Re: thunderbird 78.5.1 accessibility configuration

If it helps you understand it, this isn't a mysterious field that is there for some reason. You are really working with the to line. When you first type an address and either tab or press enter, you are placed in the field. You may hear an announcement such as one, left arrow to select. You are still in an edit field where you can type another address, use autocomplete, etc. Add as many addresses as you want. Use autocomplete or type an address, then press enter. Continue until you have added all you want. In other words, for consistency, add the first address and press enter. You can press tab, but it isn't consistent with what you would tend to do and its easier to understanbd what you are doing.

Add first address and press enter. Adde second address, and press enter. Add as many as you like. At any time after you first press enter, move to the left from the edit field you are in and continue left to hear and move to the addresses you have added. If you want to add more, right arrow past the first address you addded. You will probably hear edit. That is where you add addresses so do exactly as you did before to add addresses. Tab to the subject line when you are finished and want to add a subject. You can be in the edit field or on any address and tab, it doesn't matter. In short, you are working with a variation on the to line. Gene

Thank you for letting me know what all this means. I am just going to do things the way I have been doing them. I don't usually send out mass mailings. It's usually to one person so I won't need this extra field but thanks again for explaining it. As for the Jaws hot keys, I won't be turning that off. I will just deal with it. Sometimes, I like that to be announced. At least I have a better understand of what's going on with the new update. So glad that I can post on this list and get answers. I would be lost without it. Hi Sharon,
Are you saying that when you press akey
whether it's the, Alt key, down arrow, up arrow or Tab, this what you're hearing
instead of the options or whatever you might be navigating?
If so, you can press, NVDA key + 4, on the
number row above the main keyboard to toggle the speaking of command keys like
arrow, tab and other keys on and off.
Or, if you press, NVDA key + N, for the NVDA
menu then press, P, for preferences and press, S, for settings
Now down arrow to, Keyboard, and tab to, speak
command keys, and uncheck this checkbox. Tab to, Okay, press enter and
make sure to save your settigngs.
Stay safe and take care. Mike.

getting rid of tables

Hi all,
Can someone please tell me how to get rid of a table in a Word document? I copied something from an email, and now it's in a table and I don't want it like that. Using Jaws 2018, Windows 10 version 2004 and Word 2013. Thanks Madison

I use the portable version so I can't comment on how the installed version might work. You can always copy the thumb drive portable version to the hard drive and use that. I think it’s a better idea to use the portable version even if they both work well. If something goes wrong with the copy on your machine, you can replace it with a backup and not worry about troubleshooting.

I forgot to say that after you finish working in options, turn on the virtual PC cursor with JAWS key z or browse mode with NVDA key space. These commands are toggles.

Re: Something missing from the NVDA menu?

I don't know why you are hearing that. If you are talking about the NVDA key n menu, it should work without modification. What happens when you use read current object on an item, if you are using the desktop layout, numpad 8. I doubt you will hear the name read out, but its worth trying.

Also, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling NVDA? Something may be corrupted. Gene

You may want to change settings for what the browser does, for example, if it asks you where to download files or change cookie settings, but you don't need to change anything to make it perform differently or better with JAWS.

You have a very good point. I realized that I had not specified what type speaker I was looking for after I had sent the message.

I am usually in my 'computer' room by myself and for that I would want an external speaker. I just want to hear the words plainly. When we travel I have used some Bose ear buds which have been good at meeting my needs and not bothering my husband while he might be watching TV. I do not want to use ear phones or buds while at home. So, I am looking for small speaker/s perhaps mini ones. I do not want a sound bar because my laptop is small unless it would be reasonably priced and very light weight. Mono would be all right, I guess, because if I wanted stereo I have a choice of ear phones or ear buds I already have. Thanks for helping me fill out what I hope to find. nancy
