Tell Me, now Voice Info is back

I just checked after a long time to see what would happen when I called Voice Info, or Tell Me, both different names for the same thing, and its back.

Re: looking for a good wireless router/modem isn't in thesame room
heather albright
Ah I see, did you get an external wireless card? Maybe your internal card is going bad if it is warn out! I had mom get a net gear card and her laptop is still going strong especially with the router. But still going to replace the modem when I find one. It is like the modem cant handle the data very well while the router is flying high with no drops. Cheers Heather

I purcheased a erro mesh router. It works great for my needs. Sure it is not the modem? A router is only is good as the modem it has to connect too! My erro mesh has to points so I have internet all threw the house! I found outthe modem I was using was the issue and we all know spectrum really sucks. So now I am in the market for a modem that works with spectrum My router uses an app off my iPhone and it sends weekly reports directly to the phone. Cheers Heather .

My Linxys has bit the dust and I wondered what you'd recommend for my new adapter. The modem is in another room, and the Linxys eventually found it but the internet was kind of shaky so I'd like a better one. Might there be a more top-of-the-line Linxys, or have you found another brand to be better? Thanks.

Re: looking for a good wireless router/modem isn't in the same room

Hi Joanne. Strange as it may seem, there are certain spots
within an area, a building or a house, say where data cannot, for
some reason, travel between your wireless equipment and your pc,
hence your inability to connect to the internet, even with a
wireless modem/router operating to full capacity. These spots are
known as "Blind Spots". The only way is to shift your pc's
position so that it isn't located at that blind spot so the
wireless router/modem can then communicate with your pc. It also
happens with mobile phones where in certain areas or spots, no
incoming or outgoing call is posible to make or recieve. Cheers!

Re: cleaning old messages out of thunderbird

Its much more efficient to look through the folders in the program itself. Since it is an IMAP account, all mail on the server will, I think, be there. Look in the all mail folder, which is a folder in GMail where all your mail may be. I'm not sure just how things are organized but trash may not have mail that is in all mail.

I would rather have my old messages on the site because, at times, I want to go back and look at something I might have no idea I would have wantted to when I got the message. Sometimes, I want to reply to something I delete after I delete it and it remains on the server and I can look at it in my IMAP account. Gene

Re: Kurzweil 1000, or something else?
Gene
How old is the version you are using? In my opinion, there hasn't been really revolutionary improvement in OCR accuracy for quite some time. That doesn't mean that you might not want to upgrade. there might be improvement enough in the kinds of material you expect to scan. But can you use the old version with whatever version of Windows you have? If so, why not see how it performs on material of the sort you expect to regularly scan. Then, you can determine if you are satisfied or not with what you have. if the version you have doesn't run in your version of Windows, then you will have to do something.

Re: update was help with a website
Gene
I am assuming that there is a way to route the touch cursor to the virtual PC cursor in this discussion. I am assuming that you are first working with the Virtual PC Cursor. I dohn't use JAWS, and that's why I am making these assumptions. You don't have to tab and tab. Use your screen-reader's search to search for the item you want or for the first item you want if you don't know what the item you are looking for is, then find the one you want by down arrowing. That item, you will have to remember from your first look at what was an unfamiliar page. The find command is one of the most under and unused and most useful commands blind people have in web browsing. Any training material that doesn't teach its use thoroughly is deficient.

Is this Arro Mesh a wireless router? This computer
needs a wireless router to connect, which I didn't know when I ordered the
computer last year. But I guess all desktops need a separate router to plug into
a USB port.

Facebook message questions
Madison Martin
Hi all,
I'm wondering, is it possible for a totally blind person to put a picture in a Facebook message? If so, how do I do it? I know that sighted people can do it, but I'm wondering if it's something that I can independently do. I have a picture that's an attachment as part of an email, and I'd like to be able to include it in a message so that the person knows what I'm talking about. I'm using Jaws 2018, the latest Edge, mbasic.facebook.com, Outlook 2013, and Windows 10 version 1909. Look forward to any help anyone can provide me!!! Thanks Madison

Re: cleaning old messages out of thunderbird
Jim Wohlgamuth
Hi there! When I wish to delete old mail, I simply select all messages in a given folder and press delete. When I wish to empty the trash, I press alt-F arrow up to empty trash and press enter. I will occasionally compact the boxes using the alt-F and arrowing up to compact folders and pressing enter. This does keep my system running somewhat faster in thunderbird. Give this a try and see. Good Luck! and Have A Great Day! de <wohlggie@...><KF8LT><Jim>.
