it. It would be a major privacy violation, so I'd be unhappy in that way, but otherwise I'd have to say yay it's finally over!!!

Re: Browser Help Please.

One way to open bookmarks in an interface similar to Internet Explorer is to open the menu, the program has only one menu, with alt f. The menu may open if you press and release alt, then type f, but I'm not sure it always does so I hold alt and type f. Then either up or down arrow to bookmarks and press enter or type b and press enter.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I don't think there is a short cut command to get into this interface such as control a oin Internet Explorer. If you have been adding book marks in Internet Explorer with control d, that command works in Chrome. Here is the message I sent to another list today. You may find it very useful in working with book marks in Chrome. I have slightly modified it to make it fit well witgh this message. I've discussed how to open a book mark interface similar to Internet Explorer's. But I almost never look at or work with the list. there is a much more efficient way to work with book marks and it doesn't matter where they are in the book marks folders. This method finds it wherever it is, so I never organize them. Go to the address bar, control l. Then type part of what you are searching for. You may have to experiment to se what works well and sometimes though typing part of what you are looking for usually works well, you may have to experiment when looking for a particular book mark to see what part of the name works well. As an example, when I want to find the New York Times book mark, I type times in the address bar. Then I start up arrowing. the book mark is likely to be found much faster by up arrowing. If I want to find something else, If I want to find my Door Dash book mark, I type door and up arrow. If I want to find the All Things Considered book mark, I type things and up arrow. To go to a result, press enter on it. If you want to start over or look for something else or for the same thing in a different way, just use the command control l again and type what you want. It will overwrite what is there and you can up or down arrow to see what is found. Gene

Yes, if you are used to IE you may want the favorites to be in the favorites folder. You can still do this, it works the same way for chrome browsers, edge, a little different but, still the same consept. These instructions are for the brave browser, it works too with chrome, if you want to use that browser too. I did this off my pc because I did not want to have to fined the pathway to where ever they keep the favorites stored with chrome, brave or edge. So I decided to use the favorites folder that IE used to use. It is organized and I did not have to emport or export favorites to any browser. SO here you go:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
So for example go to www.nfb.org in brave, hit the alt key and arrow up to more tools and arrow down to create shortcut. You can name the site like national federation of the blind home page and tab twice to create. It will be placed on the desktop so you can cut it and place it in the favorites folder in windows10. So you can use any browser to git to any site from your favorites. and you can keep the favorites folder and copy that folder to any pc. You can do the same thing with edge but, it will most likely place the favorite in the downloads folder instead of the desktop like chrome and brave unless you change the pathway. Also if you have issues with the browser, if you have to redo the browser, your favorites are saved so you can get back to them. If anyone knows of a better way, please share! Cheers Heather

For some reason, I can't download any of the versions on my PC running Windows 10. I tried all three versions and was told the file is temporarily unavailable. I'm using JAWS, by the way.
Have the files been taken down already? If so, that's too bad. I just saw this announcement. I'm hoping to buy an iPhone next week and was looking forward to reading this book. --
