On this and a few other lists, I initiated a discussion about how to best receive NFL radio play-by-play broadcasts of the games now that Tune In Premium had dropped the NFL and MLB broadcasts.  As far as MLB, there is an iPhone app as well as a website interface. Both are very accessible and the $20 US yearly for the service for both the app and the website is very affordable.

As concerns the NFL play-by-play, the two choices are SiriusXM and the NFL site and app.

I had gotten several conflicting bits of information concerning the availability of NFL play-by-play for the SiriusXM service. Here is the definitive answer.  You _MUST_ have a radio to receive NFL, NBA and MLB play-by-play broadcasts. I know this because yesterday, I signed up for the service and found out that the NFL game last night and the NFL listing for play-by-play did not exist on the online streaming service.  When I signed up, I specifically asked if these play-by-play services were available.  I was told by SiriusXM tech support that they were.  When I found out last night that they were not, I called up this morning for a clarification and was definitively told that the services for NFL, NBA and MLB play-by-play were available only to those who owned radios.  So that settles that issue once and for all. When I told SiriusXM support of the bad information I got yesterday, they were quite good about it and refunded my first month fees and cancelled my account.

Now for the NFL app. Let me say first off that the app is clumsy. There are a bunch of buttons that show up as unpronounceable for VoiceOver on the iPhone app.  Experimentation has shown that the most important unlabeled button is the second from the top on the main screen and the Game Pass screen. This button is the settings button. VoiceOver has an ability to label unlabeled buttons, but that's one feature I haven't mastered at this time.  There are a bunch of other unlabeled buttons that I haven't figured out yet.

However, the biggest issue with this app is not so much some of those buttons, but it is the way NFL handles the games.  I experimented with this app for two days before the Thursday night game and they had only the remnant of the Super Bowl archives from last February listed under the Game Pass main screen.  There is a year/week/day picker in the app which takes a bit of getting used to.  When you first open it by double tapping on it, about fifty percent of the time, you get bounced to the status bar and have to navigate back to the picker.  But what bothered me most was that the screen for current games stay locked in last February until 8:20 PM last night.  At precisely that time, the app  switched to the year 2020 and the current year appeared in the year/week/day picker and then and only then could you access the feed for both Houston and Kansas City.  Once these feeds are available, you could double tap on the appropriate feed for home and away. The team names are clearly labeled so that is no problem.

What did happen is that for about the first five minutes, the games would not play and the TV feed which is not supposed to be available until immediately after the game has been completed actually played. Then it disappeared and the radio feeds became available.  I assume this was a glitch on the part of the NFL itself and nothing to do specifically with the app.  Maybe they'll do a better job on Sunday--having had these issues for the opening game.

As far as the website, each of these year/week/day time pickers is represented by a Tab.  You press enter on the appropriate tab and then a drop down menu appears so you can highlight it and press enter again to expose the game/s for that day.

All in all, as clumsy as it is, it is usable and is you don't want to buy a radio, it is the only alternative for now--other than hunting down team network affiliates that may stream the games. Indeed there are a bunch of them that have done that in the past. The site Free Football Radio<http://www.freefootballradio.com>  lists the affiliates of all 32 NFL teams and while they don't regularly update this list, many of the entries are valid enough. You can also go the the individual team website where the current list of affiliates is usually listed.

So there you have it: the major alternatives to the now defunct Tune In Premium NFL play-by-play broadcasts. The NFL site and app is a bit pricey at $100 yearly, but I suppose if you have sighted associates or family members, it might be worth it after all.

How do you turn on autocontributions in the Brave browser

Gene

I've looked through all the settings I can find in Brave and I find nothing that can turn on autocontributions, which is currently set at off. Using the simulated mouse to click off to see if more options are presented does nothing. Activating the settings button for brave contributions shows all sorts of settings I can change but there isn't a turn on setting. I've looked at instrucgtions found in a Google search and found them useless. Does anyone know how this is done?

I found three ways to solve the problem. I chose the easiest, just install Dropbox. There is then the option to uninstall it once it's reinstalled. Well, it worked and it's still working without reinstalling it, so why mess with what works?

I sure would love to know what caused all of this crazy stuff, especially all of those files showing up in my documents when I access the documents folder one way and looking normal when using another.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

It seems as though Dropbox, in all of the confusion from yesterday, has been moved to a place where it doesn't belong, at least it's not located there on my other computer. The shortcut tells me it doesn't work because the location to the dropbox in my start menu doesn't match the shortcut.

I tried deleting the shortcut and it still won't work.

I have a version of Dropbox to install, but since this version or whatever it is doesn't seem to behaving correctly and isn't located in the correct spot, I decided to just completely uninstall it. I went into the programs on the control panel, selected uninstall dropbox, and because it isn't working, I get a message that it can't be uninstalled because it doesn't seem to be installed in the first place.

Advice please? Can I just delete the folders and pretend they were left behind somehow in the wrong spot and reinstall the program or should I leave it alone and just try to install the new copy? I hate to leave corrupted files behind.

Vicki

Re: Dropbox and pCloud

Are you using the screen-reader's system tray dialog or the actual System Tray? If something doesn't work one way, truy the other. In this case, Dropbox no longer works properly with the system tray dialog your screen-reader makes available but it does if you use the actual system tray.

Thanks to David for vouching for pCloud.

As for Dropbox, if you click on it from the system tray, there's
silence. You might be able to tab around and eventually get it to tell
you to press Enter to open Dropbox, but it's hit or miss. Even once
you succeed at opening the right window, it seems more difficult to
find Preferences. I generally like Dropbox, but its attention to
accessibility when it comes to Windows leaves something to be desired.
So far on iOS it seems fine.

I don't have an opinion about which is better.

You may get information you find useful by doing a Google search for Dropbox corrupt, uninstall or reinstall
I found one possibly relevant result. I didn't look much further so there may be more farther down. I don't know if it matters if you follow it but there is possibly relevant information. There is a people also ask section and I didn't look much at that. I don't know if there is anything possibly relevant there.

That's good that things are as they should be except for Drop Box. While I don't know this of course, I think reinstalling DropBox will likely solve the problem. I don't know if you should uninstall the program and reinstall it or just reinstall it. You could have tried the same with Google. I don't know if that would have been preferable or if running a restore point would have been. I don't think it is a good idea to run multiple restore points unless you think that may be the best solution and you think you might be running restore points that were after the problem started. There is a small risk that restore points will cause problems.

Yes, they are and right after I sent the message, I decided to go into
computer, user and access my documents that way instead of the shortcut on
my desktop. So, when I did that, everything in my documents was correct. I
tried the desktop shortcut again and there wer 4985 files and folders,
everything from all of my favorites, my e-mail folders and who knows what
else! I deleted the shortcut, went back into my computer, user and created a
new shortcut and it's normal.

As far as Google Chrome and my disappearing restore points, I opened up
Google this morning and it worked. Dropbox still does not.

My 5 restore points that disappeared last night are still missing. I have
zero restore points.

Are the originals still where they should be?

I've done three restore points. Now out of nowhere, over 4500 files from all
over my computer showed up in my documents. I've done a virus and malwear
scan and they come back clean.

You may have to uninstall and reinstall the programs, but if you have system restore points before the problem but not that will cause you to have to redo a lot of settings or reinstall a lot of other programs, you might want to try a restore point.

Hi Vicki,

It's quite safe to delete the Dropbox Cache folder.

Open the run dialog with windows r, and paste

%userprofile%\\Dropbox\.dropbox.cache\

then either delete the items inside, or delete the qebcobkqbgpbzfynfuwbof folder.

This afternoon my Google and Dropbox both crashed. Neither will open, with their desktop shortcuts or straight from the program folder or start menu.

In the case of dropbox I get an error message about a file not being replaced correctly and in the case of Google, I get nothing.

The file in Dropbox is:

(C:\Users\username\Dropbox\.dropbox.cache\qebcobkqbgpbzfynfuwbof\placehol

Anyone know how I can replace this file and what to do with Google?

Thanks.

Pcloud works very well as a service on my Android phones and on my Windows 10 computers. It puts a separate drive on your computer listed under this pc. I believe you get five gigs of storage for free! Have a great day! David Moore

Some of the features are not accessible, like adding passwords and

can't uninstall dropbox

Vicki W

Vicki
