I have this exact same issue, though I’ve never gotten  an error message. From what I’ve learned Juan is right, and some users may have their accounts set to not receive direct messages at all. If you have any other way to contact these people do so, there might be a way to get them to except your direct messages. It sure is frustrating though. Good luck, hope you can figure something out!!

moving a chart to its own worksheet in excel

Josh Kennedy

Hi

First, since I will want to make and emboss charts, the tiger software manual says to emboss a chart I first have to select it after it has been inserted, and move it to its own worksheet with nothing else except the chart on it. How do I do this with the keyboard in excel? And is this easiest by using jaws, or by using NVDA? Also I know NVDA offers books on Microsoft office for purchase. Does the latest Jaws offer something similar? Or is jaws training for office, free?

Hi all,

The earphone jack on my laptop doesn't work and I need a new set of speakers. Are there any speakers available that don't require the earphone jack? If not I have an adapter that allows me to use one of my USB ports as an earphone jack, would that work to bypass the nonworking earphone jack in all cases? I have my current set of speakers plugged that way and they work except for a short that's developing but I don't want to buy something that I can't use and have to send it back because I can't use my adapter.

Thanks.

Pairing Aftershokz Trekz Air Headset to a PC

Mike B.

Hi All,

I'm trying to pair my Aftershokz Trekz Air headset with my Windows 7 64 bit Pro computer but, it won't.  I can't get a pairing code to display and besides I've never tried to pair a bluetooth device on a PC.  I'm following the prompts, my bluetooth is up to date but, I keep getting the, Try again button.

The Trekz Air is listed as a device and software was found and installed but, I just can't get a pairing code, or I'm not finding the screen that displays the code.  My Logitech 800 headset pairs but, that has it's own dongle

Any and all help is appreciated.  Thanks much.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

braille printer or embosser email list

Josh Kennedy

Hi,

I just bought a new braille buddy embosser for the times I want multiline braille and tactile graphics, something the orbit reader and most braille displays cannot do… I got the embosser it from irie-at …

www.irie-at.com

force, for use with the plastic permabraille sheets? The only other thing I may get for the embosser is one of their cheaper extended warrantys but that will be next month. and it is on its way to me. But in the meantime if there are any braille embosser general email lists or discussion groups I could join, could you let me know? I will not be using Duxbury with it. I will just be using Microsoft office with the tiger suite addin, along with braille blaster, and probably Microsoft paint for tactile graphics and excel for charts and graphs. This embosser takes both single sheets and tractor paper, to save space I will just bbe using single cut sheet paper for now. My main question though is, I will be using standard braille paper, 8.5 by 11 inches. And I also want to use the permabraille plastic sheets from time to time. My braille paper is 3 hole punched. So do these printers have default settings for standard 100lbs paper and another to adjust the punch force or embosser hammer

The embosser was $1495, exactly, with free shipping after I went through the combo boxes and kept choosing no-thanks, because it wanted to know the website that is, if I wanted Duxbury, tactile design software, wifi printing with go-braille box, extended warrantys, a rolling travel case… for the extras and accessories. I do not need those after all I am just a stay-at-home parent of a sighted child who may do some very small volume transcribing for people once in awhile and printing out my own personal stuff like church readings and stuff, address lists, recipes, bank records, statements and maybe turning those statements into graphs in excel and embossing those, etcetera. Now my last embosser I had was a braille blazer from 30 years ago in 1991 or so. So any updated tips on the modern personal braille printers would be welcome. And if you want to take this off list, my email is:

joshknnd1982@...

and if that did not come through to the list, let me write it a different way so you all get my private email, unfiltered.

J, o, s, h, k, n, n, d, 1, 9, 8, 2, at, g, m, a, I, l, dot, c, o, m.

Thanks for any help and tips from an old braille blazer with ms-DOS and megaDots user from back in 1992.

Josh

Re: Updated FireFox

Gene

I don't know what the problem is. You should have had settings retained through upgrades. The easiest thing to do rather than troubleshooting, would likely be to use Firefox Portable. It does everything Firefox, the installed program, does. You can back up the program once you place it on your machine and have a version you can use if something goes wrong with the one you run. Just delete the one you ruhhn, then copy the backup copy to where you usually run the program. As you make changes, add bookmarks, change settings, install addons, you can back up the program again and have the latest version available if you need to replace the one you are running. And you can protect yourself against a bad update by keeping the backup of the old version, the one you haven't updated until you know the updated version works properly.

You can download Firefox Portable here:
https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
You can have different versions on the machine. You can have an installed version on the machine as well.

Thanks Gene, and I'm sure you're right; but:
Used to be that when I started firefox, it displayed a whole page of
Google (because google was set to be my start page). Everything
pertaining to google; all the google links, the edit box for searching,
the search button, ETC. After all my updating, reverting et al,
starting firefox just gives me about four items that I can tab through.
No edit box, and my NVDA does no longer go into edit mode allowing me to
input my search criteria.

I'm sure there must be something in the firefox setup that will let me
have my old screens back; but I just can't find it.

I wonder if there's a tutorial that will show me how to set this up the
way it was? I know I should google it, but I can't get there.

Appreciate your suggestions.
