Once again,  this is where the belarc advisor is your small, simple, and free digital friend

You can find it at;

www.belarc.com

It is a small download.

INsatll the program, it comes with no attached garbage.

Run the program and a web page will open with all the specs of your computer; this includes such things as;

Mainboard board name and model,

Cpu name and model,

Amount of ram including used slots and feee slots,

Drives,

Video,

Audio,

All installed software including product keys,

And more.

With  the main board model, you can find which processors and amount of ram the board will support.

Sorry, no ginsu knife included.

What upgrades can be done to either the CPU or RAM Memory depends upon the Motherboard.  I doubt if MS Windows gives this info.

However, if you knew the Motherboard Brand and Model, you could then look that up and see what the limits of the CPU and Memory would be.

NFL No Longer Available On Tune In Premium

Ron Canazzi

Hello Groups,

I just got the bad news from Tune In Premium.  They are no longer going to have home broadcasts for the NFL games this season.  I don't know what source for play-by-play is available.  I will check NFL.com and update when I can find any information.  Several years ago, they combined the home radio broadcasts with the TV broadcasts and quintupled the price from $20 US yearly to $100 US yearly.  I will see if there is anything else available anywhere.

One place you can start checking is your sound settings, if you see more than one device in the playback

Combo box you can remove that extra one cause what could be happening is that it defaults to that one but it could be waiting for a device that you don’t have connected. If you could let me know what you see in there I can assist further.

When I pair my Plantronics Edge headset to the laptop, it works well and will even switch to an I device easily. The problem is when I turn the headset off, I can get no sound from the laptop speakers or the external speakers connected via the 3.5 MM audio jack. I feel pretty sure there is some setting that needs to be changed so this will work without the problem but have not figured it out so far.

If I shut the system down, when it restarts, the sound is back to normal.

I have absolutely no idea how to determine what CPU upgrades can be applied to a given motherboard, though I'll bet the CPU makers have scanners to determine that.

I do know that Crucial.com offers the Crucial System Scanner, and the results are presented post scan in a webpage that will pop up in your default browser when it completes, that tells you how much memory your computer currently has, the slots it's actually installed in, and what the maximum memory for the system (that would occupy all slots, if all are not already used) is as well as the type of memory the system will take.

I have seen this discussed on some tech lists before including my own echoing@groups.io list. However, I want to make sure I have the latest information so I am going to ask again. I don’t care if it is Alexa enabled and I don’t need a built in Microwave. I just need a decent accessible Toaster Oven.

And I would rather not pay $325 for the so-called talking blind friendly toaster oven. That seems a little over the top to me.

Thanks in advance.

screen sharing on the mac?

Hi,

How does this work? I did it once, but just a few moments ago, unsuccessful.

I would go to the spotlight, type in screen sharing, click the result for screen sharing, type their apple ID, and click connect.

Then it says the person isn’t available.

The other question is if they are trying to access my computer, after they click connect and my apple id, am I suppose to get a ding to notify me I must

navigate to allow, accept or whatever the case may be?

Thank you,

Look through the options in the insert v menu. See if there is something about reporting errors or java script errors or something similar. If so, turn it off if its on. You are probably hearing errors reported in the JAVA script used in the messages when they open.

It appears that mail in the trash folder is deleted after thirty days.
https://smallbusiness.chron.com/long-gmail-keep-emails-65391.html
Mail in the spam folder is as well. It appears that, unless you don't want mail in trash for privacy reasons, you don't need to worry about deleting it there.

If you delete mail from your inbox, it goes to trash. But I don't know just what is kept for indefinite periods of time elsewhere by GMail. Evidently, mail in your inbox, if you leave it there, is kept indefinitely. But sent mail and mail you keep in other folders, I'll leave for others to discuss. There is a way to delete large amounts of messages from various folders. I haven't used it and don't know it.

Good morning,

The subject more or less tells the story. I delete messages with my HIMS U2. I can delete messages with Thunderbird.

If I open email with either my Blind Shell Classic or my Iphone 6, I am shown that I have 14,000 messages.

I have looked into my Gmail account and don't find a way to delete this high number of messages. Also, I find no way to tell Gmail to empty trash when exiting Email.

I will truly appreciate any ideas you may have as to how I can solve these issues.

Gmail does delete messages when you delete them.

The following should help you in terms of being able to select and delete huge numbers of messages at once: Mass Selection and Deletion of Gmail Messages via the Gmail Web Interface

Hi Heather and All,

Thank you so much for this information.  So, when I am on a web page I want to create a short cut to, what I do is press the alt key, down arrow about 18 times until I hear the more tools option, arrow right, and down arrow a few more times, until I hear copy short cut, I press enter, and I then tab until I hear create, I then press enter, and this places the web page short cut on my desk top, and I created a favorite folder on the desk top, and I then paste the web page short cut in to the favorites folder.  This is fine.  Can someone please tell me if I or how can I copy all the short cuts to web pages from the favorites I had when I used IE? I checked and I couldn’t see any options of moving or copying those web short cuts from IE.

Thank you all so much.

Janet

I still use the favorites folder and use brave browser too. So if you want to keep the favorites in an easy to access folder, not one of those hidden folders woe. So go to the site you want to add say www.nfb.org.

So  hit the alt key and arrow up to more tools and hit inter or arrow right to create short cut, it will be arrow right and arrow down to this option. Hit inter, you can change the title or keep the one it has. Tab to create short cut. It will be placed on the desktop and you can move it to the favorites folder so if you already have favorites from explorer, they will be in the same place. I am running windows10, not sure if windows7 puts the favorite on the desktop, assume it does. I have had machines running classic shell in windows10, classic shell makes look like windows7 and this option always places the favorite on the desktop. I like this option from the importing favorites from explorer which just created favorites I already had and found that just creating a favorite and placing them in the favorites folder, keeps my favorites list clean. So if I need to switch browsers, all my favorites are always there. I do not have to worry that I have favorites saved in fire fox, chrome or even edge or brave. So if you have to redo the web browser, erasing info and starting over, you do not lose favorites! If you are moving to a different machine all you have to do is copy that favorites folder, no importing and exporting.

Cheers Heather

Hi Everyone,

Can someone please tell me how I can add a web page to favorites using Brave as my Browser? Also using Windows 7.

When I was using IE as my Browser, all I had to do to add a web page to favorites was press the alt key, and the add to favorites option was there, but this doesn't seem to be the case with Brave.

Thank you all in advance.

By default, there is not a defined command for activating or deactivating the screen curtain. But you can create one. Go to the NVDA menu with nda-n, press p for preferences and n for Input gestures.

Then search for curtain and you will find the entry under the vision category.
