Composing New Messages on Gmail Site

Abbie Taylor

On the gmail site, when I select a contact by checking the appropriate
box, then press the Compose button, more often than not, the person's
name appears in the To field but not the address. When I try to send
the message, I'm told this can't be done because the address is
missing. Is there another way to insert someone from contacts as a
message recipient, or is there a way I can edit contacts so the
address appears in the To field?

Re: OE Classic and JAWS

Marie <magpie.mn@...>

I use Windows live mail with Windows 10 on three systems and it works fine with all three. I use Jaws primarily but can also use NVDA.
Thunderbird is a pretty good email client but has some very annoying issues in my opinion. If you wish to exit the message you are reading without deleting it, you have to close it before you go to the next message, whereas with WLM you simply press Jaws + right arrow to move to the next message.
When you read all the unread messages in a folder and there is one read which you want left there, TB goes into that message and you often have to press the esc key before you can go back to the tree view.
These two issues have continued through several updates with no change.

I find Thunderbird slower to open messages than Windows Live Mail, which is
one reason I continue to use it in Windows 7. The sluggishness of

I hope you consider trying Windows Live Mail.

You didn't send privately. If it is of concern, to avoid embarrassment, it would be a good idea to check the address every time you send a private message. Lists aren't consistent in how they work with such commands.

Hi Holly,

Sending privately. The Marybeth Wise books, at least the later ones
are a bug in the NLS software. They are aware of it and are attempting
a fix. this subject has been discussed exhaustively on the BARDTalk
list. Yes, she is a real person, but she hasn't read anything beyond
the 60,000 BARD numbers.

Accessible Way of Formatting a 512GB SD Card For Use in the BN Touch Plus

Debbie April Yuille

Hi All

I’ve purchased a 512GB SD card which I need to format to fat32 so I can use it in the BrailleNote Touch Plus. Windows itself has no way to format a card over 64GB to fat32 that I know of.

Does anyone have any accessible third-party solutions?

Thanks

Debbie

That is also a database bug. You will notice all those entries have no read time, and are comertial recordings. You can see the real narrators by looking up the title on audible.

Believe it or not, some of their narrators read many books. I don’t know where they find the time to read them all, but they do.

Hello,

Over the last couple of weeks, I have noticed that there are a lot of
books that are read by someone going by the name of Marybeth Wise.

The types of Books have a very wide range of subject, and so many have
recently been read by this woman, I am thinking it is too many for one
person to read even in one year.

So, I wonder if BARD is now using a Machine to Read books for BARD?

Anyone know for sure, one way or the other?

Was curious so thought I would ask the rest of you.

Re: Kurzweil 1000, or something else?

Hello,

Try finereader. I upgraded from 14 to 15, and OCR is massively improved especially 14 over 12. K1000 uses the finereader engine anyway.

On 11/25/2020 7:08 AM, Gene wrote:
Do you have samples of the kind of material you will be regularly scanning? I don't know if there is better OCR available, but if Kurzweil scans the kind of material you want to scan well and it is significantly cheaper to upgrade, then upgrading would probably be the better thing to do unless you get better results among material you generally scan or rarely scanned material is important to get the best results from.

I usually scan mail and paperback books. Usually, Openbook is fine for these purposes,, even an old version, version 7, which I still have on an XP machine and I use because it runs more quickly than Openbook 9 on the two different machines I have those versions on.

And you can try a demo of the latest version of Kurzweil to see if it meets your needs well.

The plan is to upgrade to the latest version. The question is, is k1000
still enough better than anything else to make the upgrade worth it over
just buying something else?

On 11/24/2020 7:41 PM, Gene wrote:
How old is the version you are using?  In my opinion, there hasn't been really revolutionary improvement in OCR accuracy for quite some time. That doesn't mean that you might not want to upgrade. there might be improvement enough in the kinds of material you expect to scan.  But can you use the old version with whatever version of Windows you have?  If so, why not see how it performs on material of the sort you expect to regularly scan.  Then, you can determine if you are satisfied or not with what you have.  if the version  you have doesn't run in your version of Windows, then you will have to do something.

Hi all.

I have an older copy of kurzweil1000 that i haven't been using because i
haven't really needed OCR software. However, the time has come that i
would like to have a good OCR program again for reading books and such.
So i'm curious what people think, is it worth upgrading kurzweil to the
latest version? or is there better OCR software out there now?

I want something for a pc, not a mobile device.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Are there any accessible online malware scanners

Gene

I've been playing with the EEK scanner and it works after a fashion. Windows keeps presenting a message that this version of Windows requires signed drivers and that this one isn't. The support discussion I read in a forum says the driver should be recognized and gives no helpful information. the woman who presented the problem didn't get it resolved. The program worked fine before I upgraded to Service Pack 1 of Windows 7. So is this a problem with the programs or the Windows on my system? I saw one or two Google results for this problem so who knows? The program can't remove certain things it might, but it detects just as well according to the support form. I'll worry about removal if I need to later. Nothing was found by the program and Malware bytes didn't find anything either.

But it would be nice to find a good online scanner that runs properly on my system.

there something else that is accessible and works well?

It would b a good idea to have Firefox available. Actually, Firefox portable would be better. With all the browsers available, I suspect many people have two or maybe three Chrome-based browsers. That is an oversight, to have two or three Chrome-based browsers and only an increasingly archaic nonChrome browser. A nonChrome browser may work with some pages better than a Chrome-based browser does.
